Beware! License in the state of Florida but not Miami Dade! Trying to get someone to call you back is like pulling teeth. The only reason i got a call back is because I told them I was reporting them to the city and the state. Got the shutters in about 2 weeks but work wasn't done with permit! When talked to the owner he told me he was coming to take the shutters down because I was going to report them. Just be careful!! Update: the owner sent me any email saying he was sorry for the awful service. The company keeps calling me asking if they could put a sign in my yard and if they could do work on my house. Go elsewhere! Salesperson did his job flawlessly, and hooked us in. Then the drama started. 1) The 2 people that came to measure the windows of our two story home didn't bring a ladder - and had the nerve to ask us for one. Because we didn't have one, they had to tromp throughout our house, trying to measure the installation dimensions from the inside. 2) The installer, while courteous, had no respect or care for the trash and debris left behind. To this day (2 years later), I still find screws and washers in the flower beds. It is even noticeable where the shoddy measuring fell short of the correct installation placement. 3) The salesperson clearly let us know that they would provide an estimate for our old panel shutters - for when we donate them to a charitable organization for tax purposes. Never happened. When we spoke with the owner he simply said they don't offer that. 4) When paying, we wrote a check and made it clear that it should not be cashed until the end of the week. The next day, I received a call from my bank saying that I had over drafted due to the said check being deposited. No one from Stormwise called to inform me of their mistake. After confronting them, the accounting woman acknowledged she had done it, but offered no apology. However, they did deduct the $35 overdraft fee from the remaining balance (thus the 1 star rating) 5) Never ending phone calls. It seems as if the lists they use for potential customers and current/past customers are one in the same. For about a year, I would receive 2-3 calls a week from Stormwise responding to my "request for information". Each time I explained that I was a past customer (unfortunately), and to remove me from the list. Nonetheless, it was temporary, and the calls continued. The product is fine - customer service, installation, and management are terrible at best. If you're someone that needs drama to survive, they're your best bet. Again, I must stress that I was so frustrated after 1 1/2 years of trying to get service for the latch under warranty, that I actually paid another vendor to fix it. A door latch is a piece of security hardware. You and your company had no regard at the vulnerability that this left my house and family. After all this time you offer an apology. Ok lets start by telling everybody wanting to do bussiness with company, Dont stop and cancel everything and get your money back. The ordeal started from the beginning the subcontracter that installs the windows is a total mess and a lier. It took them over 3 months to install the windows and close the permit. I could write a book of everything we went thru with this people please stay away from them even the owner is a lier and unproffessional. The only way the job got finished was by me putting in a dispute with AMEX and then the job got finished within a week. Signed the contract in October. Did not complete the installation until December 23rd. Failed the inspection, and amazingly enough the city employees have been more helpful than Stormwise staff. Still waiting at the end of January for them to correct all the mistakes made in the installation. Beware - Do not expect a call back, especially if there are questions from the inspector regarding installation. Unfortunately we did not read all the negative comments before we hired them. I received a phone call from Camilo Diaz the Contractor in charge of STORMWISE. He promised to install my four shutters within a week (ie by 4/6/15). The fact that he called me personally gives me GREAT CONFIDENCE that his company will perform.Note, if I had seen the reviews of his company, I most definitely would have been scared off doing business with STORMWISE. Stay far away from StormWise if you care about making improvements to your home. Here is my story: 1. After we signed a contract, made a deposit and set appointments, installers did not show up on several occasions, causing me to miss work. When I called their office to ask about the no shows, the excuses came with insincere apologies. One time, I called to find out the workers location during a no show, and no one in the office spoke English! I had to get someone on my end to translate. 2. The installation initially failed city inspection. 3. The $23,200 installation caused destruction to parts of my home; holes were in walls and window sills. They also broke pieces of tile floor and refused to repair it all for MONTHS, even though the sales guy said any damage caused by the installation would be repaired. We told them we would withhold final payment until they fix the destruction they caused, but they took the $5,800 final payment off our credit card without our permission. They had the card information because we authorized a PREVIOUS payment to them, and they still took the money knowing we were unhappy and did not want them fully paid until they fixed the destruction. When we figured out they took the payment without our authorization and spoke with them, they STILL refused to fix it, saying they didn't have to. Their attitude was extremely nasty about it, acknowledging they destroyed part of the house and saying we should fix it ourselves. Finally, my husband intervened saying he was going to report them for their shady behavior, and they fixed the damage the following day. 4. StormWise didn't immediately put doorknobs on impact doors, making my house a security hazard overnight (doors were taped shut). 5. Installers did not speak English and were unable to communicate. 6. One window didn't fit due to a measuring error, delaying even more. 7. They also "forgot" about a hurricane shutter. Another delay. 8. StormWise initially didn't bring impact doors that were in the contract, insisting we had to pay extra for them. We had to refer them to the contract totaling $20,000+, which clearly stated the installation included several doors. 9. There was little regard for our property or clean up. Dust everywhere. 