After thoroughly reading reviews, and getting multiple quotes, I decided to go with Mobile West for…read morewindow tinting on my wife's car. They were not the cheapest, nor were they the most expensive. After getting quoted $425 for the entire car with ceramic tint, we scheduled the appointment. I dropped the car off and was told it would take about half the day. I arrived back to pick it up after receiving a call about 4.5 hours later. I went inside and paid. They originally tried to charge me more than was quoted because of a total of 9 windows instead of 7 (they count the 6 inch triangles next to the front two) but Peter made it right, and only charged what he had quoted. I should've inspected the car before paying, because their were several issues with it. After inspecting it, I brought Peter out to take a look. There were several scratches up the sides of the windows, and what looked like rust particles under a few. I am aware that there would be bubbles for a few days while they dried, but this was not that. Peter told me that it was from the plastic tool that they use, and that it should go away in a few days, but if it didn't, to come back and they would redo them. I also noticed that from spraying the windows and the film, our car doors and rear seat had stains on them that were not previously there. I messaged Peter and was scheduled the next week to have them redo some of the windows and have the detail guys clean the fabrics. After bringing it back to them, they did replace the window tints that had the scratches, and I couldn't tell if they actually did detail it, because some of the liquid lines are still visible. Unfortunately, this $425 window tint is going to cost me more money because I'll have to take the car to a real detail shop to clean up. They also left scrap tint trash crumpled up on the floor of the back seat. Overall, I'm not sure how they do with car electronics, but I would personally not recommend them for window tinting.

While my initial experience fell short, Steve and the team did everything to make it right. Isn't…read morethat how all business should operate? Needing a real stereo system for my car, I investigated a few shops and decided on Mobile West. My challenge is that all of my music is on iTunes but my amartphone is Android. I don't want to Bluetooth music from my Android as it drains the battery. My goal was to use my iPod shuffle as the music source, which they said could be done. It can't. The speakers, while good, were located in an area that were blocked anytime I had my gym bag or groceries on the floor. After a few back and forths, I upgraded the stereo and put in additional speakers to give it surround sound and to avoid the side door situation. I have a tiny car, which makes it challenging. Mobile West gave me full credit for the previous equipment and the install, which I put towards the new configuration. Stereo system works, not with iPod shuffle, but with an old iPhone that I keep just for this purpose. Most important, the sound is fabulous! Several months later, I noticed the small microphone for voice commands had popped off, opening the sun visor had knocked it. I stopped by the other day and Steve greeted me at the door, remembering me and my car. After taking a look, he said the microphone should be in a different location away from the visor. Without hesitation, he said they would rewire and install a new microphone holder, no charge, since they stand by their work. I didn't have to bring my receipt or anything. He remembered me and that was good enough. I brought my car in the next morning, it took just 10 minutes to rewire to new location. Not only did it look better, it picks up my voice better. Thanks, Steve, I really appreciate you and your team!

Musicar Northwest - The install looks 100% stock except for the removable subwoofer in the trunk, per my desire.

