Aspen Meadows would be best described as a dog-walking park…read more While it has a gigantic space, there aren't the usual sporting accoutrements like tennis courts, basketball hoops, goals and such (although the room is plentiful enough for it!). There is, however, a perfectly placed playground for the kids, a few picnic tables including one under a gazebo. This playground includes the usuals and some unusuals, including a cool mini rock-climbing wall. The is a little bit of road noise, but luckily 9800 isn't used much up this way! Placed on a steepish hill, with a walkway around it, the grandiose space is perfect for walking your dog...or walking yourself. ;) There is even a poop-bag station. There is also a cool walk path connecting directly from the nearby neighborhood. Definitely a cool park for the whole family!

I found myself on the trail on a Sunday morning and crossed paths with plenty of other runners and joggers. It's a well traveled trail-likely because it's in a super convenient place with parking and a restroom nearby. There's also a playground for the kiddos, so it's kind of perfect for everything park-related.

There's a little bridge and stream running through the park, lots of benches and green space to relax and enjoy. The main attraction of the park is definitely the playground, which is huge. I went during the middle of the day and it was a bit chilly, so there was no one using it but it's quite large and I can imagine it gets pretty busy during the warmer days. From the looks of it in other pictures posted, there's shade for the playgrounds in the summer too. There are four large pavilions throughout the park as well, with lots of picnic tables to utilize. There are several huge grassy areas and lots of people walking and playing with their dogs. It was nice to walk through although it's not large enough to walk or run laps around like Liberty Park or Sugarhouse Park. This is a great space to go to if you're looking to picnic, play with your dogs, bring your family to, or sit and read. There was a sign by the entrance that said there is a community garden coming to this park soon! It's a partnership between Wasatch Community Gardens and the city of South Salt Lake. All the families hanging out to watch the soccer games, the baseball games, the hopes and dreams of kids in uniforms. It's pure American Saturday morning fun. Indeed, this is more of an organized sports kind of place, but they do have pavilions and a playground. There's a fun summertime 1-2 punch with the Alta Canyon Rec Center, so I like to think of the whole complex as a 4-seasons of fun place. If you're looking to get out, there's even some exercise equipment that you can use to get your heart rate up.

It's 7 acres of pure, unadulterated sports: Two baseball diamonds, a soccer pitch, a sand volleyball court, and four tennis courts. It helps that its attached (and, I'm sure in many circles considered part of) the Alta Canyon Sports Center, which itself brings adjacent swimming pools and request ball courts. For the most part, the facilities are of a very high quality. I noticed the grass in the baseball fields is uneven; your outfielders will be rumblin' and bumblin' and stumblin' every time they go after a fly ball. And lest we forget the usual park amenities: A high-quality and spacious playground, two reservable pavilions, and a walking path. Of note, while the Alta Canyon Sports Center is well labeled, the Park is not. The best way to get to it is to turn on to Highland (from 9400 S), and take the subtly marked Candle Spruce Cove. The whole Alta Canyon area is great ... and the park should keep your heart rate up throughout the summer!

Lots of ducks were out with the little babies. Looks like there's a little fun area with rides for kids and food. It wasn't open for the season looks like. A little ways down was a big aviary with over 300 hundred birds, all kinds of species. Not sure what the admission price was since we didn't go in but we saw lots of families entering. We didn't get to explore the whole park, it was so big. It's a great place to picnic but watch for duck poop on the grass!

I honestly wasn't planning to do much at Murray City Park (I just stopped by to stretch my legs for…read morea bit) but it ended up being way nicer than you expect a quick stop to be. When you enter, you're greeted by a huge wooden Chief Wasatch sculpture at the entrance. It's kind of hard to miss and gives the whole place a bit of character before you even step onto the paths. From there, it opens up into this really clean, green space that just feels well cared for. And clean is the big thing here that matters. It feels like the park is well maintained. The grass is lush, the landscaping is especially pretty in the summer months, and there are tons of mature trees that give you shade without making the place feel closed in. It strikes a nice balance between open space and cozy, private areas. The walking paths are another highlight. They're easy, flat, and perfect if you're just trying to clear your head or, like me, take a quick break and stretch your legs. You've also got little views of water here and there that add to the calm vibe without turning it into a full-on destination park. What's kind of impressive is how much is packed into one place. There's an amphitheater, sports fields for pretty much everything, a pool, even an outdoor ice rink when it's in season. The park has playgrounds, picnic areas, and pavilions, too. The park is open year-round and is clearly a local favorite because it's always buy, but the crowds never felt overwhelming when I was there. There's enough space to spread out, which helps. Overall, this park is not trying to be anything flashy, just a really solid, well-kept community park. Easy to walk, nice to look at, and surprisingly relaxing for a quick stop. Definitely one of those spots you end up appreciating more than you expected.
