Big promises, no show. This property is so neglected and rundown. It is quite sad. The hunting opportunity for wild hogs is virtually negligible. Blinds are a downgrade from an Andy Gump Porta potty. Folding Chairs, noisy, and uncomfortable for any period of time beyond 45 minutes. If one was able to harvest an animal, there are no walk-in coolers. They didn't even have a working ice machine. Seven hunters spent 113 hours on property over one weekend and never saw a single hog. Keep your money and stay away from this sorry run down property. read more

Hey, I'm Christian. There is a lot of crying over things people have no control of. People are crying there was no Hogs, if there is no hogs, that's a good thing! The point of hog hunting, is to get rid of hogs. You pay to be on a Million dollar property and not to be bothered. I've come to this property and have been treated with nothing but kindness. They offer you a small fee compared to other ranchers and you are allowed 24 hours for the small fee, sorry, but you won't find that anywhere else. I'm honored to come and hunt, even if I leave with nothing.. The ONLY things they ask of you, is to leave the Bobcats alone and respect the property... For 200 that isn't much. Most Ranchers want 3-600 and that's for only a few hours. This family is chill as hell, people complain about the owner being drunk, dude, SHUT UP! It's is own property, I'd be drunk everyday too if I could. Thank you Storm Ranch for allowing people on your property and being kind with your hours and thank you very much for giving your hunters space. It takes a lot to trust people. This place gives peace! I've shot a Coyote while here and had a CRAZY encounter with Bobcats. It was sooo cool! read more

As a Western Big Game Guide I Would definitely recommend this Ranch for Birdwatching...........this was my first time at a Private Ranch most of the time I'm in the back country on public land. I don't think I'll ever go back to a Hunting ranch base off of this experience. Walked through the washes and around the property. Only seen a handful of tracks, no scat anywhere and 0 sign of Hogs. The feeders weren't throwing out enough feed to get even the birds attention and I mean I can count the corn that was on the ground.. Met Josh at the barn seemed like a nice Guy. First Red Flag was when he told us he was cleaning out the "Sludge" out of the feeders and he forgot a Bolder was on top of the feeder lid (poor guy had a big gash on his head.) after walking the property looking for beds and any sign of a hog and 8 hours in the blind we decided to leave. I sent Josh a text letting him know we are heading out and we would meet him at the barn. (No response) waited 30 min at the barn. Gave him a call no answer. Left him a VM for the automatic gate code. No answer. Drove to the gate to check if it was open. Waited another 45 min with 9 Calls to Josh NO ANSWER. Thank God whoever put the chain and lock on the gate next to it wasn't that bright. Sent him a text to let him know we had left But still no response. Very Unprofessional. read more

Promised that I would make more money than my under the table pay and never did. Accused us and several hunters of wounding a turkey. Doesn't have feed in the deer feeders. Quit looking for a better place, you won't find it. Mostly I hunt on out of state public land and on relatives' property. This was my first time hog hunting at a pay-to-hunt ranch. I did a lot of research both on-line and by interviewing many other hunters. Storm Ranch is simply a great place to hunt. The ranch is beautiful, scenic, historic, etc. Animals are varied and in abundance. The ranch is a first class, turn key operation for whatever animal you choose. There are many hunting options, Josh and his team will give you great insight to help you meet your goals. Unlike many other lesser places, there are no hidden fees. No pay-by-weight or number of hogs you shoot charges; no extra fees for skinning and quartering; no -you-supply-corn and ice fees; no add-on fees to hunt some mysterious, highly touted "honey-hole" like some places offer when you can't find a hog on some highly pressured property. At Storm Ranch, you can pretty much hunt where you want. You'll get great advice and unlike many other places, the game there is professionally managed year-round. They won't stand over your shoulder while you hunt, but they are ready to give you all the help you want or need. You'll get maximum, quality hunting opportunities. My step father and I decided to go for a hog hunt in Storm Ranch. Josh, the "owner" was very welcoming and a great host in the beginning. He explained about all the blinds and took us to his private shooting range where we shot clay pigeons and tannerite, we had a great time. Once Josh showed us around, we decided to head out for a spot and stalk hunt before the programmed time for the feeders to start releasing feed. Several hours into the hunt I decided to head back to the cabin while my step father was still spotting. I arrived at the cabin to unload my bag and noticed Josh was under the influence of alcohol. Thinking nothing of it I continued to unload my bag and headed back to the blind. Around midnight a storm starting forming above us and we decided to end the hunt. Once we arrived in the cabin I noticed female clothing tags on the floor and that my wallet was missing. I promptly called josh to inform him of the situation, he did not answer any of my 4 calls. I then proceeded to call his wife because my mother was on her way to pick us up and needed someone to open the main gate in order for her to drive to the cabin where our belongings were. Josh's wife kindly gave us the gate code. We loaded up the vehicle and I searched throughout my bags and equipment with no wallet to be found. Finally, josh answered the phone and I could hear that he was in the company of 2 women. I once again told him hat my wallet was missing and I asked him to come to the cabin to have a word. He arrived 40 minutes later (his main house is only half a mile away from the cabin) under the influence of alcohol and accompanied by the 2 women mentioned before. I informed him of the situation and he became very defensive, saying that he should have never given us the booking because we are "foreigners" (were from Florida). He changed his story several times attempting to cover his tracks. With no resolve, my family and I left. The next morning I called him to ask if by any chance he had found my wallet, however he did not. After I confronted him about the 2 young ladies being in our cabin which was suppose to be for the hunters, he changed his story again, saying that they were the wives of employees of his, seems hard to believe that he would be hanging out with his employees wife's without the presence of the husbands, since all the ordeal took place around 1am. He then admitted to me via text messages that the young ladies did enter the cabin to use the restroom which is exactly where the table was where we had left our belongings before heading out for the hunt. I belive that these two women were not anyone's wives or daughters of his fathers friend which was the initial story he gave me, and under his drunken state he gave the females the underwear he had purchased for them in the hunters cabin and didn't notice one of the ladies had stolen my wallet. I have proof of the purchased underwear tags which laid on the floor of our cabin and pictures of the young ladies present that night. I cannot recommend this ranch to anyone. Josh is an extremely irresponsible ranch "owner". I hope this review helps anyone make a decision of whether they should book a hunt on Storm Ranch or not. read more

