Having experienced living in BF for a couple of years, what I really love about this village is…read morethat it has a little bit of everything from outside its own bubble that it leaves you with very little excuse to venture out into the world (except for, you know, going to work/school). Even if it's a bit of arts and culture you're craving, BF's got you covered, too. Artists Haven Gallery and Cafe is along Aguirre Avenue, the subdivisions' main road known also as a foodie destination in itself. From the outside it does seem really small, like what might be just another gallery.. perhaps a room and some paintings. Little did I know that it's truly like a "haven" for artists--spacious and beautifully designed interiors, a well-curated collection of paintings and sculptures, and they have a cafe too! It's a place that anyone would really be inspired to create in, or if you'd simply want to forget that you're in BF for a while, this is the place to go to "rejuvenate" your soul... or something. They also offer art workshops for kids and adults, too! If you're not much into the arts, don't walk away, they have a charming cafe for you. The dishes are named after painters! Though for vegetarians/vegans, there are only a few veggie options: just soups and salads, for which you'd have to still request to remove ingredients X, Y and Z from, just ask). I tried one of their best sellers, Crispy Suman con Tsokolate (you can request for dairy to be omitted), which is a good choice for a light merienda. I was able to chat with the owner of a place, and news is that they're coming up with regular events that involve live music and wine!

The Bamboo Organ, as the name suggests, is an organ with most of the pipes made of bamboo. Built during the late 1800s, and repaired, restored, and maintained through the years, the organ is really something else to behold and to listen to. While the church and the museum is open daily, the best time to check out the Bamboo Organ would be around February, during the annual Bamboo Organ Festival, where renowned musicians from all over the country and the world fly in to take part in a truly special event. The Las Piñas Bamboo Organ Church anchors Las Piñas historical corridor, a small stretch of road filled with turn-of-the-century houses, buildings, and a plaza. It's nice to check it out after seeing the Bamboo Organ.

I remember having it discussed in school because of it's history and I'd always be proud to say that I've seen it and have heard the bamboo organ play. It's a relatively old church, with the façade looking like other churches built in the era when the Spanish colonized the Philippines. The floor is of clay tiles, has brown wooden pews, and is relatively dark inside. That is until the lights on the chandeliers and the lights at the altar are turned on. It's just such a beautiful altar! Pair that with the surreal, ethereal music coming from the bamboo organ and you are taken to a dreamlike, heavenly state.

Yexel's Toy Museum - One of the great museums in Las Piñas!

Located inside a subdivision, the museum is quite confusing to find, but don't hesitate to ask a tricyle driver (yes, whenever I am in a small street and needs directions, I always ask a tricycle driver. They never failed me!) and they gave the directions already. Parking is not readily available so, be corteous enough to fellow motorists to park your car properly. Also, ask the house owner if you could park in front of their house. Proper decorum is a must, dear friends. Upon entering the house turned into a toy museum, you'd be envied on how the owner of the toy museum actually took care of their toys. Of course not everything in the toy museum was really the toys they played, but you would feel that sense of "I should have cared for my toys" guilt feel. Roaming around the building, you'd be amazed by the sheer number of toys the museum houses. The best part for me was seeing Optimus Prime and the overall drama of the place is that you feel you are in hanger of Optimus Prime. Yexel Toy Museum is still undergoing expansion but if you cant wait to see Baymax, Ranma 1/2, Batman, and other cartoon characters, then head to this place. It surely will make your weekend or weekday trip memorable.
