Jeff (I hope that is the correct name) was so good to me, telling me where to sit and look for the best chance of not feeling ill.

We settled in and set off for the ride to Looe Coral reserve for snorkeling- 1st stop. We beat the crowds and secured the best tie off spot. We spent about an hour enjoying the below the surface life. We even swam with a sea turtle. The snorkeling was the best I've ever experienced, and I guess that's why Looe Key is one of the top ten worldwide snorkeling places listed in last month's issue of SCUBA. After capturing some kicking videos underwater with the GoPro, we climbed back aboard and headed out to the flats to check out a few sand bars. He picked a great spot, devoid of other fun seekers and after a beat we opted to head out for more touring. We went back into the mangroves and checked out the local sights. Cap'n Clint was so forthcoming with information and he is knowledgeable and so much fun! He has history here, and it shows. I hope to go again and I am definitely booking this for when my family comes to visit. Things spotted while boating: sea turtle diving, sting ray, some type of shark (No dolphins, . this time, but they're out there somewhere!) Things not spotted: other tours . Thank you Clint Moore for a great day- we will try for better than baloney on bread next time (bad on us)

They exceeded every expectation. Captain James and his first mate, Allison, were absolutely fantastic. They were friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about making sure everyone had an amazing experience. The boat was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making for a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon on the water. The snorkeling itself was incredible. The water was beautiful and clear, and we saw an amazing variety of marine life, including colorful tropical fish, large schools of fish, small sharks, barracuda, and so much more. Every time we looked beneath the surface, there was something new to discover. One of the highlights of the trip was the dolphins. Captain James went above and beyond to make sure everyone had the best possible view. He carefully maneuvered the boat so we could watch them from different angles, and at one point he even got them behind the boat where they followed along, jumping and playing in the wake. It was absolutely magical and made for some incredible videos and memories that we will treasure. I would also like to recognize Tabatha in the office. She was wonderful to work with from the very beginning. She made the reservation process simple and stress-free, answered all of our questions, and was genuinely kind and helpful. It was a pleasure meeting her in person as well. From start to finish, the entire experience with Looe Key Reef Dive Center at Looe Key Reef Resort was exceptional. The staff, the boat, the snorkeling, the wildlife, and the customer service were all top-notch. We had an unforgettable afternoon and would absolutely book with them again. If you're looking for a snorkeling adventure in the Florida Keys, we cannot recommend them highly enough.

Usually a long holiday weekend in the Keys is a challenging thought, as the traffic and weekend warriors tend to make a 4 hour trip into an 8 hour one, but given the break in the work schedule and the weather report, along with a highly recommended fishing charter operation out of Summerland Key, it was time to test the traffic gods and head south for a few days. We made it in record time, amazed that we arrived in time for sunset! We found our accommodations, settled in for the night, and enjoyed the most beautiful sky full of stars that can only be seen in these "away from the city" places, where the background light doesn't affect your view of the heavens. The next morning, we met up with JT and Debi Gabriel, gathered our belongings, and boarded the "fishing machine" for our day on the water. , being fair skinned Canadian and a desk jockey, completely covered myself in SPF80 sunblock for the day out on the water. The boat was roomy, had all the modern conveniences (we were able to charge our phones, enjoy our choice of music, enjoy beverages and lunch, fully equipped with all the modern navigation technology you could imagine). After helping load the bait wells with bait (fun!) we left on our adventure. The bay water was like a lake, calm, not a ripple. We stopped for gas at a local marina, where I picked up a pair of surf mocks/water shoes for $14 as my original footwear was not appropriate for the journey, as I was forewarned my apparel may be adorned with souvenirs of our trip, like fish blood and guts if we haul in a monster. Glad I did. We headed out east/southeast, for the first time in my life I was in a boat (other than a cruise ship) offshore out of plain sight of land. We crossed not one but two shipping channels as loaded freighters were heading south, and spotted a huge sea turtle along the way (very cool!). Finding frigate birds and weedlines we slowed down and hit a school of Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), where JT and Debi helped us with rods and bait, and before we knew it, we're reeling in fish in a fishing frenzy! We boated a few, kept the legal sized ones (one HUGE fish), and continued on for a while. Finding a fishing spot he knew from before, JT employed a power reel/rod combo for deep water bottom fishing. An impressive technical rig of multiple hooks, lights, etc. As we couldn't believe how calm, serene, and flat the ocean was today, and the partly cloudy skies gave us a little bit of relief from the powerful sun and heat, we enjoyed lunch and beverages waiting for our "guests below to announce their arrival". Next thing we know, JT's reeling up the line, and we have a beautiful tilefish in the cooler. Fifteen minutes later, a good sized snowy grouper! We realized the time and began to head back in, slowly trolling in the hopes of catching something, when we saw porpoises breaking the water in the distance. We slowed down and found huge (OK, 14 feet of shark is huge to me) sharks slowly circling the boat. We needed to empty the bait well anyway, and it was happy hour for the sharks, as the small bait fish hit the water, the graceful creatures helped themselves to our hors d'oerves. We soon had four to five of them, almost like a water ballet, circling on both sides of the boat, keeping us company while we had fish to offer. It was very impressive, and a memorable moment. We headed back to the dock, where JT cleaned/filleted the fish, and Debi cleaned out the boat and helped us gather our belongings. We cleaned up ourselves and were invited for dinner where we enjoyed the fish caught on our adventure, along with a few cocktails. The stars were out again, and some celestial event with Mars and Venus took place, and were clearly evident and visible to the naked eye. An absolutely amazing day and night, I highly recommend Boneafide Charters for anyone wanting to enjoy their day on the water in the Keys, for fishing, snorkeling/eco trips, and more.