Called storm ranch to schedule a date to have a group come out to hunt some hogs and stay in a cabin. They advertised the hog hunt would be 300$ and 100$ to stay at the cabin. We put a deposit of 200$ between all the guys which summed up to 1000$. Two days before the freeze I had called and explained that we would need to reschedule for another time due to the road conditions they said they had April or may open. Josh then called me directly and said if we could make out a day earlier he would let us stay in the cabin at no extra cost. Immediately when we showed up he made it clear that we were not going to be hunting that night but that we could stay in the cabin for free, he then told me that the bill balance was 1200$ I told him that when we booked it that we were told it was a balance of 1000$ we then agreed to pay the extra 200$ since some guys were driving from out of town. We stayed the night in the cabin the first night and everything was great until we noticed a huge leak coming from the sink in the bathroom and also water coming from the base of the toilet. After we told him what was going on he brought the stuff to fix it but never did. The day of the hunt he showed up late to take us to our designated blind. While sitting in the blind we saw and heard a Gator working in the same area we were hunting which compromised our spot. We then asked Josh to show us different blinds since the other one compromised. He then took off into town. Meanwhile he told us to go to the shooting range which we did not know where it was. After a good 45 minutes of looking for it we decided to go back to the cabin and wait for him. He then took a very long time to get back. One of the workers that were working on the ranch told us which road to take to get to the range. After getting the range he told us that we could shoot some skeet and shoot some Tannerite but the skeet machine was not working or set up for us to use. So we were not able to use it. After shooting for a while we decided to get back to the barn and wait for him to show us more blinds. Josh shows up after 2.5 hours and brings a 24 pack of beer and was already drunk. He then brought out a guitar to entertain everyone but made a fool out of himself. His wife came and got him and took him home. We then went into the cabin because we didn't know where to go. After waiting for a while we noticed that the temperature began to drop inside the cabin which lead to the mini split unit going out. The plug had turned black from burning out. I then called Josh repeatedly to see if they would have a solution for us before we get back from the hunt but he never answered his phone. I then decided to go to the main house on the property to see if someone could help us with the issue but in the process of going there his wife was coming down the driveway. She handed us a pile of papers for us to sign which were liability forms. I then explained to her that we were dissatisfied with the service we were getting after paying 2400$ and requested a partial refund. She then told me that her husband had already gave us a free night to stay in the cabin. I then explained to her that we were compromised earlier in the day in the morning when the gators were working on the fence line. She mentioned that she would have Josh talk to me. Josh called me about 45 min later and told me he was coming to get us. I told him that I was not satisfied with how he was conducting his business and himself as the proper host. He then told me to get the Fu$& off his property and that he would issue me a refund. He then never came down to give me a refund but me and the group packed all of our things because we did not want the situation to escalate. While being escorted out Josh was texting and calling me telling me that he was waiting for us and guessed that we were already in our blind. He then told me we were welcomed to come back again at no extra cost but after experiencing all that I decided to not ever go back and do not recommend anyone to spend their hard earned money on this property. After reading his disclaimer document it stated that we would not be able to leave a negative review or sue anyone on the property. We did not sign the waiver and wanted to let everyone know that this is where he tricks people to sign the waiver to not sue him or the ranch after he takes your money and leaves you cluelessly on the property. read more

