Mario is such a great server & chef! The food was absolutely delicious! Even with all the additions & subtractions to pur meals! My mom & I decided to go to Strings since we don't have one nearby. Typed the restaurant into my "Waze" app. Though I thought it was taking us to the location in Sacramento. We were pleasantly surprised to arrive in Carmichael! We will be back! read more

The salmon was way over done. We shared a lunch special and we're not told it would be an extra $5 charge. The owners/managers are rude. Way over priced for what it is. read more

If you have not had the Pastry Lasagna you are missing out on a great entree. The salad and bread is fresh and tasty. They were out of spumoni which was a bit disappointing but the rest makes up for it. They are the same that were located on Madison Ave. for many years. The new location is chic, spacious and so fresh with lots of parking. read more

I used to love Strings. Last time we came in they wouldn't let us take our bread home because we asked for extra. Today I called and asked to alter my Door Dash Order. I wanted a veggie calzone instead of meat. They simply told me they don't alter for Door Dash orders. Seems silly to loose business for something so simple. I'm really disappointed. read more

Really disappointed this restaurant has gone downhill . My spaghetti sauce was basically water an had bell peppers in it ? And everything else was just kind of bland . It's unfortunate because the staff is wonderful an very attentive read more

I enjoyed my lunch today. Esmeralda was great! the service and food was perfect. I would highly recommend this restauran.

I enjoyed the service. The beef tortellini was perfectly cooked. The mushrooms al dente and cream sauce tasty. I added several tablespoons of parmesan which is set conveniently on table... and it was fresh... not stale like at other Italian restaurants that have it on the table. My friend had the shrimp and scallop fettuccine. He said it was delish... the shrimp still had a nice snap to it (not over cooked) and scallops were buttery. Amanda, our server, was perky and quite attentive to our needs. She was delightful. I'd give this place a 4.5 stars... but I round up because there really isn't any place that is perfect. TeeHee However, our overall experience was a 5! The salad and seafood bisque was quite good as well... I almost forgot to mention the appetizers. And the warm garlic buttered focaccia bread for the table was wonderful. Get the Tiramisu! Worth it!!! read more

It is very nice neighborhood cafe with great selection of Italian American dishes. We enjoyed baked chicken Parmesan, coiopino and pasta sienna. Server was very friendly. read more

Super excited that my favorite restaurant reopened and have a new location on Manzanita. Love the new ambiance the fact that they have TV and they were playing Monday Night Football. I got to enjoy my favorite beer and had the best pizza I've had in a long time. My server Miriam it was delightful, helpful and gave us excellent service. I definitely will be back especially Sundays Mondays and Thursdays when I could watch football for free and have my favorite beer and pizza. :) read more

The service was fine, but the food was bland. Didn't taste any garlic. The food was in dire need of salt. Honestly, I would not recommend this place. read more

Ordered a glass of Castle Rock pinot noir and was served a glass of very low quality burgandy. Server said bottle was opened yesterday and that maybe it went bad. I told him this is not Castle Rock pinot. He opened a new bottle and poured me a glass. Wine was a completely different color. Server stuck with story that other bottle went bad. I paid for beverages and let the manager know that old pinot does not turn ito burgundy and let her know she should be ashamed of herself for filling bottles with cheap wine. I left without eating because if they are dishonest and cut corners with wine, i dont even want to try the food. What a disappointment. read more

I was sad to see that one of my favorite places had closed several months ago. But was excited to see that it had moved to Manzanita Ave! Yesterday I had scheduled a large party of 10 for a going away dinner for my son. When I arrived I was so pleased to see the new decor. It was very warm and had a somewhat rustic modern feel to it. I loved it!! The staff greeted me immediately and already had our table set up. Our waitress, Selena was so warm and friendly. She knew the menu and was able to answer any and all questions anyone in our party had. The appetizers came out in the appropriate amount of time and everyone was pleased with the taste and temperature of what they ordered. Dinner was wonderful!!! Everyone commented about how good their food was. I am so glad to see that even though they have changed locations, they still had many of my favorite menu items. I saw a review on here that complained the portion size was too small??? I did not find that to be even remotely true! What I did notice was they have all new dinnerware and it is larger and different shapes than what they had at the previous location. I am sure this may be the reason the other reviewer thought the portion was smaller as it was on a different size serving dish. I found the portion size to be perfect!! I even brought home quite a bit of my dinner as I was full after the amazing salad, appetizer, and bread. I will definitely be back and probably often. Well done Strings staff, well done!!! read more

Always a good choice. Every entree comes with salad and fresh made bread. Always full and so satisfied when we're done.

