I got the Lasagna and Tortellini alla panna combo. The Lasagna was barely a clump of meat, I think there was pasta in there somewhere, there was definitely sauce, and lots of it, and some discernible lumps of cheese. The tortellini was just horrible. It was way over cooked and tasted old. None of it was hot. Gross is all I got to describe it. I'm done with Strings. read more

The food, ambiance and service was excellent. We had a party of 10 for a birthday and they were very accommodating. The eggplant Parmesan was delicious. The salad was also very good. They serve either soup or salad with a breadstick with the entrees. They also had Italian soda which was a nice indulgence. I would highly recommend for party's and for larger groups. read more

We had the pleasure of being served by a young man named Freddy tonight. Our first visit and I must say that I was impressed with how well he handled my impossible dietary food restrictions. We both had salmon. I had angel hair pasta with mine, my husband had mashed potatoes. Because of my dietary restrictions I cannot eat any red or white meat anymore so we had to request certain substitutions or items be left out. We were accommodated without any problem. The food was flavorful and I think we will be making a return visit soon. The atmosphere was quiet enough that I could hear my husband and not feel like I was screaming to make myself heard. The couple that had the small child that was fussy even tried to keep their baby quiet. It is a nice place to go for "date night", or for a relaxing dinner out. read more

Husband and I decided to door dash from this location. I was craving pasta and he was craving chicken, the menu had something to satisfy both. We both started with a minestrone soup which I thought was rather good. They serve theirs with large vegetable pieces which I personally really enjoyed as opposed to most places who use tiny ones. I also thoroughly enjoyed that the broth wasn't incredibly salty. I also got the chicken parm which I also really enjoyed. My biggest issue with chicken parms are the breading to chicken ratio. There's always too much breading. Very pleased to say this was not the case here! Very good ratio with great flavor and really good marinara sauce. I will say that I was not the biggest fan of the sauce that came in the pasta. It was a little bland and didn't have much garlic taste but overall not bad, I've definitely had worse. Lastly I did order the lemon italian cake. I did love it, but it's a little pricey for the size. Will be either dropping in or ordering off door dash again. read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Our waitress was Selena, she was friendly and efficient - took good care of us! We shared a Italian Calzone with sausage, pepperoni, peppers, onions, mushrooms, cheese & tomato sauce. Do I think the overall entire experience (i.e. food, service, atmosphere, etc.) at Strings is 5 Stars? Honestly no. The service can downright sucks at times . But thanks to the pandemic, I haven't eaten at the restaurant in quite awhile. Silver linings! So my current 5-star rating is based solely on my recent take-out order. My recent take-out order was quite large and consisted of the baked lasagna and tortellini combo, chicken Alfredo, fried tortellini, bruschetta, fettuccini Milano, and a cheese pizza--all entrees come with the house salad (or soup) and bread. The food was all great, the order was entirely correct, and everyone was super happy. The bruschetta is super garlicky amazingness and my personal fave (lasagna and tortellini combo) was excellent. I love their house salad (sunflowers, raisins, red onion, and house dressing....get in my belly!!!). This is why, despite what I am about to tell you, I gave them 5 stars!!! Now, for my complaint....they are SO stingy with the bread. Full disclosure: I love their bread and am a carb-addict, but c'mon...they've been stingy with the bread for YEARS!!! I've been coming to Strings for at least 10 plus years, probably longer, and they've always been stingy with the bread!! It's maddening. Anyways, so back to the recent order, the lady on the phone that took the order was nice, but when I said "please make sure to give us extra bread bc we are clearly feeding a lot of people" she....wait for it...wanted to charge us extra!! Remember when I said they had bad customer service?? ((insert eye roll)) I was quick to complain about being charged "extra" and reminded her that if we were eating inside, we'd get pretty much unlimited FREE bread (which is sorta true--but I will have to save that story for another review). She responded, "well typically we give 3 pieces per person." Since we were feeding about 10 people, I told her I expected about 30 pieces and that "that was enough," to which she quickly replied "yes of course." So, all in all, we got plenty of bread and didn't get charged. But even if we did want more than that, you'd think they wouldn't mind giving us more since we were spending so much. But whatever Strings. You're lucky I love your food! read more

