CFQ and their types of xfit workouts are helping me discover more of the 'functional' areas of fitness, beyond just lifting heavy things, but pushing my body (and psyche!) in new ways. The coaches are great, and what keeps me going back. I kept my regular gym membership just to have that option when I'm not feeling like a class, but if one's budget allows, it's worth investing in a trial at least to test out the vibe!

Two levels and pretty decent square footage of strength and cardio options! Overall my experience there has been good and no real glaring issues that I'm noticing. The locker rooms are alright and can be cramped at times especially when many of them have a reserved sign on them. Sauna is a bit tiny and can really only fit maybe 2 people at a time. It's also awkwardly placed so your view is of everyone coming in and out of the room. Overall, glad I didn't let negative reviews sway me in another direction as I'm happy to be a member here

This class is perfect for people like me who get bored easily or for those who don't like doing an exercise move for more than 2 minutes at a time. The instructor, Luis, was absolutely amazing! He knew that it was both mine and my husband's first time taking a class at this location and he was very welcoming and friendly. Additionally, he was so great at watching all of us as we did the moves at each station. Anytime he saw bad form or someone doing something wrong, he immediately rushed over to assist. Although I've been doing HIIT workouts for 6+ years, the majority of which was with free weights or body weights. I have experience using the Row Machine, but very little experience using the Ski Machine. I really appreciated Luis coming over to help me learn how to use the Ski Machine properly!!! This kept me from getting injured and while also allowing me to actually get work done while using it. **TIP: They didn't do a warm up - we just jumped right in to the stations as soon as class started. So I recommend you warm up before class - you can thank me later!

The nice thing in group classes is that you can go at your pace and hopefully see progress for future classes. The HITS NYC boxing class was a lot of fun and even though I was a beginner, the owner and instructor Luis Novas, helped me out when I didn't know how to do the punches like everyone else. In addition to time on the bags there was also 1:1 time with training paddles with Luis which gets with technique and self esteem for the newbies like me. Overall, there's a great community feel to this gym. You can tell that Luis has a good number of regulars and it's easy to see why. I get that they're going for a very bro coded boxing gym vibe, but the locker rooms in this place were just dirty. Gross stuff in the corners in the bathroom, and the toilet itself looked like it hadn't been cleaned or wiped down in some time. The workout itself was challenging but also had a very small portion of actual boxing for being a boxing gym/class. About 75% of the class was running and conditioning. There weren't enough boxing bags for everyone to have their own, so we switched off with a partner who did other body weight exercises while we boxed. The boxing combinations weren't very complex. The instructor was hard to understand. If this was the only workout available at the time slot I was looking to work out at that day I'd take it, but this was not a great experience for me. That said, if you love running indoors in a circle and don't mind a little bathroom grime this might be your new favorite place.
