My car was towed in late January in downtown Chicago where no tow zone signs were visible. I even…read moreparked in front of a parking meter for good measure and had my parking receipt texted to my cell phone. After waking up to my car gone, I had to track it down then spend 4 hours at the auto pound to retrieve it. After assessing paperwork and paying $200, I walked up to my car and noticed the front right panel/bumper was damaged, cracked, and indented from the towing. I then spent another hour in line only for the cashier to have me fill out a page of a packet and give wrong instructions. I then started a continuous trail of emails and phone calls to the towing administration office where 3 claims managers were hired/fired over the last 7 months. I had to re-explain my situation then start from square one when that manager would get let go. United Road Towing conveniently rebranded to Vehicle Management Solutions 2 months after my towing damage incident, so I reached out to their corporate contact. She gave me a glimmer of hope but only relayed my information to the current claims manager. At this point, 8 months later and after providing a damage estimate from a body shop, they do not know where my claim is and are not sure if the claims committee has approved it. The point of sharing my experience is to outline some actions that can hopefully help others who endure something similar. URT is now VM Solutions and it is imperative to consistently follow up as well as have a paper trail. I just sent a contact request on their official website hoping Corporate can expedite this issue. I even called multiple offices/departments in the city of Chicago and they said "since the towing company has a business license, the city can't do anything about it and the business needs to handle this themselves". It is so unfortunate this towing company cannot have proper business operations and take responsibility to fix their mistakes. They were 100% negligent when towing my car and surely there are others out there who have gone through the same thing. Having 4 eye witnesses, photos, and videos before and after the towing incident hasn't really gotten me anywhere but I will keep pursuing as I will NOT be paying for the damage I did not cause.
