Not sure what grade of oil or brand of oil filter they used. At about $120, it's very expensive. Clearly you are paying for convenience. As a former tribologist, mechanic and DIYer, I can do this job myself in 15 minutes for about $35-40 (using a group 3 / group 3 PAO blend "synthetic" like Mobile 1, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum or similar), and an OEM filter which is my personal preference. I don't know what grade of "synthetic" they use. Many oils labeled "synthetic" are not group 4 / 5 based oils, ie PAOs or Esters - true synthetics. Most are made from group 3 base stocks - a highly refined, ultra clean petroleum. Having said that, as long as the API donut meets your engine's requirements, you are fine. I recommend changing the oil every 5,000 miles. Knock 20% off of that if your car is turbo charged or 4,000 miles. Obviously PAOs and Esters will give you better protection especially at the thermal extremes but come at a premium price. I'm positive these oil change shops do not use true synthetics because they are cost prohibitive and would eat their profit margin. Caveat emptor.

Took my truck for an oil change and the jack they use to open the hood (which I assume is for safety, totally understand) pushed my hood back further than it usually goes. As a result, I have a crack on the corner my windshield. Took it for an estimate immediately and was advised it has to be replaced - almost a $700 charge. Let me say too, I've gone here for a few years, and I love the guys who work in the shop. They're professional and friendly, and have never an issue previously. This time, I did mention the crack at the time of service, and the poor gentleman doing my oil change looked terrified I was going to make a scene. So I resolved to contact the corporate office. Called Thursday afternoon on my way home from the oil change, was sent to voicemail. Twice again on Friday, one to the office in Apex and the other to Charlotte. Both sent to voicemail. Had to pay to tow it back there, they charged me another $800 for "a different" reason. Literally have had it for 5 days and it breaks down again. Paid for another tow and they are telling me it is going to be $1,500 for yet "a different" reason. There is no way. They are rude and absolutely awful to deal with. My car has broke down 3 different times with my three kids in the car and I am out over $3,000 for nothing.

I dropped my car off Wednesday morning and was told "we can't get to it today but we'll call you tomorrow". I left Rackley's with instructions to let me know the cost and nature of repairs before performing any work and was assured that this would happen(it didn't). I get a call later from Zach to ask why my car is there(again) and am told(again) that they'll call me and let me know what they find. After hearing nothing for three days I call Rackley's on a Saturday to find out what's going on with my car and am told they finished the work(!) and that someone will totally call me Monday morning when it's ready to be picked up. Of course, Rackley's fails to call Monday morning so I give them a ring a couple hours before they close and they tell me my car still needs work(?) and that after Zach checks on something they'll call me right back. Rackley's never calls back and I have to call them, yet again, and tell them to stop whatever they're doing and that I'm on my way to pick up my car. I'm floored by the lack of communication and professionalism from Rackley's and despite living within walking distance will never use them again.
