The little kids pool is very spacious with a few sprinklers, and then the big pool is quite large with a slide and a diving board. There is also a playground area and a snack shack. Overall this is a nice thing to have in our community, and $500 for a family summer membership feels reasonable.

A Pool Where You Can Relax on the Grass…read more The Morris Plains Community Park Pool has some nice amenities: Swimming Lanes, Water Slide, 2 Diving Boards, Wading Pool, Grassy Areas, 2 Stationary Canopies, Men's & Women's rooms, and a Basketball Court. The Wading Area was gated and seemed relatively safe for little ones to play while supervised. The turtle and flower fountains were definitely something to see. The main pool was sectioned off into 3 main areas. The far end of the pool next to the Wading Area was set up for general play which included a little water basketball hoop. The center of the pool was set up use of the water slide, diving boards, and swimming lanes. The street side of the pool was set up for leisurely wading/swimming. Pros: The Pool Slide was fun and felt like it was shooting you out into the pool at top speed by the time you got to the bottom of it. The Wading Area was super cute. The grass lawns where you could set up some of your own chairs offered a sense of being at home or at the park. Cons: Even with the daily highs in the mid 80s for the past few days, the water was freezing. My family was all shivering even though we were swimming around in the water. The pool surface texturing inside the water occasionally felt like it was raking your feet instead of providing any kind of traction. The staff decided to clean the Men's changing room before the patrons were gone which caused it to be unavailable for use for more than 15 minutes. It was also left in soaked state which made it impossible to change out of one's wet clothes and into dry clothes in any kind safe or satisfactory feeling way. It was nice to visit for a few hours, but I don't think this will be the primary pool that my family visits during pool season.

Although we didn't try the water slide because we were visiting only for a swim meet, the facility had kiddie splash pool and a wading area to provide plenty of options for a wide age range of swimmers. If you get some deja-vu when you visit, that might be because Morristown's Streeter Swim Pool and changing rooms appear to share the same exact layout. (Why build one when you can build two at twice the price!) The Ginty Pool has a decent number of trees on one side that provide welcome shade, and it also has an excellent snack bar with chicken tenders that earned rave reviews from our two little swimmers. The line for food can get long when it's really busy, but the large servings of homemade lemonade and the variety of snacks and frozen treats make it worthwhile. The burgers also looked amazing, though we didn't have the chance to try them.

The grounds are very nice and taken care of, so if you choose to lay down your blanket, you're on a nice bed of grass or under a shady tree or canopy. The snack bar has some really good food beyond your regular french fries and ice cream. Try the chicken caesar salad; light and refreshing! The kiddie pool has a cute frog slide, sprayers, and a small splash pad, as well as these fun bucket type things that fill with water and dump water into the pool (or on you if you choose!). Adults can go into the kiddie pool and vice versa. One of my favorite things about this pool is that they let kids wear floaties and swimmies in all the pools which is great for both parent and child. A visit for the day with a member is $8 which is very reasonable and their membership for seniors is only about $100 for the season. It's a very clean establishment and well-maintained. Perfect place for a hot summer day!

The owner, Coach Jenn Ott is great with the kids and does a great job of keeping a small class size so the kids really get time to swim. In other schools that we tried, our kids spent more time waiting than swimming. We first started with our older daughter who was 10 at the time with no swimming experience. Within 4 lessons she had real confidence and was swimming quite well. Now 2 years later she still takes lessons just to improve technique but has swam competitively in our town because of Sea Ott. We then enrolled our 3 year old. With her we did private lessons rather that group. The rates are very reasonable and the teachers are great. She is now 4 and has no fear of the water because of Sea Ott. We have just had great experiences here and would recommend them to anyone.

I am also so happy that Wheeler park welcomes everyone from all over NJ (and elsewhere). Coming from out of the county will cost you a bit more, but not much. If you live outside of Union County it is $4.00 for kids ($2.00 in county) and $6.00 for adults ($3.00 in county). This splash pad has every water feature a kid could ever need - from bigger twisty water slides, to a small dragon water slide. Also, water guns that you can shoot each other with, a pirate boat, water shooting up from the ground, and much more. My kids spent a little over 2 hours here and had an absolute blast. We've been here about 3 times and it never disappoints. Just be sure to bring some sort of shade covering. There isn't much cover at the splash pad so we usually bring our small beach tent with us. There is also a dry playground in the splash pad gated area where kids can play too. They have staff who help keep the kids safe and to make sure everyone goes down the water slides safe and sound. I highly recommend Wheeler Spray Park on a hot summer day.
