Strough's Supermarket - Store front

Strough's is an exceptionally convenient location to collect your foodstuffs. IGA to me is unique…read morein that it's a staple of smalltown USA across the land and can still be found in many places where big box has not taken over. Overall it's nothing to write home about; the inside is dingy (but not dirty), ceilings are low, floors look like they have been there for 30 years or more. I have never (ever) been impressed with the produce here (should I?) and I have shopped at better IGA's. The meat selection and deli is pretty decent and competitive price wise. The other review that is not recommended is correct on one major point. For a very long stretch, serious construction work was being done directly in front of the store. (It still amazes me how little appreciation town and state planners have for the negative impact of road construction and not considering the lost revenue and tax generators. They should be doing absolutely everything in their power to mitigate impact and it simply was not easily accessible from IN13.) I don't have the full back story on whether the "man" was holding them down as the other author implicitly claimed but it didn't take an advanced degree to realize decreased traffic on IN13 was an enormous fiscal hit. In fact...I didn't come here for at least two years while all that nonsense was going on and assumed they had closed since there were rumors to that end. But the owners roughed it out and stayed in business...big kudos for that alone. Eventually I suspect the market giants of the Marsh and Kroger variety will force the IGA in little Fortville to succumb. But for now...they continue to keep on trucking. I have not (and won't) do all my shopping here but it is exceptionally convenient to have close by in case I only need a few things or a restock on pantry items. In any case, I have a lot of respect for the owners and their perseverance and will continue to patronize as long as they are in the game.

DIRTY, man I don't how this place is still in business. They are doing upgrades now but fixing the…read morelook does nothing for the numerous flies on produce etc

I our Walmart Supercenter here in Anderson, has basically everything we were worried about getting plenty of it! I encourage everyone to visit The bakery at Walmart and try the Naan bread! It is so delicious it because it three flavors. It is a type of flat bread that is used in India add in the west Indies of the Caribbean. What a lovely flatbread and has amazing flavor you just put it in a pan with a little butter and toast or in the oven and give it a bit of heat wow they have so many delicious breads that are available at Walmart supercenter. My family also loves the Never frozen salmon fillet's! Absolutely the whole fish is there for you we make it specially with creative we make a sauce that is out of this world simple! It's whole cream mixed with chopped fresh dill Fran's and lemon juice(fresh)!finely chopped onion and sour cream zest of the lemon 2 or thee tablespoons of tomato paste. FYI What about has changed his opinion about how it treats its employees the only thing that I urge of people to do is don't use the automatic systems to check out go to the ones that have a line and have people working and let's try to save those jobs in America every time you use the self check out your telling any business that it's OK to lay off the cashiers! Drink that there is a very important thing that we stop creating the ability for large corporations To stop everything they can that causes them to have to pay someone! Whatever like all large stores has its pros and cons but if you bake a cake if you want to continue you could find anything at Wilton corporation has to Carrie and also OK bakers needs to be found their pans so forth! Walmart is a great store for what it does I try to stay out of the politics and give you an open review of the store as for services rendered. As well as having a pharmacy Walmart offers you so many other things! Add you could stop and have a sandwich while you're there or Joy what are the other restaurants that have footed stations.

I feel their prices are very fair and the quality is way, way better than you can get at the store. I love that you know what you pick, comes from a healthy local farm. And that's not all they have! They have honey, spices, cheeses, cookies and KETTLE CORN!! The Kettle corn is to die for! They have a little something new EVERYTIME! I should also add that their staff has been super friendly and helpful. I'm super proud to have this store in my community!

With this we ended up at Smith Family Farms Market on Saturday and purchased 3 beef filets for grilling on Father's Day. The service was great and the people were very friendly and helpful. BUT, the best part was the steaks. These were by far the best steaks we had grilled in a long while. They melted in your mouth they were so tender. I braised them over high heat for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes on each side. Then grilled them for 8 minutes on each side. They were very thick and turned out beautiful with slight pink center (temperature was about 150° - 155°). As said they were so tender.. We've found a new go to. Our thanks to the people at Smiths for making our Father's Day meal special!!!
