I came up from Toledo Ohio was very excited because I am 70 and wanted to canoe vs Kayaking…read more Anyways got all the way up there almost 1 hour from Toledo which probably cost me 10.00 in gas one way. It's at a state park, not sure if that was even mentioned. But I did call numerous times no one ever told me it would cost me 10.00 to park on top of the 35 45 bucks to canoe for two elderly adventurous people, just glad to be getting out to do something active for a change on a limited income. We both have bad knees, can't run handicap sticker in our car that is 20 years old (kind of lucky to have even made it)! I told the lady sitting at the park I can't afford 10 dollars she said well the web site says it cost to park, I said I did not see it any where on the web site. Talk about a ridiculous cost to park while you canoe. I said for even handicap senior citizens she said yes. I said Well I am not paying that, I can't afford that, we will figure out what else we can do. So I looked around for some place to park where we could walk into the park without paying couldn't find anywhere. So, we went to the one that is in ann arbor FREE PARKING. Ridiculous it would seem like something else could be figured out with this expensive cost. SENIOR CITIZENS: Do Not Go to Skips unless you want to pay another 10.00 on top of the cost of canoeing on a fixed income to let your car sit at a park for 3 or 4 hours. Totally Ridiculous! Vickie

My husband and I just went through the worst nightmare of our adult life. We hired Warren Hurst to…read morecome and rebuild our dock. At first he was very nice. We signed the agreement on April 2016 and gave him over a $1000.00 as deposit. The complete project was over $40,000.00 He said it would take two to three months to get the appropriate permits from the various government agencies. He went in back and took all the measurement and pictures of the dock. In June I ran in to him at a local bank and asked him where we stood with the permits. He acted like he didn't know me but said that he would check. He never called us. In July I called the office and his wife answered. She kept asking my name and address and said she would look in to it. A few days latter we saw Warren in back taking measurement and pictures again. He said that it was held up with the EPA because of the ####### slander word for black woman. I told him that I did not appreciate his language and that I believed that he never turned the paper work in to begin with. He laughed about it and told my husband that I was sensitive but that it was true what he said about the race. I continued to call the office and to make a long story short they did not start the project until December of 2016. Bridget, Warren's daughter was in charge of the crew. They brought a crane in and started to demolish. In the process they managed to destroy my neighbor's fence. Ungrounded a 220 volt wire that was bringing electricity to the dock. Left the line live with no cap. They destroyed 10 of my bushes along our drive way by running them over with their trucks. Left oil stains in our drive and when asked to stop parking in the drive way Warren told me to "F U" to make matter worst they didn't attach the pulleys properly so two weekend ago we woke up to our boat tipped over. Had we been on the boat it could have sliced someone in half. The snapping of the pulley caused for the top and side covers to rip as well as damage to the side fiber glass of the boat.. Bridget and her crew came out and right away accused the pulley company when it was her that installed it and forgot to bolt it and weld it properly. My husband asked her to pay for the damages to this she refused. Please ask past clients when using this company

In regard to waterfowling, people often dump on this place because:…read more 1) The open marsh areas can get super crowded--not a great thing for a sport involving shotguns. Get out there early if you want a good spot, but don't be surprised if someone motors in ten minutes before shooting time and sets up 50 yards from you. 2) You will run into slob hunters: people who skybust, crowd your zone in the managed areas, try to bully you out of your spot, call constantly (and badly) thus driving off ducks working your spread, shoot grebes, seagulls, and swans, and dump trash in parking lots. 3) A lot of time the hunting can be poor. 4) There are only about four zones in the managed area that are usually productive. 5) Thefts from cars aren't unusual at the boat launches, and when you get to one in the wee hours of the morning, you can run into some sketchy characters. But you have to take the bad with the good. There is probably not a better public waterfowling area near Detroit. It's accessible for walk-in hunters as well as those with boats. There's some great habitat and the staff there works hard maintaining and improving it. Hit this place during a migration and the hunting can be fantastic. And while the slobs are always out, you'll meet some great people there too: very skilled hunters, guys who will help you get your boat in and out, even some who invite you to join their party. More often than not other hunters are sportsmanlike and friendly, despite those sometimes sour a hunt there. If Pte. Mouillee were farther from a major population center it likely wouldn't have many of the problems it does. But waterfowlers in Detroit wouldn't enjoy nearly the opportunities they have thanks to it.

On weekends, it's hard to find a place to even fish, because it's so crowded. There's always a flow of boats coming and going from the docks. I like that you can pull up right to the water and fish, so it's convenient to listen to the radio in your car and not lug supplies all around. I've been here many times with a cooler full of beer and haven't had a problem with that. The waters can be somewhat clogged with grass, but there are some good fish in there.

As a relatively new boat owner, I was quickly learning how much really goes into properly caring…read morefor your boat. At times, I needed the help of a professional marine mechanic and subsequently, I was referred to ANCHOR MARINE. This place has yet to let me down. What do I like? Well, I like that when something happens to my boat and I need it fixed, I can simple put it on the trailer and drop it at the shop. If it's after hours, I toss my keys through the slot in the office door. I then call them and leave a message about why I brought the boat in, my phone number and name. I get a call first thing the next morning. Most times, my boat is ready for pickup by the end of the day. Crazy fast service! Also, I like the people: The mechanic is a very straight forward person who is all about fixing things the right way. If he can save you money, he will, but no short cuts. It's always done right, the first time. I've never been back twice for the same repair. This place also does my routine, preventative maintenance annually, too. The gal who runs the front office is very friendly with a great personality. She typically is the one who calls to let you know what the mechanic finds, what the estimate will be, and ultimately when your boat is ready for pickup. She's also not afraid to get her hands dirty and works with the mechanic to button up your boat once he has made the repairs. Then, there is Phil, the owner. I'm pretty sure he's owned this shop a long time. I try to make it a point when I'm picking up or dropping off the boat, to go inside and chat with him for a few minutes. He listens to my stories and usually has one of his own to share. Don't let the serious demeanor fool you. He has a great sense of humor and I like to make him laugh at least once before I head out the door. Honest, fair priced, excellent workmanship and good conversation is what I have experienced at Anchor Marine. I am a customer for life... or until I sell the boat! LOL.

Firstly, this is a place for docking boats & putting boats up for the winter. I have no experience…read morewith this. It's located directly on the Detroit river. They have a restaurant with gorgeous views of the water. I do believe this place is members only. The food is decent, there are vegetarian options, though not many. They do have fish & chips which is crave-worthy. The coolest thing is summer of 2023 they finished putting in a brand new in ground pool. It is so nice! You can order food from the restaurant and have it brought out to you at the pool. Members can invite friends & family to the pool, who can get in under the members name & member number, if the member is there. The pool has a bit of a landing, so when you step in, it's like a small, shallow splash pad for littles or people who want to sit. There's a bar at the pool, so you can have poolside drinks, and ice cream! The pool in the summer has been 5 stars for us so far. I would rate the food & service at the restaurant with 4 stars. Shout out to server Ronnie who has worked there for several years and takes great care. One additional thing is they often host kids parties for holidays (Christmas they have Santa lunches, Easter, Halloween). These are expensive for members to sign up for, but they put on a very nice buffet style lunch for families and have crafts, gifts, egg hunts, etc for the kids. They also host bands, comedians, and other entertainers. These events also get 5 stars. However please note that the average person cannot afford a membership at this place. If you're lucky enough to have a family member or friend have a membership here I would definitely recommend utilizing it. Be sure to check out the pool!