There are 3 beach areas, a campground/cabins, picnic areas and boat ramps. It's very much a place to relax on the beach and take it easy. Bahia Honda is the tropical paradise that you probably imagine when you think of the Florida Keys. Bahia Honda's beaches--Sandspur, Loggerhead, and Calusa--are one of the biggest draws to the park. Each one is beautiful and worth a visit. Bahia Honda is a great place to swim as the water temperatures are typically warm and the water is shallow. See, it also depends on time of the year, like for us, Sandspur beach was full of seaweed. and i found loggerhead beach to shallow and it was really great to swim over there. while you are here, A fun thing to do is take the quick trail up to the old Bahia Honda Bridge that you can see from Calusa Beach and the very edge of Loggerhead Beach. This is the only trail here and it's a pretty quick walk. The walk is fairly short and you aren't allowed to go far along the bridge as it breaks off at some point. However, you do get to go up high enough to see Bahia Honda from above. The bridge has a great view of both of the beaches. Depending on time of day, you might get a different view. There is little to no shade on the beach. If you are wanting to stay all day, you might want to bring your own umbrella for the beach! Cost: $8 per vehicle, $4.50 for vehicles with one person, $2.50 for pedestrians + cyclists

Bahia Honda means "Deep Bay" and refers to the deep bays of Bahia Honda Key. It is pronounced Bah -EE-ah Own da. It is 30 feet deep which makes it the deepest natural harbors in the Keys. It was established in 1961and is known for its history as part of Henry Flagler's "Overseas Railroad" and is now known as the Overseas Highway. In 1935 there was a huge hurricane that destroyed the railroad. What makes this park so unique is that it is encompasses an offshore island and it sits between Ohio Key and Spanish Harbor Key close to the west end of the Seven Mile Bridge. The park has 524 acres of lush beauty. It is open everyday of the year from 8am - sundown and the fee is $8 per vehicle. Clean restrooms and outdoor showers available. There is so many things to do such as snorkeling, swimming in the gin clear crystal waters, hiking out to the Old Bahia Bridge, birding, camping, boat rentals, a concession stand, rent a cabin, kayak, fishing or visit the nature center. We found parking easily and made our way out on the trail to the Old Bridge. The views from up here are panoramic. After viewing the bridge and the views, we really could not resist taking a dip at one of the beaches. The water was still warm enough to swim in November and it felt fantastic. What I love most about the state park beaches along the Keys are all the marine life you can view while swimming or just walking on the beach. No place like it! If I could give this park 10 stars I would, it is that incredible. Cannot wait to come back again.