Great service and food was delicious first time here and definitely we will come back if you looking for great service and Italian food this great place highly recommend read more

Good food, good service, what else can you ask for. Prices are reasonable too. Will be coming back. Give it a try if you haven't.

I ordered my baby shower food from this company and it was such an enjoyable experience not only do they take the time to make me feel very personable and that the menu was exactly what it needed to be for my party but they have an absolutely great attitude. Would absolutely use them again for other large parties as the food was a huge hit!!!!!!! read more

If you love a warm, rustic, and comfortable restaurant complimented with amazing food then you will love Strings Italian Cafe on Manzanita. We had a broad taste of several dishes and every single one exceeded expectations. If you want something on the light side and like spice I cannot say enough about the Lemon Shrimp Spaghetti with a chili pepper kick! AMAZING. The other key menu items are the zoodles. Now I know most people see zucchini noodles as a way to just "mess up" spaghetti but you really need to try them because they will change your outlook!! Don't forget the Lemon Cake NY style because it just melts in your mouth. The wine list is extremely robust and stays very true to wonderful pairings with the Italian Food. You will want to get here as soon as possible to make it one of your new favorite places to take your kids, family, friends and business colleagues! read more

I have been waiting for this new location to open up for so long! When I walked in I was warmly greeted by a nice lady and then I was greeted by Jim, the manager who was REALLY FRIENDLY AND NICE! I explained to Jim how anticipated I was for this location to open and he took the time to explain to me about why it took so long to open which all made sense. Overall and to sum it all up my first visit here was delightful to say the least! Customer service was phenomenal! Thanks Jim! read more

I love Strings. It's my favorite Italian restaurant. But I will never go back to this location. I always order the pasta Siena with no curry and it's always been the same at every location I've gone to but this one it was really blah and I don't know what they did differently. Also my husbands chicken was raw which was the biggest disappointment. The lady on the phone was nice and gave us extra salad dressing when asked but I still won't return to this location. The one on Micron is great! read more

Contacted Strings a few days ago to ask about delivery. They use a third party Vendor however when I explained my story, Mariam offered to deliver with a days notice. I work at a hospital in LA and one of our physician leaders mother passed away. The family had no funeral just a burial with Dad, son and daughter. We couldn't send flowers so we decided on sending delicious Italian food. Mariam was awesome, she contacted the receiver, followed-up with me and the food was delivered. The receiver was so happy. As we didn't realize it was also his 85th birthday. It made his night. I must add that I had called two other Italians restaurant before Strings but they also used third party delivery. Sometimes things happen for a reason and just as they are supposed to. Thank you Mariam. If I am ever in Carmichael I will definitely stop by. read more

18$ on a pasta dish and there was only 5 raviolis ... greasy, odd texture, and not saucy. The bread that came with our bruschetta tasted like dirty dishes , just absolutely foul. bruschetta was good but they packaged the box in sideways¿ so all the juice fell out of the paper bag, soaked. Our first time eating here and our last, a huge disappointment. read more

Really good food and good customer service and the waiters and waitresses are really nice people.

I will never eat here again. We visited a few weeks ago on a Sunday for lunch. There was one cook and one waitress and lots of hungry people. Our waitress was nice but was sick, runny nose and coughing every time she walked into the kitchen. She also was wearing a black top that was covered in pet hair which we found made its way on our bread. This is a very poor establishment with no concern of staff and customers. Don't even get me started on the food...there was one cook in the back for Sunday lunch that should say a lot for itself. read more

This has never been a stellar place but they had a few unique items, such as artichoke ravioli. Tonight I picked up an order including an appetizer of breaded fried zucchini for $7.25, a small indulgence. I received five small slices of zucchini, approx. 1 inch by 2 inches, $1.40 each. There should have been at least twice as much or more, an appetizer for two people. When I called to complain, I expected a refund. Instead, the manager, Jennifer or something, said if I brought it back she would give me a refund. I should not eat my dinner with family, but get in the car and drive back to the restaurant to return the zucchini. This was after a 20% tip. If anyone thinks this is ok, you are welcome to patronize this business, because they've lost me forever. read more

I've eaten at other strings and had a good meal. This was not the case here. The tea water was Luke warm , the food was a smaller portion and the taste was fair. The bright lights and seats were a big disappointment and service was just fair. No a Friday nigh out to speak highly of. Hope they get better but I'll look for other dining venues . read more

I had placed an order for a company gathering and was very excited to be serving Italian. I called in advance as requested. The DAY OF the event I drove to the location at the time scheduled for pick up and they had a hand written sign saying they were closed for the day. Weird. I didn't receive a phone cal, email or any type of notification of the closing. Emergencies happen, understanding. But my order could have been transferred over to the next strings location as a courtesy. Very upsetting and disappointed! Wont order from here for something like this again. read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat. I have been eating here since the 80's and they have only gotten better. I highly recommend.

