One of the finest liveaboard-friendly marinas anywhere!…read more Small and well kept, this marina offers floating docks, several clean, private showers and bathrooms, coin laundry and free ice. Slips are very reasonably priced and the marina houses an even mix of sail and power boats. The only down side to the marina is its close proximity to other marinas, causing tricky ingress and egress for some of the slips. Liveaboard fees include use of the all the facilities, overnight and weekend parking and water hookup. Electric is metered at a reasonable rate. Pumpouts are handled by the Annapolis Dock Master. Close to all that Eastport has to offer, including Boatyard Bar and Grill, Carrol's Creek, Rockfish, Chart House, Lewnes Steak House, Ruth's Chris, etc.

I continue to bring my boat there for my annual haul out and maintenance, as well as the unexpected growth work that sometimes a 20 year old boat requires. George and his team efficiently take care of every problem, troubleshoot, like true engineers, and charge a fair price for great work. I cannot recommend this marina more highly for their maintenance and repair work. Please note, the approach can be a little shallow, so if your boat draws 5 feet or more like mine, then you will need to arrive and depart at high tide.

I went searching for marina's on the south river last year towards the end of the season. I was…read morevery turned off by the extremes I found. Either they were huge, expensive-"corporate"-feeling marinas which had good amenities etc, or they were dumpy boat yards full of old, neglected boats. Then I came upon Oak Grove. It's in a perfect location for boating the South River. I was greeted by the owner when I went to inquire about pricing. He was very laid back and friendly and quoted very reasonable rates for the various options. Boatel, Wet Slips and lift Slips. The marina has been family owned for a long time and it shows. The owner and staff have been extremely patient with my questions. What was important to me in a Marina? A great location easy to get to on/off route 50, plenty of stores, restaurants in the area, friendly, chill staff, and a mechanic on site. They had all that. Edgewater is a great small town next door to Annapolis with everything you could need. You can be at several great little restaurants/tiki bars on the water in minutes. When I upgraded my boat this season, the marina sold me on a lift slip at a reasonable rate. I told them when the new boat would be arriving and they had the slip ready to go and adjusted as promised. When selling my old boat, they even agreed to allow me to keep it in a wet slip temporarily for sea trials. This was generous and much appreciated. I sold the old boat quickly thanks to the marina's flexibility. The marina has been gradually updating some of it's piers and keeps everything well maintained. Oak Grove is situated facing the river at sunset which blows me away on a regular basis. It has clean bathrooms, ice for purchase on site, and a fuel dock and pump-out with decent prices. Everything needed for boating. It doesn't have a swimming pool, spa, etc. If I want a load of amenities, I'll go to a resort. I go here so I can get the boat in the water fast and without hassle. It's nice knowing I can deal with any issues immediately thanks to the responsive, easy-going staff.

Reviewing South Annapolis Yacht Centre (SAYC) is a challenge…read more Here is the short version of the history. The current owners purchased two adjacent marinas that were somewhere between run-down and sketchy. They've done a really outstanding clean up job and repaired a lot of things. They have an excellent development plan that respects the environment and the neighborhood although some reservations have been expressed. Downsides: you have to pass under the Spa Creek bridge so if your air draft is over 15 feet you have to wait for the drawbridge to open. Some infrastructure (parking, walkways) is still a little rough. Upsides: great management, good service, a true investment in the community, responsive staff, and a location that is really hard to beat when visiting Annapolis, good prices. You can walk to a range of good eateries: quite close are Vin 909, Eastport Kitchen, and Sammie's Italian Kitchen. Further but doable are Boatyard Bar and Grill, Carroll's Creek, Davis' Pub, and all of downtown historic Annapolis. Most maritime services in Annapolis (which is pretty much everything you might need) will come to SAYC. Giant Food grocery is within striking distance for general provisioning and for those special contributions for a docktail invitation Tastings Gourmet Market is in reach. Mills Fine Wine & Spirits is not far; a little beyond their delivery radius but if you are real nice.... I prefer Eastport Liquors. South Annapolis Yacht Centre is truly a contribution to the maritime community in Annapolis, America's Sailing Capitol.

Chartered a catamaran for a week in Nov 2024 from Sailaway Key West. Booked in March…read more Unprofessional outfit: boat we chartered was not available, but an on paper good alternative was offered. Then the price of the crew was increased. Excuse was that the person who we booked with in March was no longer with the company. Lot of work to redo all the work we had done in March to find the charter we wanted - anyone who has tried to book one knows it's much smoke and mirrors, the same boats are rented out by different outfitters, everything is a little different between each and it's hard to get a full picture of total cost, and to compare apples to apples and not something else. Document every conversation and detail of what you agreed upon with Sailaway (or any other company) or they'll change the game. Arrived in Key was as agreed upon. Boat reeked of sewage. Captain had been on the boat for ten minutes several days before our charter, that's it. Said it reeked then too, but didn't do anything about it. Captain had almost no contact with Sailaway, it was the first time they worked with them. Captain ended up calling marina engineer and it turned out that half of the boat had not been pumped out. Additionally, the captain's cabin bathroom was broken, and the toilet didn't flush. You can imagine. It all got fixed but it was a stinky hassle and we started our charter several hours late. Sailaway overcharged us in their electronic system and ghosted us upon repeated request to resolve. Jennifer, owner of the company, acted unprofessionally and winged it to provide a charter boat and an ok but inexperienced crew she had never met, nor taken the time to get to know. It came out all right by helping out on the fly, but Sailaway was disappointing and there was no communication with, nor support for the crew from them either. The situation would have been salvageable if Jennifer had responded to our emails and calls to resolve the issue and accept feedback as we asked her to do. But she didn't, which leaves us with a bad feeling about her and her company.
