It's one of my Favorite Places in Chicago to spend time because of the stimulating experiences I've received there! When you walk in the door and through the purple-walled entrance, you know you're in for an Experience. The Thinkubator opens up into high-ceiling and tall windows, inviting chairs and work areas, with wood fireplace, tons of video screens -- complimented by working brains, light bulb gadgets and special seats (such as a spiral, a question mark and one made in the shape of feet -- yes, they're comfortable). There's also a spiral staircase leading up to and a spectacular rooftop view of Chicago where I've eaten lunch and met with groups. I've twice taken "Accelerating Innovation" workshops at The Thinkubator, where I collaborated with other smart people, figured out specifically how I think and learned how to turn all my creativity into innovative and meaningful solutions! The technology solutions are massive, seemingly endless, and they compliment the learning and facilitation of ideas. The Thinkubator is also a place to meet other smart people. Its owner and founder Gerald Solutionman Haman, is the brightest lightbulb in the place! I've also met dozens of really smart people every time I visit. That's why I keep coming back. I assume they were connected to Columbia College somehow. The space was designed oddly, with inclines and narrow hallways, as well as an area sectioned off in darkness for video. The works were striking and thought-provoking, and the place was packed! The area outside the studio was a little disorganized though. There were refreshments by a caterer, with good mostly vegetarian food, but not many places to sit, and the garbage cans became too full to use. But either way, I'd encourage one to drop in with an open mind.

I came here about 8 months ago to get a revision of my IEP (Individual Evaluation Progress Report)…read moresince I have a learning disability and needed to get it revised to a more current one since I had my last one in 2001 to get special accommodations for school. I initially had one done by a doctor in Northfield that was for a legal proceeding that involved my grandmother and the social worker involved in the case (who's name won't be mentioned because this person is a bag of **** for a human being) who arranged it had initially told me to tell the doctor and his assistant to send her the bill until it culminated into a merry go round of phone calls to get the billing dealt with until she told me I had to take care of the $990.00 testing bill. God knows I didn't have a grand to pull out of my butt to up and pay for something that I wasn't initially responsible for. Please watch yourself with some social workers this is the game they pull to get things done on their end and you might get screwed by them so you want to keep any and all emails and document any text messages and phone calls that have taken place if you lodge a complaint against the social worker and the agency they work for. This is where I used my good intuition and called the Chicago Forensics Center since I had called around to different places and most of them wanted as much as $1200 for the testing and a copy of the report. I had tried to go back to the original place my very first IEP was done when I was diagnosed with a learning disability more than 30 years ago which was the University of Illinois, but at the time I had time constraints to get this done and over to my school. They screened me pretty fast and got me assigned to someone within a month which is typical after cases are reviewed according to need and services. I was assigned to an intern named Cori Harley who was great and she was the one who did my testing and as of this posting she will be leaving the facility since she's graduating at the end of the summer. Anyone who hires her will be getting a well trained graduate. She made me feel very comfortable and not weird like half the shrinks I had dealt with all my life who just made me feel very awkward and uncomfortable. They work on a sliding scale basis and you will have to provide some documentation to determine the fee for services. It's worth it for you to do if you need a revision of documentation if you have a previous diagnosis of being learning disabled or a first time diagnosis if you're an adult who wasn't screened as a child for a learning disability. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs services like this and want to be in a warm and caring, and non-judgmental environment. The place is very well maintained and washrooms are clean and kept up. The process can be long, but you'll get through it pretty quick it's best to do it when you're not working so you don't have to schedule multiple sessions to complete the testing process.

This school has failed my cousin in ways that are absolutely inexcusable. He's a 4th grader who has…read morebeen bullied for over a year -- mocked for his weight, harassed by the same student repeatedly, and pushed to the edge mentally because Central Road Elementary refuses to act meaningfully. The bully, a 5th grader moving to 6th grade, was asked to write an apology -- and all he wrote was: "I'm sorry." The school then claimed this was "sufficient" because "he doesn't have the writing capabilities" to say more. Let me get this straight: You're telling us that a student in fifth grade, who can't even write a basic apology, is being allowed to pass to the next grade level -- instead of getting the intervention he clearly needs? So not only is Central Road failing victims of bullying, it's neglecting the educational needs of the aggressors too. That's two layers of failure. Meanwhile, my cousin -- the victim -- has had to be placed in a full-time, outpatient mental health treatment program, five days a week, because this school refused to protect him. The emotional and financial toll on his family has been immense. If you're a parent, and you care even slightly about your child's emotional safety, academic growth, or mental health -- avoid this school. The administration will ignore warning signs, excuse inadequate behavior, and sweep serious issues under the rug to maintain the illusion that "everything is fine." Nothing is fine. And the longer you leave your kid here, the more damage they might endure.

Be prepared to show ID at the gate and we were also were selected for a random car screening. It was a hot, sunny day so the bison were just laying around in a clump. I would like to return when it is cooler outside to see if they would be more active. As others have shared, there are restricted areas. I don't know why, but driving through here feels like a step back in time and into a sci fi movie set. It's an intriguing place to visit if you are in the area.

They will give you a map if you ask so you get a better layout of the area. There are designated areas for visitors and YOU MUST stay in those areas. Trails are marked but not very well mowed so expect to walk in ankle deep grass. Bring bug spray. Park by the red barn as there is a circular trail along the water..but keep going left to stay in the trail. You can also park near the Bison Field and walk on the path to see the Bison located on the main road. The Science Center has limited hours so check the website for info. We did not go into the Center. If you are into birding or nature,take a visit to Fermilab.