Musicar Northwest I…read morehad a stereo installed by Musicar Northwest in my 2023 Porsche Macan. I live very closeby in Portland, OR. Products: Musicar does custom car stereo installs for many brands of cars. They have some pre-engineered solutions for some Porsche models. They have a solution for my Macan. This includes choosing suitable components like amps, speakers, digital processors, soundproofing. It includes their installation process, the tools, and all the tips and tricks they learned - see the YouTube videos. They even "re-brand" some of the individual components from Audio Fischer and Morel to Musicar. Note: these are Best of Class components. Planning: Musicar offers several options for the Macan. For instance, they can use a Digital DSP (NAV-TV ZEN-V) for better signal quality (I opted), upgrade the rear speakers (I declined), add a center channel and speaker (I opted), and a custom constructed subwoofer box (I declined and asked for a pre-built JL CS110LG-TW3). I asked Musicar to install 2 x plastic handles on the sub, use some Velcro straps to affix it to some tie down straps in the Macan, and to use Speakon twist and lock speaker cable connectors. If you are local, they are glad to have you in to tour the office/workshop and listed to some sample installs. Execution: Musicar took the car on a Monday and returned it on a Friday. However, unbeknownst to me, my Macan had water soaking the passenger footwell carpet. Nick/Musicar contacted me about this and had kindly dried the carpet while working on other areas of the car to stay on schedule. The system looks 100% stock - the subwoofer/tune selecter controller was installed perfectly inside the armreset console and the speaker grills remain stock. Exception: the removeable JL sub box sits in the covered cargo area behind the read seat, exactly as I preferred, and is affixed by velcro straps with a secure and removable Speakon connector. Follow Up: There was one follow up visit to 1) adjust the gain higher on the subwoofer, 2) extend the subwoofer speaker cable for more slack and option to move the box around. Conclusion: Musicar was by far my BEST EXPERIENCE with custom stereo upgrades so far - I had at least 3 done - and I am 100% SATISFIED. Their AMAZING DESIGN of the system - including going up to 9" woofers in the door where the stock system has 8" most others go down to 7" or 6.5" - results in superb bass response from the doors. The consultation process was great - Nick is a wonderful host, knows his stereo and music, and gives great guidance on how to achieve your goals in a system. And addressing the unexpencted water intrusion issue as part of the install process - that is EXCEPTIONAL serivce. The tune made by Nick was almost exactly what I was looking for - and adjusting Bass/Treble a bit in the head unit, and increasing sub gain a bit made it perfect. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Nick and the Musicar Team for your car stereo install/upgrade. Website: https://musicarnw.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/musicarnw

    Distinctive Sound - the culprit!

I recently bought an old Tacoma that had some unwanted "features" with the electrical system. I did…read moresome research and it looked like the old factory/port installed alarm system might be the culprit. I couldn't be sure removing it would solve my issues (flashing hazards, blinking dash lights, clicking sounds, etc), but John's price was reasonable so I knew I wanted to give it a try before I took it in to a mechanic (and spent 10x the money). So...I brought the truck in to John yesterday, and a few hours later he had expertly removed the alarm and all of its tentacles. I wasn't too optimistic when I started the truck up to leave, but was *thrilled* when I didn't see flashing lights or hear annoying clicking sounds! I'll definitely be coming back to John at Distinctive Sound when I'm ready to replace the crappy stereo the previous owners installed!

Questionable Business Practices…read more Summary: Please don't sell used products (according to the mfr it was already sold on 1/17/15), please don't sell discontinued items over four years old, and lastly please don't tell me something which is not validated with technical documentation. 9/24/19 - John installed a mirror camera monitor and license plate camera. The very next day I noticed static sounds, the mirror would not turn off, and when on a Bluetooth call the backup camera would not function. No refunds, so he suggested I call product support and ask for a replacement. Items for concerns that John said, but is different from the manufacturer 1- The static is from my Bluetooth connection - is not accurate according to mfr 2- The mirror had an internal capacitor that would turn off in 15 min - does not exist according to mfr. 3-The mirror has an internal fan, that's why the static noises - does not exist according to mfr. 10/04 - John reinstalled the new mirror warranty replacement, but still had the same issues, however he did rewire and so the camera does now turn-off with the vehicle. Also, this is after a number of phone calls, and several conference calls with mfr Tech Support, myself and John. 10/5 - Put the transaction in dispute. Why? According to the mfr this camera was listed as sold in 1/17/2015, and is a discontinued product. Also, when the mfr bench tested the returned product it did not have any issues. That let me to believe it's a compatibility issue with the license plate (guess) or a wiring issue. Later - He was finally willing to have me return the product but I had to include the originally packaging (probably to sell it to the next guy), however he never provided me the packaging. 12/09 - I wrote him a letter including a return envelope asking if he would accept the return without the packaging, as of 1/10/20 have not heard back. Lastly, John you cannot file a thief report for an item that is dispute, it's a Federal protected process. I ignored your voicemail and your multiple calls. If anyone wishes details, I can provide the mfr number with serial number, all the emails, and the voicemails John left. Giving a 2 since the License Plate seems fine, and there is a really good Vietnamese restaurant next door.
