We had a French drain system installed along with pavers and turf which they were able to customize to our design. They stuck to the timeline perfectly, worked efficiently, and the craftsmanship was absolutely stunning. In fact, they matched a rendering I had almost 100%. Jesus is such a nice guy, and his team is just as dedicated. Working with them was a pleasure, and I would highly recommend them to anyone else.

Being a first time homeowner is not easy. From landing the house and finding things to improve over…read moretime, my wife and I knew the backyard would be a very important space for our family, especially our younger kids. When we first moved in, the backyard was all cement, the grass was dead, it had mulch/tanbark everywhere, and the pavers were mismatched. While we had a temporary "fix" by removing the grass and installing turf, we knew we needed to go big. I went through countless hours of research, hesitation, and uncertainty for whatever reason, but I finally settled on a name that, after extensive research, felt like they would be the right fit for us. Enter Black Diamond! Stephanie Driscoll was our project manager and designer and Raul was the head of the crew that took on the job of totally revamping the entire backyard and the side yards. Stephanie was very easy to work with and loved the design that was initially proposed. Instead of trying to essentially price the job with higher quality materials or trying to add more where it wasn't needed, we were able to balance paver amount/variation for the pathways and borders so that it made sense both in design and budget. Needless to say, 4 months on, we are still very happy with how it turned out and how everything was done. We started the consultation/design process and contracting in December 2025 and broke ground in March 2026. Stephanie was patient in waiting for other projects to be completed since I also had to replace a roof, install new gutters, and repaint the whole house. By April 2026, the entire backyard looked as designed and blew my family away! Our friend and family complimented on how well everything was done and what a transformation it was. We actually enjoy the backyard a lot more now and so do our children. The pavers have held up very well thus far and most of all, it's safe for anyone to walk on. No sharp edges on the step-down that was installed, no tripping hazards, and no danger of water sitting and pooling in any one area. The rocks along the pathways complement the pavers and do well to keep costs low in the side yard as no one really hangs out on the sides anyway. Extremely happy with Black Diamond, Stephanie, and Raul! Thank you so much; looking forward to getting the front yard and driveway tackled soon!

I live in Monterey and discovered Black Diamond because I really liked what they did with one of my…read moreneighbor's front area.  It pays to leave your sign out! Frances was my project manager and on the first visit I described my vision and let her know I wanted to do some of the work myself because I had a limited budget.  She was very accommodating about that and drew up plans based on what I wanted help with.  She actually did a few iterations as we talked through design and my changes after I saw the plans.  She helped with design and material suggestions but also drainage suggestions that helped me feel confident I wouldn't have problems down the line.  Black Diamond did all the hardscape of pavers and prepped and installed my lawn.  I did everything else in the pictures. I purchased all the plants, but Frances was helpful in giving me ideas about what grew best in my area which doesn't get a lot of sun.  They are a bit pricey but I was willing to pay more because they gave me the confidence that they would do the work correctly.  And Frances was amazing to work with! It came out beautiful!  Their workers were not very friendly and didn't speak much English but they knew their business and Frances visited often to oversee the work.   There were lots of little decisions to be made and Frances was patient with me as I took time to decide on some things.  They also put in piping so I could run more irrigation, if needed and electrical wiring.  They also ran pipe for my propane tank hose so it would be underground.  My only frustration is that they didn't put string through or something that would help pull the wiring or hose through more easily.  A simple thing that would have really helped.  Overall, I am very satisfied and would recommend them.  They are pricey and their contract is pretty one-sided, but because everything went well, that wasn't a problem. Apologies for the pictures in random order.  Just a side note--I also used Black Diamond for my rental in Southern California and the project manager did a great job there too.

My pour was 1670 square feet with 33 cubic yards 1697 that had a fair amount of complexity in terms of drainage and curbs and levels. The set up took 3 days including grading, forming and rebar with a crew of eight. I also added my neighbors smaller driveway that enlarged the project by 450 sq ft and took our pour up to 42 cu yds. On the pour day we had 14 finishers who did a quality job, and on the following day they returned to finish removing forms and did an excellent cleaning up removing all construction debris. This is a top quality second generation family company. I found the entire team to be easy to deal with, friendly, very professional and conscientious in their work. I now have them on my list of those i will choose to deal with in future. This is a top quality company that keeps its promises and works well with the customer. A+ in my book. They said they were licensed but they don't know the construction codes. The husband did all the work, but he does not speak English. The wife did all the communications, yet, she only came sometimes at the end of the day. They did the face for the fireplace 2 times and couldn't get it right. Eventually they had to have a subcontractor to the 3rd time. They did the backsplash 2 times, and the range exhaust 2 times, and still didn't finish them by code. They hanged up the blinds without putting up the blinds' pushup handles. They hanged up a chandelier with a poor quality hook. The hook failed and the chandelier dropped and smashed into pieces, and they refused to compensate for it... Anyway, they don't have much experience and knowledge in construction because even these little things they cannot do them right. So, away from them. They are not trustworthy!!
