We contacted Midway Plumbing when we were having a sink drain issue in my kitchen. The plumber;…read moreRyder Ratliff, did an awesome job in clearing the drain and in the process we encountered a few other issues. Ryder addressed them, completed the job with professionalism. He's very meticulous and does quality work. We appreciated the great work he did. We will use them again if needed in the future.

My sewage line wasn't draining properly so I got bid from them. They used a camera (sophisticated) to explore the sewage line, which was about 60 ft from the fence line/alley. Guy said that it was old clay pipe that needed to be replaced for $7000. And they would have to replace it all the way to the city main, which would make Abilene the only city that allows anyone to work on their city mains. So just to check on what the city had which I figured was upgraded to pvc (it was) I dug down to the sewer line at the edge of the property. So I started digging down to the sewer line a couple of other places just to verify what the plumber claimed. It ended up only being clay about 10 ft on my property from the city's line. So if the guy had been honest and not tried to grossly exaggerated or pad the estimate he would have said replace the 10 feet of clay because he couldn't have missed it with the camera that he ran from the trap next to my house down toward the fence line. This is probably a common way that unscrupulous plumbers line their pockets. It took a day to dig up that 10 ft of clay and replace w pvc. Cost $89 for supplies. What a profit margin. The sad thing or maybe part of the scam was the fish (Christian) symbol on his truck.

In the course of the repairs, it was determined the base for the hot water heater and interior of the A/C should be replaced. The home owner used a stone mason recommended by Adams Plumbing. The homeowner paid $2020.00 for the base. Subsequently, with no notification, explanation or offer of alternatives, Adams Plumbing tore down 1/2 of the masonry and replaced it with ugly cinder blocks. Pete Mares, owner of Adams Plumbing, agreed to make repairs to the base so they would match, but didn't. Another stone mason had to be called in at the cost of another $450.00 to the elderly home owner who is on a fixed income. The home owner has texts, receipts, telephone calls and witnesses that Mares admits to the destruction of the stone work and that he would "make it right". He never did. He then said he would reimburse the homeowner for the repairs to the stone. He never did. In fact, the first week of Oct., Pete Mares took $200.00 to the contractor overseeing the repair to the house with the request to get the homeowner's daughter "Off his a**.". I would never use this company and most certainly never trust them to not take advantage of the elderly or absentee homeowners.

This company was listed as a remodeling contractor. I have no complaints about the plumbing except…read moreit was expensive. But as for the other trades... Do NOT let the two men who identified themselves as painters anywhere near your walls. They have no concept of using tape or prepping before painting. They did not fill any nail holes before painting, and I am still cleaning up paint from the new tile floors. They painted all of my electronic equipment for no extra charge though. I ended up getting new doors, baseboards, and crown molding to cover up the mistakes that the painters made. This cost more than the original cost of the paint job. The walls still are streaked and uneven. The electrician acted as though he was doing me a favor by showing up to do what I paid him to do. He was to have installed all new switches and electrical plugs, which he didn't. He took the shortcut when he could. When a switch shorted out, he told me just not to use it. He left out an essential bolt in a ceiling fan. I discovered this after I got a new fan to replace the rattling one. Guess what instruction number 3 said to do. " "Insert bolt to hold motor in place." The tile was expertly laid, but the tile guys that did the grout left grout haze on all of my floors. All of them! I may never get it off. It was suggested that I wax them. Why would I get tile floors, so I could wax them ?!?!?! Those guys also left all their trash for me to deal with. There were 2 big garbage bags full and were too heavy for me to lift. I ended up doing some of the painting myself, and ordering mirrors and vent covers that never were delivered on my own. Never again!