I'd probably give it 2.5 stars if that was an option... but it isn't. The ranch is quite beautiful and very convenient to Austin which was a huge plus. They also have an unlimited hog policy which makes it attractive. Although you need to bag a hog to make that meaningful. Two primary issues with this place. The first was that they told us to go a feeder that was posted above a pond. The previous rain had caused a small pond to form below the feeder so the feed would just dump into the water. For obvious reasons that setup doesn't work. We easily wasted 1.5 hours at that feeder before we realized. At the end of the day we mentioned it to them and they were like, "oh yeah". It really had us scratching our heads as to why they wouldn't have said something to us. We saw very little sign of pigs which was disappointing. In fact, we didn't see any animals at all. Literally not even a squirrel. As we were leaving they told us there were another few guys that had been on the property for 2 days and had only seen 2 hogs. I guess this makes sense given the fact that things didn't look that active. The second, and just as problematic, issue was that one of us was bitten by a dog that drew blood on the property. $50 for parking with the horses! Serious shit!! This is worse than forced valet parking. At least in Vegas it only costs $24 to park for evening of entertainment. And the streets of Vegas were much cleaner than where we parked here! The flies were horrible. Honestly, in Vegas, its a better risk. Finding hogs or betting all on black - all are a crap shoot. At least in Vegas I expect not to win and I am not surprised by having to park with the horses. read more

Disappointment doesn't even explain how I feel about our trip. We didn't get what we paid for. Our trip was suppose to include 2 full days of hunting, clay pigeons and a semi guided hunt which we did not receive. We felt more of an inconvenience then anything. We only received 2 towels which we had to use for three days because they never changed them out. We had to ask for toilet paper and the water smelled like rotten eggs. You couldn't even brush your teeth with the tap water. We had been there in May and it was good and we thought we would given it another shot and it was the worst mistake we ever made and it was seriously a waste of $750.00 bucks to be exact. Also there was no HOGS on their property and the pictures they showed us were from months ago. There are no signs of HOGS believe us. So if I were you I would give your money to another outfit that doesn't make you feel like an inconvenience but more like a guest!!!! read more

Time of Year: February Weather: Was between 35F at night and 80F during the day. Avg Temp in the high 60's low 70's. No Rain. Package: A buddy and I purchased the "premium" $500.00 all-inclusive package. 1.) Josh, Katie, and Mario are nice people. 2.) Accommodations are what you would expect for a pig hunt however they do have wifi and directtv which is a huge plus. Warm water showers. 3.) The hog hunts are non-guided and even though you can hunt via spot n' stalk expect to do your all of your hog hunting in a blind at night in the pitch dark from 8pm-4am with nothing but handheld green flashlights that you turn on periodically. I wish this was made clearer when I asked about spot n' stalk vs blind/stand hunting. I would have immediately chose differently. We walked miles during the first day without seeing any wildlife whatsoever minus birds. 4.) Most of the two man blinds we hunted out of are at least 40 yards from the feeders through areas that are not necessarily mowed down (knee high grass) so in most cases your view can may/be obstructed. I'd recommend bringing a seat cushion for the plastic/metal chairs in the blinds. 5.) This was the most frustrating part of the whole experience. There were timed feeders and then a pole near the feeder with a solar powered motion activated light. These lights/feeders were inconsistent over the course of the hunt even after they checked them the first night when we noticed they weren't working properly." The light would work during the day but then not work in the evening. I think the battery needed to be replaced. 6.) My opinion is that night vision or thermal should have been provided or required if we were going to hunt at night. If you have your own Night Vision you will likely want thermal instead because of the aforementioned knee high grass, thickets, brush, etc. 7.) It is very hard to hear in the blinds and this really isn't a knock on the ranch just more of an observation that you are going to be minus two senses sight (hunting in the dark) and hearing (inside the blind) 8.) Josh, Mario, and his friend took us trap shooting the 2nd day and this was included in the package. This was a good time. 9.) We were served a breakfast, lunch, dinner each day. 10.) They show you via Polaris ranger where you will be hunting each evening and will take you out to your blind if needed. We drove our truck nearby to the blind each evening. The terrain to some of the blinds is rough. Overall we had zero success and we didn't see a pig after a weekend Friday 12PM- Sunday 12PM hunt. Josh did offer an extra day on the end of our hunt or off a future hunt but honestly we were so frustrated at that point with the non-working equipment we just wanted to leave. Not harvesting an animal was not the frustrating part of this hunt. It was the non-functioning equipment as you have to solely rely on that each night to be successful. I would not recommend this to my friends, family, or other hunters. read more