10. An impact door broke within weeks of installation. I called them for MONTHS and nothing...so I gave up. Then, the owner, Camilo Diaz called me *years later* after I wrote a review on another website, claiming he never got my messages. I didn't want them coming but my husband was optimistic, so they came. Someone actually showed up on time (a first for their installers in our experience) and fixed it. That same door broke again with the same problem weeks later, but I decided to just be done with StormWise to avoid any contact. Then, out of nowhere, the harassing phone calls from Camilo Diaz started -- harassing me over the phone during my pregnancy. He insisted that I delete my review because they made it right. Mind you, he only tried to fix the door days after I posted a review, years after he refused to return my calls for many months...which does not represent genuine customer service. I explained to him that just because he attempted to fix the door years later after I made countless attempts to contact him, it doesn't erase that their work on our home failed a city inspection. It doesn't change that their workers no showed several times and refused to communicate with us, saying they didn't speak English. It doesn't change that they caused damage to our house and refused to fix it, it does not erase that they dodged phone calls to fix a broken door under warranty, in addition to all the other problems they caused, including the harassing and obnoxious phone calls from the owner himself during my pregnancy, the ill-fitting window, forgotten hurricane shutter and missing doors. Either way, StormWise tried to bully me into deleting factual reviews with empty threats of baseless lawsuits, which shows the true character of the company's owner. His accusations of slander mean nothing when my statements are true. Considering I never heard from his attorney (if he even has one), he obviously learned that he can't do anything to me in court because my review was and still is THE TRUTH! People need to know how this man does business: the work on my home failed inspection, the workers destroyed parts of my property and getting them to fix it was worse than pulling teeth; installers refused to speak English, the office did not phone calls, they brought a window that didn't fit, missed parts of the installation saying they "forgot", insisted on more payment for something that was in a current contract, and make an unauthorized charge to my credit card after I clearly stated I would pay the moment they fixed destruction they caused to my house. The only positive with Stormwise but subsequently a source of all the issues was the sales representation. The attentive service at the front end led us to sign up. I did ask for and talked with three references. All were generally positive (keep in mind these were three references provided by the rep) but all mentioned the rep and having to have him run interference with numerous problems. This should have been a red flag. Everything downstream from the order was negative. You couldn't get a straight answer from the office. Office personnel changed frequently (no surprise) and this was leaned on as an excuse for poor service. The install work (shutters and impact glass) was shoddy. The fit and finish on the windows was poor. The installation on the shutters did not pass inspection and had to be redone. I had another (more expensive) quote from another firm and in hindsight, should have taken it. read more

Absolute nightmare to deal with - nice sales pitch of course - all lies - waited 3 months to get permit to start - even though every time we called we were told it had been applied for. Finally, called city ourselves who confirmed it was not applied for until after we began calling them (stormwise) everyday!!! When windows finally came in, the installers (which not a one spoke a word of English) did such a bad job it only took the city 1 minute to fail the job!! all but one window had to come back out and be re-installed - which was another 4-6 weeks of calling and calling to get it done right. Owner talks a good game when you can get him to call you back, but has no control over his operations. Run!!! Run as fast as you can. It took us 6 months to get what should have been a one - two month process done -HUNDREDS of phone calls and emails, countless hours out of our day - find someone else!!! My advice - call the city you live in to ask who pulls the most permits and their failure rate before deciding on a company - it will save you a lot of time and they will tell you who is responsible and who is not! I signed a contract with Stormwise Hurricane Shutters 8 months ago and am still waiting for my windows and doors to be installed. They were quick to take my deposit and slow for everything else. Every time I call, there seems to be a different excuse and the CEO, Camilo Diaz, is too busy to speak to me. When I do get him on the phone, he brushes me off. There has been a total lack of follow up or ownership on their part for my job. In January they received my order (After 4 months) and when they came to do the installation, it was wrong. The windows were bronze, not white and my single French door was hinged on the wrong side. We learned this after they installed the door. They had to remove it and put my old door back up. The old door was not put back correctly and for 4 months, I've had moisture and A/C escaping through there. I informed Camilo of the issue but nothing has been done to correct it, stating my order should be in any day now. In the end, they installed the 2 double doors and told me that in a few weeks I should have the rest. (ITS BEEN 4 MONTHS)!!! I forgot to mention how the permit is about to expire and the doors that were already installed haven't been inspected. Once the windows and missing door were received they scheduled installation. The installers arrived and I made special arrangements to have someone at home since I couldn't miss work. Soon after the installers started, they called that the measurements were wrong and they had to cut some of the walls to make the holes bigger and some of the windows came too small. They assured me that this is normal and the installation will be just fine, they just have to widen the opening 2 inches or add wood to make the opening smaller. (Stormwise had 3 people come out and measure, including CEO Camilo Diaz.). I told them to go ahead since they assured me it would look great. They installed 1 window and 1 door and both were done poorly. The door doesn't close and all the wood around the opening is exposed on both openings. It rained all afternoon and now wood that should not be exposed to weather was soaked for several hours (I have a wood frame house). Despite my having reported this to them when I got home the same afternoon, I was assured that someone would come out and finish the openings and fix the door so I could close it and keep my family safe (Since the door will not close!). I would have expected that after all the problems I've experienced with my house they would have made this a priority, but I was wrong. By the way, I noticed today that the door is leaking, there is water dripping from the bottom of the actual door!!! Not a single call from the CEO either who has been too busy to address my concerns over the entire 8 month period. Dealing with Stormwise Hurricane Shutters and Camilo Diaz has been the worst experience of my life and I would not recommend them to anyone. These delays have left my house in an eternal state of construction and I am unable to move forward with other projects until this is done. Let's not mention the pressure I'm receiving from my association to have my deteriorated windows repaired. I will continue to update this posting until my windows are done so everyone will know how this turns out and will be posting this on every site I can find, including Angie's list and a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. i purchased accordian shutters from these people 4 years ago. Thank god i have not needed them because they are coming apart at the seam. I have sent pictures and emails and numerous calls to the company to come and fix their construction issues to no avail. They will not respond. I have contacted other shutter companies who advised me the shutters are junk and cannot be fixed. This is typical of south florida....shotty work ....take the money an run.
