Update: There's…read morestill a lot to like here, but the studio has kind of been eroding since I last reviewed it two years ago. First the good news: they seem to have repaired what was a deeply unreliable and often broken furnace/humidifier -- I was frustrated by going to "The Hot Room" only to find it "The Warm Room" or even "The Cool Room." That said, the disappointing: the old sense of community at this studio is largely gone -- often feels more like a mid-range gym where you show up, do your workout, and leave. Little amenities that used to be there are now gone without explanation. Inflation? Seems as though there are fewer classes than there once were, but that may be perception rather than reality. I especially miss the "open studio" times that enabled one to come in and "practice one's practice" on one's own schedule. Maybe that was just a covid thing? Regardless, it's something that was once included that is no longer there. There has been a surprising amount of turnover in management, staff, and instructors. Fortunately, the best Inferno Pilates instructor has hung around through this, and the new yoga team is very solid. For the most part, the turnover doesn't necessarily bother me from a practice standpoint, but it does make me wonder why people keep leaving... Finally, there used to be a great end-of-week Friday afternoon 26/2 class -- with music. A fun tradition, and a great way to kick off the weekend. Despite repeated assurances from the owner that it would be reinstated, it hasn't been. Again, schedules and classes change and that's understandable -- it's unkept promises that are concerning. So, it used to rock. It's just ok now...but unless you want a long drive, it's kind of the only game in town. PS -- Their cancellation policy is kind of BS. It's one thing to charge no-shows if a class is full and your no-show keeps someone else out. But with a well-managed wait list (which they have) and classes that usually AREN'T full, charging for cancellations within (what I think is now) 6 hours (used to be 12?) is kind of a lame money grab. Bad karma.

It was really easy to book a class and I thoroughly enjoyed it with Joseph. I downloaded the app and have found it easy to navigate. I love that it keeps your schedule after reserving classes. The things I didn't like are that there are not different levels, and there are no descriptions of the different classes on the app. After my free class they had a promotion for all the classes you can take in two weeks for $59. Without understanding all of the differences or knowing the instructors (some places have profiles on their websites), I booked several classes that worked with my schedule not knowing the differences, and definitely enjoyed two of my three classes so far. I appreciate the kindness of all of the instructors when they realize that someone is new, and the follow-up asking for feedback is nice as well. (I also received text asking how things were going and if I had any questions, yet when I wrote back with a question I never got a response.) A lot of regulars go here, which is encouraging as well. All ages too! I was feeling old but there are quite a few seniors, which made me feel comfortable with being somewhat out of practice. I have enjoyed most of the instructors who encouraged us to go at our own pace and don't single people out or embarrass anyone as some places do. I have come out drenching with sweat but feeling great! I have several classes to go so we'll see if I've found a new yoga home.

1 star. 8-year member, and this club keeps getting less family-friendly…read more I've been a paying member at FFC Park Ridge since it opened. For a long time, one of the best perks was bringing my kid on weekends -- she could hang out nearby while I got a quick workout in. That's over. FFC now charges $25 for a "Kids Club" membership, and even if you pay it, your kid is only allowed in two places: the Kids Club room or the gym. Not the floor, not sitting quietly nearby -- nothing else. I found this out the hard way when staff asked me to leave the floor because my 5-year-old was standing next to me while I finished up an 8-minute workout. Sunday, quick workout, kid just waiting for me -- and I still got kicked off. For a gym that used to market itself as family-friendly, charging long-time members extra money for less access is a bad look. Eight years in and this is how they treat loyal members with kids. Can't recommend FFC Park Ridge to any parent right now.

They are both very knowledgeable and classes are reasonable sized groups with personal attention to ensure you do the exercises correctly. After baby #1 I tried to get back into my work out routine line nothing happened and ended up in a world of hurt. For baby #2 I signed up for the "From the Core" program and glad I did. I was amazed at the difference I saw in strength in just 5 weeks and how it effected even small things like my posture and overall comfort. It was great to have a reason to get out of the house and to meet other mom's with baby's around my age. Hands down the best thing I did for myself after having my second child.

I took Coach Cassandra's Post Natal Core Recovery Class this Fall/Winter and am so incredibly glad…read morethat I did. I enjoyed strengthening my core and whole body without working out too aggressively and risking injury post-baby. You learn a variety of exercises during each class and all of them can be scaled and done at home - you get print outs with all of the exercises. Coach C is awesome, very motivating and has a wealth of knowledge and expertise about fitness, nutrition and overall wellbeing. It was reassuring to workout under her guidance as she provided helpful tips to correct form and posture. There really isn't anything that compares to this class if you want to get stronger and more fit after giving birth.

They are known fo removing reviews for businesses, in. fact they've already lost lawsuits over the issue. I made an introductory appointment to begin learning Tai Chi, only to then be told in person that they actually do not teach Tai Chi but a Korean martial art similar to tai chi. Then the instructor attempted to sell me on workshops and retreats that I never asked about. I came home and did some research. Body & Brain has been deemed a cult by many that have tried their services. The founder Ilchi Lee's brain education is considered pseudoscience. A simple wiki search will give you all of the details about their past issues. This seemed eerily similar to Scientology with body movement included. This is a scam!

About 4 years ago, they also attended a dance class, but I noticed on my recent last visit to watch them, that the dance studios have all been removed, some remodeling done, and the whole facility is now oriented to gymnastics only. Attached are some recent photos of the remodeled sections. I don't really know anything about the administration of their programs, but the daughter is pretty happy about their program, the cost, and the girls' progress and enjoyment. Most sessions are filled months in advance, and there are waitlists for every level as their whole program is very popular. One complaint I have heard though is that when a kiddo gets promoted to the next level, they may still have to wait a few weeks or months to move up as there are no openings at the next level. They have a ton of staffers and if you want to be a junior gymnastics instructor, this place sure seems to draw a lot of them for what that's worth.

I went to Summit when my back hurt so badly I could barely sleep. It was really a series of things,…read morecarrying a three year old around, running, sitting hunched over a computer for hours on end, and dreadful posture. The class was an hour. Here's what I walked out with: learning how to hold my spine, learning how to bend over, learning how to pick things up, and mostly, learning to up keep from injuring myself again. And while all of those things are amazing, the most remarkable thing was that end the end of my first session I was pain free. The odd thing is that it's hard. I'm not running, jumping, or doing push-ups, but learning how to hold myself upright is remarkably challenging. This is not a workout class, this is health and maintenance. This is muscle training and injury prevention. This is basically a guarantee to pain free living.
