I…read morehad no idea what this guitar would sound or play like, so I gave Andrew a call (he answered and I got a quote and appointment set up within 5 minutes) I got there and asked him if I needed a setup, and instead of being un-transparent like other repair places, he tested the intonation and sound right in front of me so that I could hear if it was sounding right. He seemed pretty busy this week and told me it would be about a week's wait for my work to be done. Well, Andrew called me in HALF the time he said it would take to finish the job. He let me play it in his home to make sure everything worked okay. Well, holy cow, this guitar sounds and plays better than the Gibson Les Paul classic I hawked a year ago! These guitars have been around the world and in a lot of different studios and they always sound great- live and in studio. The set ups are perfect. I went to them because I thought they were and would deliver Master Craftsman level of work, but it was much less than that and they were not particularly honest about it. They messed up on drilling holes in the bodies but didn't say anything about it until I confronted them on it. That is, they presented the guitars to me in their shop as if everything was as it should be. Later they admitted that they had decided to pass bad work on to me. Apparently they have no quality control or pride in their work. However, they did rectify some of the bad work (mistakes) they did for me after I asked for my money back. They can do really good work, AND they can do really bad work (make mistakes). If you have them do anything, be sure to be very exact about what it is they're suppose to do and be very exact as to how it's suppose to be. What they did for me and to me was very negative and extraordinarily disappointing (and a really bad memory). Consequently, I'm selling, or giving away, or throwing away the parts of the two guitars they worked on for me. I DO NOT recommend them. They are NOT worth the drive IMO. And, what I'm sharing here is an honest account and a "buyer beware" for others. BTW, reviews and/or opinions by people that don't identify themselves are not worth anything IMO. I received a response from the store manager; Mr. Don Denham (of the band American Revival)! Don and I exchanged a few communications regrading the type of lessons that I required for my son. When my son and I came to the lesson today, we were greeted by Don and advised on guitars and the type of lessons that are provided at the establishment. My son not only got a music lesson with his new guitar instructor Ethan, but I also bought my son a new guitar. I appreciate the professionalism, knowledge of music theory, safety precautions taken by the staff during the pandemic AND that I got to meet the guy (Don) in the band all in one visit. Great experience all the way around.

DO NOT take your instrument here for setups…read more I visited Musicians Woodshed last week and initially spoke with one of the guitar techs, Jett Boyd, who was polite and professional. We discussed my bass guitar and the possibility that some frets might need adjustment. When I returned the following week after noticing some fret buzz, I spoke with Miles Manglos. I explained that I prefer a very straight neck with low action and that I was not interested in adding more relief to the neck. Because of that, the logical solution would have been to address the fret work. Instead, he suggested doing a setup that would involve adding relief and raising the action--the exact opposite of what I had just explained I wanted. When I asked whether that meant adding neck relief and how that would affect the current setup, he couldn't clearly explain it. I also mentioned that at a different shop in another city, a tech had previously performed a setup even though I specifically asked him not to and only wanted the jack repaired. I brought this up simply to explain why I was trying to be very clear about the work I wanted done. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, Miles abruptly declined to work on the instrument and told me to leave. He was dismissive and repeatedly said he didn't understand what I was saying. A competent guitar tech or luthier should be able to translate what a musician is describing and communicate clearly about the work being recommended. If a shop cannot or does not want to perform a certain service, that's fine--but it should be handled respectfully and professionally. Unfortunately, this interaction came across as pretentious and unhelpful, and it left a very negative impression of the shop.
