The tour had about 30 of us hopefuls and wow -it did not disappoint! Everyone knows there's no guarantee on a tour like this, but you always hope for the best. Our crew of two gave us some nice historical information about the island and great geographical info about the tides and how the island shore is changing. Then we started to spot the dolphins. Two over here, three that way, a pod in front-so exciting! We were able to see dozens of these beautiful creatures and some very close to the boat. During the tour, we hopped onto one of the sand bars, popped over to a beach on another island, and paddles through some of the marsh! He gave some amazing information on the golden isles and about the sea. He helped us find sand dollars and different types of shells. He took photos and videos of us, so we didn't have to bring phones! We really appreciated that and got a great family photo as a result! Stellar experience. She has been painstakingly refurbished for cruising pleasure and is the only shrimp vessel on the entire east coast that has been certified by the USCG to carry 49 passengers offshore 20nm.. For $40 (worth every penny), you get out on the water while the crew trawls the water. They do this twice, pulling up all kinds of sea life, and take the time to explain everything and passengers are encouraged to touch, ask questions and hold the animals. We set sail from the dock in Brunswick and soon were winding our ways through the inland waters of St. Simons Sound. The marshy surroundings seemed to glow in the late afternoon sun, while a line of seagulls trailed behind us awaiting their dinner. Captain Larry E. Credle is operator/owner of Credle's Adventures LLC " The Lady Jane," and president of Coastal Marine Consultants, a company that provides expert consults for marine related incidents. He is a marine surveyor and holds memberships in a number of professional societies. The title of Captain comes from holding a U.S.G.C Master's Rating. Captain Larry has served in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years, holds a number of specialized qualifications and is an instructor. He comes from a family with a rich heritage on the water. The first time Larry was called Captain, he was running a commercial fishing vessel in the family business. He has been active in building and repairing boats from 11 foot fiberglass dingies to hand laid 70 foot vessels. A lifetime of working on the water has prepared him for his current position as owner and master of the Lady Jane. Our guide - Cliff - was not only incredibly knowledgeable, but has been sailing these waters with his dad - the Captain - since he was nine years old. Talking to him was the closest I might ever come to meeting a marine biologist. A walking marine encyclopedia, doing the work of his father, and his father's father. After trawling the water for about 15 minutes, Capt. Larry instructed him to pull it up. Shrimping nets are outfitted with wooden tongues that help keep them open underwater as they dredge the ocean floor. The Lady Jane runs a single net, however commercial shrimp boats are able to run multiple nets at one time by using giant booms which extend from the sides of the vessel and keeps them from becoming tangled underwater. Fish, sharks, sting rays, jelly fish...so many awesome things came out of that net! Cliff took the time to explain each different kind of fish and interesting things about each of them. Like, if you rub the belly of the blue crab it falls asleep. With a quick tap, it wakes right back up. He told us when shrimp sense danger (using that really long hair in the front) the curl up and shoot back While we were learning about our catch, John Tyre, USCG Licensed 100 ton Master, was cooking up some shrimp for us to eat. He grew up aboard his fathers shrimp boat, the late Benny Tyre, a well known commercial fisherman. John learned from his dad the in's and out's of commercial fishing. He is also a firefighter.

Our charter trip aboard the S/V Shenanigans on a Saturday in July was the highpoint of the summer…read morefor our family. We live in Charleston, but rarely spend time on the water. We found out what we have been missing! First, the boat and crew: The sailboat is a catamaran with a living area (Sherry and Gaelen call it the salon), a kitchen, bedrooms, and several bathrooms. The deck has a freshwater shower, lots of seating area, and grill...and the boat is immaculate. We had spent very little time on boats, but this one impressed us! Sherry and Gaelen are the crew, very welcoming and helpful, and particularly patient with children (we had 4 aboard). Second, the trip: We left their dock right next to the USS Yorktown mid-morning for a tour of the Charleston harbor, and finally anchoring just off Morris Island, a small recreational island empty but for a lighthouse. After swimming off the boat and having lunch, Sherry and Gaelen took us over to the beach on the island (by way of their dingy named "Minion"). We spent the afternoon enjoying the beach and the company, finding shells and sharks teeth, and watching the never-ending parade of boats go by. As the day closed, we returned to the dock and disembarked. It truly was a fantastic day, and I would recommend this charter to anyone living in OR visiting Charleston Visited July 2013

I wanted to take my 16 year old daughter out, as she has never been on a boat. Capt. Mark explained this may not be a good fishing day. Due to all of the extreme rain we had, the water was very muddy. Oh but he knew a few spots, and it was excellent. The day was beautiful, the water was perfect, and calm, and every cast received a bite or a hook, . We had an awesome "grilled red and speckled trout dinner" that night, and the best part, was my daughter caught the biggest fish. Capt. Mark's love of fishing, all of his life, is what makes him the best Capt. for charter fishing in the Golden Isles. I can't say enough great things, or wait to go back out with him.
