Arranging the excursion, communicating by phone and text, the parking, all of that was a breeze. The boat is clean and huge! We had 7 guys and there was enough room for twice that. Captain Marcus knew where to go and we caught our limits. Everything was just pleasant and easy. Plenty of space to lay out your food and beer in the cooler. At the end of the trip, we had nicely filleted rockfish free of bones and skin. We'll be coming back for sure!

Marcus Wilson has been on the water half his life and his captaining of or charter highlighted this fact. We set out with a plan to fish more towards the Eastern shore but after a slow start we adjusted and under the captains direction we were put on fish, stripers, Maryland Rockfish, 25inch Maryland Rockfish, lots of 25 inch Maryland Rockfish! In the world of charter boat fishing things couldn't get any better. My gang of five fished hard, we had ample times on the fishing rods and we all caught our law allotted quota and we finished by noon. Perfect! All that was left to do was to take pictures, sip a cold one and sit back on the cruise home as first mate Jason cleaned, gutted and filleted our bounty. I will say that I'm a little disappointed that I may not use my long time charters at Kent Island much again but with the level of service, great knowledge of the water and all around wonderful experience I had fishing with Hot Lick I haven't got a choice.

Had a great time fishing with Captain Tom Hughes on Saturday! He really helped me figure out my…read morefish finder and gave me more confidence in my equipment. I even discovered a couple nice features that I didn't know I had. I was tired of roaming the bay, burning gas, and not catching any fish. We used my boat and he brought a couple rods and I had a few on the boat. After we messed with the settings on my electronics, we were off to the races! He put us on some fish and I reeled in a keeper rockfish on my first cast with his rod and jig. I switched over to my rods, after he corrected my lure choice, and the fun kept going. While I fished, Tom kept score, unhooked the fish, and took pictures of my screen that he will annotate and send to me later. (And, his wife made us lunch!) We tried a few different spots and the final score was 7 keepers and 4 shorts. I brought two keepers home for dinner and we released the rest, all in good shape. As many people know, fishing can be really frustrating. It was worth every penny to figure out what I was doing wrong, and what I was doing right. We kept up a nice conversation throughout the day too. Tom has a couple years on me, but I got tired before he did. What a great day!

Honestly, his behavior and demeanor are likely great examples of what terrible experiences and (lack of) service we would have probably received had we decided to utilize Paul's business and services during our visit.

Dolphins, osprey with fish in their talons, lighthouses, a drawbridge, and a chill approach to life. He navigated us Tilghman island... let us rest, eat and swim... then returned us safely to our lives in DC. The 38 ft sloop is awesome, well cared for and handled great in some chop. The good lord blessed us with a picture perfect day, calm winds, blue sky's, and due to the skills on the boat a full cooler. The boat is BIG, hence "THE BIG WORM" lol. Spacious cabin, comfortable seating inside and out. If your fishing with a small or very large party, Drew will accommodate. Unfortunately we did not take advantage of the lunch (bbq) that is available as an up charge for the party. Make sure you inquire about food options!!!! In short, Captain Drew was disorganized, lacked communication skills and was very rude. We booked this trip a year in advance and was quoted a price of $1200 for 6 people, and $200 any additional persons. Prior to the fishing trip, I texted the captain several questions to prepare for this trip, he either failed to respond or his response was delayed and lacked clarity. The lack of communication continued before and during the fishing trip. The captain texted me the day before the fishing trip at approximately 7:30 am and told us not to come down to Virginia Beach until we received confirmation from him that evening to ensure the weather was suitable for fishing. I had been checking the weather forecast for several days and it was supposed to be in the 70s, sunny and moderate winds and I conveyed that via text to the captain. What he attempted to do, but failed, is tried to get rid of our group so that he could make more money with another group of 16 versus 7 because the weather the next day was forecasted to be very windy. And the group of 16 was booked to go the day after our trip. When he realized we would not wait until we received confirmation since we were already in route, the captain raised the price to $1800 when he had already quoted us $1200 for the first 6 and $200 for any additional. I'm sure he raised the price to get us to cancel, which we did not do--sorry Captain More importantly, because he had to cancel a bigger group and stick with us, he failed to give us a safety briefing before departure. An epic fail as a Captain. At this point, he could care less about our safety. Money was priority for him. When we returned from the fishing trip, he continued to request more money, only this time, it was for two mates. Everything should have been all worked out before we ever pulled off of the dock. Bottom line, this man lacks integrity, he was rude, and was a male chauvinist. I would not recommend this company for a fishing trip.

The boat was immaculately clean and all the gear was top notch. We ended up hitting our limit rather quickly and hit some BIG rockfish on the trip as well. Once we got back they cleaned and filleted the fish for us to bring home. We will definitely be booking with these guys again, and if schedules allow I think we may try for the spring season as well.

All we have to do to get our boat in the water is choose the time we're coming through the app and it's out on the dock. They made it so easy. Bert Jabin's Yacht Yard is organized and clean. The bathhouse near the docks is spotless and has great amenities. They offer laundry facilities, showers, and toilets. Their bathrooms are the cleanest bathrooms I've ever been to. Every time I go, someone is either cleaning them, or has just cleaned them. The only small complaint my father had was he wished they were opened just a little later. The views along the pier are stunning. All the sailboats are so picturesque. It's always a great feeling to walk onto a boat from Bert Jabin's.

Everyone helps out. Once you get certified as a captain, you can take the boat out. Otherwise, you can crew. Some captains will take the boats out for multiple days. Yes, the boats have beds, galley, head, etc. it's an awesome way to share the responsibilities of owning a boat.

I was thinking of buying a sailboat to cruise the Chesapeake then found out about this club that…read moreowns two well maintained 34 foot cruisers and a 30 foot racer cruiser. The cost are much less than owning my own boat. The boats are mostly available a week or two in advance on weekends and almost always on weekdays. Even better, the members are all very friendly and good sailing companions when I am not otherwise sailing with my own guests. The club does much of its own maintenance which adds another valuable dimension to the sailing experience.
