The owner knew their items well and gave us plenty of information, and assisted us on looking at different items before we made our decision on a few glass bead pieces my daughter loved for her treasure box. What a great little art supply store in Florence! First off, the woman who I talked with while I…read morewas there is fantastic. I think she may have been the owner, but I'm second-guessing myself a bit now. I was on the Charm Trail. We got to talking and somehow it came about that while I'm from Eugene I currently live in Chicago, and she happened to live in Chicago at one point, too. We also both worked at universities in the city. Just having a chat with her made it a fun stop. The store is very clean and has many of the art supplies one would need to create their next masterpiece--paper, canvases, paints, pens, you name it. They have information about workshops and art-related events as well. I am not much of an artist but I did do a paint night in grad school once and found it to be a lot of fun (surprisingly so--it was very soothing). That is to say, you may also find painting to be a relaxing activity, so if you've ever wanted to pick up the hobby, visit here and you'll good guidance from very helpful staff. I was a bit sad that it's not in Eugene, since I don't get to Florence very often even when I'm home visiting, but coming here did spark creative energies that I'm hoping to follow in the coming months!

Bryce, the owner/artist, is very friendly and it's really nice to see someone do something they're passionate about. We were able to watch him make a few pieces and he makes it look so easy. Today Studio West Glassblowing had a special Glass Float Drop In event posted to their Facebook…read morepage. All we had to do was show up, no appointment needed, and make your own glass float. We got there fairly early and there were already a number of people there with more arriving every few minutes. We signed in and chose the color scheme we wanted, then Ciara and Alejandro would prep the molten glass ingots on the tubes for blowing. We were given very good instructions and shown the proper methods to use while we were assisted with the project. Taking a glob of molten glass, applying colors, blowing, shaping, reheating... this is such a creative outlet, not to mention really cool to have a beautiful glass ornament that you created. After the float is made, Ciara will cut it from the blow tube and make a small molten glass stand for it. The float is positioned on the base and adheres as one piece. It is then moved over to a slow cooling kiln where it will slowly cool down overnight. Tomorrow I get to go pick up the finished creation and bring it home.

So my friend and I decided to give it a shot. The place is small and not fancy but the owner was friendly and helpful. I was glad I knew we wouldn't be able to pick Up our pieces until the next day as he didn't explain that well upfront. She tells you to lay your stuff on her chair in "her living room". Get cozy, and craft! My 7 year old daughter, loves to craft. She was in awe of Deb's display of all things craft supplies. She asked if she could have Deb's collection of craft supplies.I told her one day. She started right away, painting, coloring, and being in her element. Her 3 year old sister is right there following in her big sisters foot steps. We loved hearing about all the classes coming up and seeing them on the wall is fun too. My girls and I live in CA, my Mom has a house here in Florence so we come to visit a lot. This time around we looked for a house in Albany because we are moving. My daughters loved painting rocks, picture frames, star's, and other Americana decor. We decided to come back the next day to decorate cupcakes. Oh my goodness, Deb had the whole she-bang! Sprinkles galore, cool star sprinkles, different color icing, fondant, fun 4th of July picks to put in them. The girls had way to much fun. When we left my 3 year old Emmy says Mom lets come back, that was fun. I told her you are right, that was fun, we will definitely be back.
