In March, I brought my truck to the shop to have the front brakes replaced. I specifically requested the best-quality brakes available for my vehicle because I expected the parts and labor to be reliable and long-lasting. I paid over $400 for the initial repair, trusting that the job would be done correctly.
Unfortunately, within just three months, the brakes began making noise. I returned to the shop and asked the mechanic to inspect them. I was told that the brakes were fine. Now, in October, I am being told that the front brakes need to be replaced again, only 7 months after the original installation.
How is it reasonable for a new set of brakes to need replacement after such a short period? More importantly, why were my concerns not properly addressed when I brought the vehicle back within the first three months?
When I returned for the second replacement, the mechanic stated that he would install "better-quality brakes." This was extremely frustrating because I had specifically requested the best-quality brakes the first time and paid over $400 for that service. If better-quality brakes were available, why weren't they installed from the beginning?
To make matters worse, I was charged over $180 in additional labor for the second installation. I understand that the shop has a three-month warranty policy, but the brakes began making noise during that warranty period. I brought the problem to the shop's attention, and I was told everything was fine. Now I am expected to pay additional labor costs to have the same repair performed again.
I believe the shop should have taken my concerns seriously when I first reported the problem instead of dismissing them. If the original parts were defective, the installation was faulty, or another issue was causing the noise, I expected the shop to investigate the problem thoroughly and explain what was happening. Instead, I am left paying for a second installation without a satisfactory explanation for why the first set of brakes failed so quickly.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have experienced a similar issue with this business. I previously had the brakes replaced on my Camry, and they began squeaking within the first couple of months. At that time, I could not locate my original receipt, and I accepted that I had limited options without proof of the service date. I learned from that experience and made sure to keep my receipt this time. Despite doing so, I still feel that my concerns have not been properly acknowledged or resolved.
As a paying customer, I expect quality parts, professional workmanship, honest communication, and a reasonable effort to resolve problems when a repair does not perform as expected. I do not believe it is fair to charge a customer for the same repair twice without adequately addressing why the original repair developed problems so quickly.
This experience has cost me additional money, time, and trust in a business I once considered reliable. I am extremely dissatisfied with how this situation has been handled, and I will not be returning to this shop or recommending its services to others.
I am asking the shop to take responsibility for this situation and reconsider the additional labor charges for the second brake installation but they refuses to take responsibility of the issue. I had to pay the $180 I was charge for labor. Customers should not be left feeling that they must pay repeatedly for a repair that did not meet reasonable expectations, especially when they reported the problem within the stated warranty period.
I hope management takes this complaint seriously and makes an effort to improve both the quality of its repairs and the way customer concerns are handled.