Nursing home food! Bring your grandma here if you hate her ‍ I was excited to see a dine-in Italian joint so close to where I worked! I only wish I read the reviews first. I don't consider myself hard to impress but this was horrid, absolutely horrible. We even thought it was a "front" for a drug dealer because the food was literally microwaved. The sauce was from a jar and it had absolutely no seasoning or a speck of hope in it. The salad contained wilted leaves. The ravioli was vomit on a plate, I couldn't finish more than two bites because I was in total disbelief when I had the first bite. The biggest insult were the "mashed potatoes," it was just water added to instant potatoes. The frozen food weren't even top shelf items, which added insult to injury. It was crap you could find at the local dollar store, I'm hugely disappointed :/ I wish I could get my money and calories back! read more

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Not only is the food amazing the staff is also amazing. They do their best to go above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. You will get that family feel after a few visits. Unlike the Madison Ave location that needed updates, this location is modern and always sparkling clean. I have several favorites like the Chicken Parmesan or Tortellini Alla Panna. They always accommodate our special requests with a smile. End your visit with some spumoni! Horrible. Italian restaurant that makes what tastes like canned/bottled Alfredo sauce. Chicken was really flavorless. Probably the worst Chicken Alfredo I've ever had. My son and I went here for an early dinner. The restaurant was very clean, the ambiance was nice and their music was excellent. We had the spinach artichoke and pepperoni dip which came with garlic bread - this was delicious, creamy and cheesy! We had the Pasta Siena and the Chicken Lombardy. The Pasta Siena's pasta was cooked to perfection, a little spit but not too much at all and the hint of curry was delicious and unique! The Chicken Lombardy was as yummy with the Marsala and Alfredo sauce. I got the zucchini noodles with the Chicken Lombardy which was angel hair cut and still had a slight al dente texture - this is amazing with the fine cut! I didn't even miss the pasta noodles. We wish we would have had room for dessert - maybe next time! Mario, the chef was very kind, humble and has a passion to see customers enjoy his prepared food. Esmeralda was our server and she is adorable, very personable and helpful when suggesting what to order. We will be back! The service was wonderful. Our waiter was very attentive and kept our ice teas full. The minestrone was lighter than most, but it has really good flavor. My husband got the Caribbean Salad and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was definitely a sweeter salad, which is totally to his liking. I got the roasted salmon over zoodles. I stand by my previous review. The extra charge for the salad was what was quoted to me by your server. I was upset with how bad the food was and chose not to ask for a refund but wanted to let others know the quality of your food has gone down immensely in the past couple of years. I started with the statement that Strings used to be one of my favorite places. I have tried it at least 3 times since you reopened after Covid and each time the quality of food has gone down. Your attempts to save money by cutting corners will be your downfall. I am always contemplative of my reviews and try to inform those reading of what they can truly expect from a business. I think readers should know that you close your kitchen "whenever you feel like it" even if your posted hours say one thing. Additionally, there weren't even posted hours for Sunday that could be read. Your business is failing not because of the cost of the food, but because you are not accepting responsibility for the decline in your quality! read more

My family and I stopped in last night. Haven't had strings for years. The staff is friendly the food is great! I had the chicken parm, it was delish, but let me go back to the salad. Their salad with creamy Italian dressing!!!! OMG! I can't remember the last time I had a better tasting salad than this one. Anyways it's a small place with great, friendly staff and it's not very busy but truly a gem. If you haven't tried strings before it's definitely worth going and make your own decision. Never again! The pasta was undercooked the chicken was over cooked and I'm also pretty sure the chicken parnasian was either from the freezer or leftover from the day before it was hard to chew and very dry. The service was good they were very polite but I don't think I can come here again. My toddler who's got a very limited palate couldn't eat their pizza after 1 bite so it wasn't just me. I really wanted to like it since hubby and I use to be big strings fans before we had kids 10 years ago but the quality of their food was not what it used to be. read more

