Last week I got Dungeness Crab Benedict with truffle fries and caught some tennis in session. This week I got a tan by the big pure salt saline pool that's heated to 83 degrees year round and while lounging I sipped on Arnold Palmers (I'm taking a wee break from booze but their bar is great, too) and swallowed a tuna melt practically whole. There's a fitness center, a butt-load of tennis courts, an on-site bar & resto, huge jacuzzi, olympic size pool, and some incredible views as The Club is right on the Bay and looks over to Tiburon. My friend is a member and actually lives on this resort property (unreal) and I totally mooch off his guest spots to come get my swim on. I feel like every time I come I meet 1000 people and they all have really cool stories and backgrounds. Retired ER Dr, pizza place owner, French Chefs, lots of lawyers. lots of hot moms, lots of hot dads, some kids they brought with, and while there are a lot of seniors here, they're legit the fittest 60+ crowd I've ever seen. On Holidays they frequently have a live band and they'll grill burgers and dogs outside. It's really cool, very clean, and currently my happy place thanks to this sweet mini tan I was able to catch today.

I've had the pleasure of taking a few lessons with Macall over the past few years (and I'm a relatively decent player). Though it doesn't matter how good you are (or think you are), you can always learn or re-learn a few things. She really helped me with my volleys and footwork (and all the other tennis basics that you know but forget over time). I've also had the distinct pleasure of playing doubles with Macall in matches. And man oh man, you can't ask for a better doubles partner. She rips the snot out of the ball, and comes up with shots that are beyond belief. Although she's competitive, she always keeps things fun and light-hearted. After all, at the end of the day, it's just a game. Macall is especially great with young players. I see her teaching kids of all ages, and they all seem to adore her. As do the parents. If you're looking to learn tennis or just want to improve your game, give Macall a call. You'll be glad you did.

She is not only a wonderful, fun person, but very skilled in teaching practical skills and strategies of doubles tennis. I learned alot from her and still go back to many of the things that she taught me during our clinics....especially when I am at net and need to put the ball away. She definitely improved my doubles game. Her clinics were very fun and extremely educational. I would recommend her to anyone wanting to up their tennis game.

The Courts are beautifully maintained and the pros and members are truly hospitable and courteous. I have played on courts in SF and in Southern Marin and hate the cold weather and wind. San Rafael has the ideal location for great tennis! MTC is the best Club to play in Marin and the SF Bay Area!

The seasonal 'flex-pass' allows you to get 6 sessions over 7 weekends - so you can go away for a weekend and not lose $. Registration online is easy; kids don't need their own rackets at first; communication is good throughout (Bill Higgins or his asst will reply within a reasonable time to an email), and the instructors are all nice and good with kids this age (seem good throughout though I can't really comment). CCSF isn't the fanciest of courts but it's not a bad place to watch for an hour or go play yourself or go for a jog while the kiddos are in camp, too. Bottom line - our kids love the game already and want to keep learning - so it's worth the $.