Pleasant surprise! Quiet, quaint, little restaurant with class, yet reasonable prices! Interior design is beautiful, and the food is superb. Perfect sized portions, and delicious house made recipes make the overall ambiance simply delightful. I got the zucchini ribbons as my "noodles" and they were perfectly crispy and no where near mushy. Those things are hard to get right and they nailed it! The marinara was deliciously made. The chicken bruschetta was a definite house favorite! The flavor mixture was out of this world! We will definitely be back many, many more times. our server Celeste was very tentative and very sweet. overall the entire experience was well worth the visit! read more

Absolutely AMAZING food, every single time!! Definitely hits the spot for any Italian cravings. Their food has fantastic & delicate flavors, quality ingredients, and always gets my order just right. I was looking for a place to have dinner this evening when I remembered that my husband & I had not yet been to Strings. I pulled up their website and saw that they have an all-you-can-eat pasta special on Wednesday nights priced at $8.99, so my husband & I decided to go. After we were seated, I noticed that the the menu card on the table had the all-you-can-eat pasta special priced at $10.99. I asked the waitress about the price discrepancy and was told the $8.99 was about 3 years old. I explained I had seen it on the website about 30 minutes prior. She said she would go talk to the manager, but came back and said I must have been on the wrong website. I pulled up the website on my phone: https://www.stringscafe.com/, showed her that the Manzanita location is listed there, then showed her the "specials" page: https://www.stringscafe.com/special-offers.html. She took my phone to show the manager, but came back and said the manager said the website was wrong. My husband & I went to speak with the manager directly, but she refused honor the advertised price. So we left. Do they not know that "Bait & Switch" is illegal? read more

We have taken Strings off our list of places to go. It appears they are cutting corners to save a buck. My husband had to go out to the store and buy more sauce to put on his spaghetti. I threw mine out altogether and ordered a pizza from another restaurant. Too bad, they used to be a great place for us to go. Cutting corners doesn't pay in the long run. read more

Came in for lunch today, and it will be the last time I ever do. We ordered waters to start to which we were met with waiter's comedy routine: "Two tequila shots coming right up! haha just joking!" and then he brought us iced teas... The plate and silverware I was given had a giant long black hair tucked into the fork and knife and the napkin and plate. When we brought it to the waiter's attention, his response was; "Well, it's not MY hair...". It's not mine (I have a crew cut), and it's not my wife's who has shoulder length blonde curly hair. I asked, regardless of who the owner of the hair might be, if I could have another plate and silverware set without a hair in it; which we were provided. When he returned to take our order, we informed him that we were no longer interested in eating there, and that we were leaving. He looked completely shocked and asked; "Oh, can I ask what the reason is?" I just left. Sad to see this place devolve into what it is now, because it used to be a really enjoyable place. Scratch another off the list... read more

We went here because the location we normally go to on Douglas closed. We walk in and the lady at the front goes to seat me and my husband. The place is empty and shes putting us right next to an elderly couple. I ask to sit at a different table so we can have a little space (which I'm sure they would have appreciated also). She tells me she cant because one table is reserved and the other few tables were set for 6. She had such an attitude. Im like ok whatever. As we are eating, another couple comes in and they get seated at the table we originally asked to sit at and were denied by the waitress. Such crap. Our waitress was awesome but that lady struck a nerve and we wont be going back. So rude and lazy :/ read more

Have been waiting what seems forever for Strings to open, and it finally is. Honestly can not give enough positive praise for the food, service, ambience and the location. Food was on point as was the staff. It fits perfectly in the little area that is rite down the street from our house. We will be going back and inviting friends and family, as well as recommended Strings to everyone we come across. Thank you all. read more

We live close by and frequent this restaurant. The food is consistently excellent. Entrée prices include soup or salad with refills and their tasty bread, so it is a good value. I love their seafood bisque. Their salads are a cut above those at some other chain Italian restaurants in the area. Their osso buco was to die for when they used to serve it (I wish they brought it back, hint hint). I now love the peach glazed pork chop, my wife loves Natalie's Favorite with chicken, and our son loves the Chicken Parmesan. The service is always friendly. The atmosphere is sort of a semi-modern chic cafe, clean, not noisy like some restaurants. Great place for a relaxing, enjoyable meal. read more