I dined in the restaurant 8/31/2022 around 12:30 pm. I love their Zoodles if you can see my previous review. Not so much for this review. I was told I could pick anyplace to sit on the left side of the restaurant. There were only 2 tables to choose from as all the other tables were dirty. Except for 2 men finishing up their meal at the same table, I was the only customer. I ordered my Zoodles and Iced Tea. I chose to have a salad as the accompaniment to my meal. The lettuce was limp and the dressing had an overwhelming sour odor. The bread basket came with 2 small pieces of rolls that were soggy in the middle. When my Zoodles arrived...The disappointment in my dining experience continued. It was a bowl filled ONLY with zucchini.. I mentioned to the server there was more to the dish! There were several items missing..He said, " No, the Zoodles are tossed in olive oil-the meal was complete". I mentioned there was supposed to be capers...He then realized the dish was missing several items- The tomatoes, olives, capers, artichoke hearts..I asked to look at the menu again to see if I had made an error. I had not. I could hear him arguing with the cook..I was going to leave, but he told me it was his fault and that is was a miscommunication between him and the cook. I decided to stay and let them correct the dish. In the meantime, the arguing from the kitchen got louder with a few "F" bombs. When my dish finally came to my sticky table-- Yes, the table was so sticky that when I attempted to lift one of the appetizer plates from the table it was STUCK! Once the dish was served again, there was only half of the Zoodles in the bowl that was presented before. The Zoodles were sitting in a bowl that was half filled with water..Still wanting to try to enjoy my meal was an impossibility. The arguing from the kitchen went on. There were flies-Also noted in someone's review a few days ago-starting to hover..Some of the Zoodles had an off color...I had ordered 2 meatballs with the Zoodles and they were ok....When I got the check, it was incorrect...I discussed it with the server and discovered the way I was charged for the Zoodles and meatballs was a correct reflection of the bill. As I was discussing the bill with the server, several flies were swarming around his head..I don't think I will be back to this location. Edit: The company response says the manager apologized to me. I do not remember her apologizing because part of my disappointment was that she did not. Again, the urine on the toilet and floor were dried, meaning the urine had been there long enough for it to dry. When she said a company cleaned 5 days per week, I told her that the restrooms should be cleaned by the staff on duty; she reiterated that they were short staffed, NOT that the staff clean on the 2 days a professional company doesn't come. The appropriate response from the manager when I complained should have been simply: "I'm so sorry; I'll send someone in there immediately." The company's response does not convince me that the restrooms are cleaned properly or that their staff will be properly trained in customer service. Original: So gross. I took my kids to the bathroom after we ate, and there was dried urine on the toilet seat and on the floor. If it's dry, it's been a long time since the bathroom was cleaned! I told the manager and she explained that the cleaner only comes 5 times per week. So this restaurant isn't even cleaned every day! I pointed out that the condition of the restroom often reflects the condition of the kitchen. She nodded and told me they're short staffed. She didn't even try to assure me that the kitchen is clean! I feel sick imagining what it's like where our food was prepared. The manager never apologized or did anything to try to fix the situation. So, we have always gone to Strings, especially on Douglas where they left. Now there is this one. I don't know why the reviews said their sauces weren't good. They are great. We had the pastry wrapped lasagna, the oven cooked raviolis, and the scallop/shrimp fettuccini. Our server, Scotty. was wonderful. If you have not had the Pastry Lasagna you are missing out on a great entree. The salad and bread is fresh and tasty. They were out of spumoni which was a bit disappointing but the rest makes up for it. They are the same that were located on Madison Ave. for many years.
