This year we stopped and have enjoyed new fingerling potatoes, amazing green beans (2 bushels that were so very nice ... not stringy and they still had their 'snap!' We canned 43 quarts & had several family comfort dinners!). The peaches were just perfect - perfectly ripe & unbruised. Looking forward to seeing the apples come soon! I almost forgot to mention how impressed I am with Amy! So helpful and she was willing to fulfill my special orders!

They've also got home made doughnut holes, caramel apples and cider slushies. In the store, they have candles, candies, jellies, and sauces. Dougherty is known for their petting zoo, too. Admission is $1 and you can purchase an ice cream cone full of feed. It's not exactly a "petting" zoo as most of the animals are caged and the ones that aren't can bite. It's small, the cages are very small and it'a mostly goats, chickens, turkeys, pigs, deer, guinea pigs, donkeys and a porcupine. If it bothers you to see animals in small enclosures, don't go. If you do go, keep your fingers out of the cages! Those suckers bite!

My husband and I took our little boy to Dougherty Orchards last weekend to the petting zoo. As I…read moresaid in my last review, it's a really nice setup, except for some reason they have tiny cages for animals who aren't exactly "pettable." They have two arctic foxes cooped up in a corn crib, and a coati (kind of like a raccoon) in a tiny, dark cage. The poor thing was just pacing like crazy. It made me so sad that it was hard to enjoy the rest of our trip. I just don't understand why they'd have these animals in such small enclosures - or even have them at all, since they're not exactly petting zoo material. Oh, and maybe it's too early in the season, but the apple situation was not looking so good (presumably due to the drought we had this summer). The yellow jackets did not get the memo, however.

This location features both a restaurant and bakery alongside the production facility. I've had the pleasure of touring the factory and hope to take my kiddos one day (very Mr.Rogers-esque experience). As for the bakery and restaurant, you'll find a menu filled with comfort food like pot pies, sandwiches and an expansive pie menu (of course). As you walk through the front doors, you're promptly greeted by the pie display to make certain you save room for dessert. Our family frequently visits the cooler portion to grab noodles, dumplings, pie seconds and more. Just about everyone we encounter receives a Wick's Pie with their Christmas gifts. Expect a cozy environment and welcoming staff. It's the cherry on top of the whole experience.

We bought sugar cream, coconut cream, and pumpkin chess (which I think is basically a sugar cream pie with pumpkin - mmmmmm!). Pie prices are super reasonable - anywhere fro $5-$9. We also bought a fresh banana cream pie that the checkout server had personally baked that morning! Love Wick's Pies and if you're within 45 mins, definitely come here to stock up.
