I stopped by on Sunday morning, October 20, 2024, after checking on my brother's dogs because I needed a hock of ham. The staff members were friendly but only spoke to me after I initiated conversation. Sadly, they didn't have any hocks for my simmering pinto beans. I'm still not certain the guy behind the counter knew what I was inquiring. Lol. The place is brand new. Offers menudo on the weekends. Sells groceries including fresh veggies. The meats looked good. The only issue I had was with the Pine-sol-like smell fumigating my nostril hairs as soon as I walked in. Had I known they were mopping at that hour, I wouldn't have went in. Ample parking spots in a shared plaza lot.

At the register they are friendly and fast. I'm usually here to pick up a case of beer or lotto scratchers for my kids when they make good grades. Oh, and their 10-lb. bags of ice. The last one I got was under $2.50. Also, this is the cheapest gas on this side of town. The lowest I've seen it within about a year's time was back in December 2022 at $2.98 per unleaded gallon. The self-serve Alon gas station itself is fairly large. Diesel is available in both the car area plus there is a separate area for big rigs. Nearby is a decent park called Del Norte Park with a dog park on the east side. I said decent. It's gone downhill a bit, but I still walk my brother's dog there. Also next door is a car wash with self-serve stations, two drive-thru automatic stations, and a dog wash area. There really needs to be more cross walks in this area for the influx of pedestrians. So be careful of jaywalkers!

Prices per gallon as of 3.20.2025: Diesel = $3.35 Regular unleaded = $2.90 Plus = $3.30 Premium = $3.70 Big rigs are welcome. Pumps are to the side and around back. And because I was super curious about the shop side, I walked out with Brownsboro blueberry green tea by Texas Tea ($2.69) and a small pack of Sahale's pomegranate vanilla flavored cashews ($2.59). Easy to get in and out of with trailers in tow. Fuel prices that day: Unleaded (87 octane) = $3.04 Unleaded Plus (89 octane) = $3.34 Super Unleaded (91 octane) = $3.64

Compared to a convenience shop near his hometown, this Stripes in Hobbs, NM sells it for considerably cheaper. Nearly half the price at $35.45. There is quick friendly service at the register. Tap pay works with credit cards. There is a Phillips 66 gas station available. Parking is free with plenty of space out front or on the sides. Maybe someday soon I'll get up the courage to try their Laredo Taco Company which is inside all Stripes stores...

I was trying to make small talk with the cashier while she was frustrated because my card was constantly being declined. I had the proper amount of money in my account to pay for what I needed but still declined. The cashier became extremely frustrated and started rolling her eyes at me when I was trying to make small talk. This woman should not be working in a place like this and neither should her gay counterpart who was staring me down. I asked him if he had a problem and she said, "You can go now and get the f*ck out of here. They were both disgraceful idiots incapable of respecting someone else. Never again will I step in to this dirty smelly store. I have schizophrenia and my illness added fuel to their fire. They looked upon me like a dangerous bug that needed to be stomped out. My lawyer will be calling them. They mistreated a mentally ill older American. I am sick of treatment like that.

This Allsup's has several rows of pumps…read more It's easy to get in and out of with all sorts and sizes of vehicles. On February 21, 2024, fuel by Alon was $2.90 for unleaded, $3.20 for unleaded plus, and $3.50 for super unleaded. The unleaded here is 87 instead of 86 octane which is at most pumps here in Hobbs, NM. My Jeep manual recommends 87. Big rigs have a separate fueling area on the north side that is accessible from two different entrances. The convenience store has all the basic necessities and the staff members are decent. Restrooms inside. Great pit stop heading east towards Texas or coming back home for me. TIP Open 24-hours a day. Happy Leap Day!

I have probably had 80% positive or non-dramatic interactions compared to 20% negative or head-scratching moments with the pharmacy staff. This is one of the cheaper places for beer, wine & liquor. There is free, ample parking all around the lone-standing building - and it's a way nicer Walgreens than the other one in town. One of the older ladies who works the register was scanning my items not long ago and asked me if I knew which movie the song over the PA was from. The song I think was Robert & Johnny's "We Belong Together." I knew the song, but was befuddled as to the movie... She kept scanning & said it was this movie with this red car that was jealous. She talked to me like I knew her for years, but this was the first time I had ever seen her. "It had a girl's name." I smiled. "Christine?" I asked her. Her eyes lit up, "Yeah. That's it! Christine." It was a funny moment in time. If you've seen the movie, you might understand why we were laughing. Now when I see her she smiles bigger than all the times I'd seen her before. And I await the next movie/soundtrack quiz...
