The gym offers both free weights and machines for practically every body part. The members range from bodybuilders to senior citizens. Yet, unlike chains, University Fitness is not a "seen and be seen" place; so, no dropping weights on the floor with a loud bang followed by making sounds to get noticed. This is not a "pick up" joint! Members go there to workout. Personally, I like the fact that there are no contracts, no deposits, etc. -month-to-month. The staff is friendly, gym is super clean, weights are always where they are supposed to be, and they have everything you need to get it done. The other gyms are also filled with tripod losers and I have never seen this at Retro. Much more mature crowd in there most of the time and it's never crowded. Whether you want to lift, HIIT, cardio, machines, free weights, etc. They have something for everyone. They also make smoothies which I've never had but they look good and I always see people getting them. I also never use the classes or recovery room so I can't speak to those either. Definitely not as big as the other gyms I mentioned but as I mentioned earlier, it's never crowded. Definitely check out this hidden gem, unless you're a tripod tool, go to LA Fitness for that.

Unfortunately, today I witnessed a completely unhinged and disgraceful display of behavior from another staff member -- Andrea, a group instructor who clearly has no business interacting with the public, let alone working in a professional fitness environment. The gym was packed, so Carolina and I went into the small group training room, which was completely empty at the time. A class was scheduled for 6:30pm, and we both agreed that we would immediately vacate if and when members started arriving. Simple. Respectful. Practical. But when Andrea stormed into the room after 6:30, she didn't walk in with basic human decency or professionalism. She barged in aggressively, yelling at Carolina and creating a chaotic and hostile environment while I was in the middle of my set. Carolina, in contrast, remained calm and respectful, and tried to explain the situation -- that the room was empty and we were just using it temporarily. Andrea, instead of handling things like an adult, continued to mutter snide and inappropriate comments under her breath and stormed out like a child throwing a tantrum -- all because two people were respectfully using an empty room that she clearly feels some sort of misplaced ownership over. The kicker? When her "class" finally started, it had only THREE people -- plenty of space for everyone, no conflict, and zero justification for her unprofessional outburst. It was theater for the sake of ego, and it was embarrassing to witness as a paying member. To make matters worse, Andrea apparently felt the need to go "tattle" to management -- which, thankfully, backfired. I spoke to Kevin, the manager on duty, who was incredibly professional and understanding. He listened carefully and took my concerns seriously, which I appreciated. I've loved this gym, and every other staff member has been a joy to interact with. But if Andrea's behavior today is a glimpse into what's to come, then Youfit has a serious problem on their hands. One toxic, power-tripping employee can ruin an otherwise great environment. This behavior should not be tolerated -- not toward a fellow employee, and certainly not in front of a paying member. However, I was charged twice in June ($32.09), followed by additional charges in July, August, September, and October ($16.78 each). Instead of canceling my membership as requested, it was downgraded--despite the fact that I have never used your gym and have SilverSneakers coverage. I spoke with representatives from their billing company, ABC Club, regarding this matter. Since my cancellation request was not honored and I have been continuously charged for services I never used, I will be disputing these transactions with my bank. Additionally, I will escalate this matter to SilverSneakers. Now, I am receiving a demand letter from Aldous & Associates threatening to damage my credit unless I pay an additional $178.16 for services I never received. These charges are unauthorized and fraudulent. I have no dependents and have not received any personal care services, further reinforcing that these charges are unjustified. What I love about this place is that unlike other pitches, you don't have to make up the monetary difference if someone doesn't show up. It's not $100 per hour, but rather $10 per person per hour. I love that and it's great customer service. The pitch is in good condition, there are moderately clean bathrooms to change at, and the people that work here are very nice. There is also a crossfit right next door if soccer isn't your thing. Need water? They sell some here too along with Gatorade. It's about $1 or so. Definitely the place to check out for soccer pitches in Broward. I only wish I lived closer so I wouldn't have as far a drive home!
