A quick stop on the way back from the Cape, this was snacks and drinks after using the restroom. We found the store to be tidy, well stocked and easy to navigate. Other than the restroom was waaaaaay in the back, everything else was fine. No problem in the deli department with getting some sliced turkey and cheese and the tomato we purchased from produce was fine. I can appreciate that they have a price check machine in the aisles. It's a nice, mid-range grocery store. It's not Trader Joe's or Wegmans or Publix. But they have a great selection and the prices were good. This store is always out of stock on common items forcing you to buy higher priced items. And with that said their prices are higher than other competitors in town. It's the closest supermarket to me so I go there for fill-ins but I do my big shopping at other places. read more

This is just another way S&S shoes us they don't care about getting better. They will continue to falsely claim certain items are on sale in the flyer when it is the regular price. The prices are still through the roof much more than Market Basket and Shaws. S$S is still charging for bags nickel and diming customers at every chance. This is the most ghetto Stop and Shop, always feel like I am being watched. Dirty floors, scum on shelves bathrooms. Dirty surroundings. Homeless people living right outside their doors. Out-of-date food on shelves I always have to double check. Not so good looking produce. For how expensive things have become, do better Stop and Shop. read more

Good spot for groceries -plenty of parking, and good selection for produce and random non-necessities like cheese. Bought some cuties on sale here and when I got back to the Airbnb noticed a pretty healthy mold colony on the inside of the bag, like a colony big enough to have a basic economy and road works going. That was a little disturbing and when I tried to return them around 8 that night, a young woman was rude about it. Returned them the following day and the staffer at customer service was nice, so Id stay the staff is batting .500 for just general niceness. All in all, its just okay. All the basics, just double check your produce. Prices are standard, but be on the lookout for sales. Got my razors that normally cost 10 for 5 one day. read more

Not sure about all of the negative comments here! Obviously when people have good experiences they don't document it. These very few negative comments can negatively impact a business. East Wareham Stop & Shop of the only supermarket in the area that carries all the natural brands my family consumes. I have NEVER purchased moldy food. These towns folk work hard and courteous. When you have a. Complaint or a return they just kindly make it right. The people that work there are helpful, the ladies at the deli and the gentlemen at the butcher counter also kind and bring a smile to the face. While traveling home from Cape Cod we decided to stop at this Stop and Shop because we needed to take a quick bathroom break as well as stock up on some snacks for the road. When we entered the store we were surprised to see how empty it was. The produce section was not well stocked and they also had limited hot entrees. When it came time to check out our experience was even worse. See cashier was not friendly and didn't exchange one word with us. In the end we have definitely been to better Stop and Shop locations and we were a bit disappointed at the service we got here. On top of that the bathrooms were fairly gross and it seems as though they needed to do a lot of maintenance overall on the store. We would come here in the future but only if it was a last minute stop like this one. read more

East Wareham Stop & Shop Voicing My Opinion 09/01/19 I pray that Stop & Shop closes and gets replaced by Market Basket not only do they mistreat their employees, but also their customers. Their prices are way to high and their produce is discusting! They treat their customers like thieves. I bought items next door at Ocean State, the items I bought were bagged in recycling bags. Cashing out at S&S the bagger asked me if I notified the cashier of these items. I advised her that I bought them from Ocean State. She proceeded to go touch my things in the bag anyways and picked one of my items up. I said to her Ma'am I told you I bought them from Ocean State the receipt is right there. I made sure my receipt was right on top before I even entered S&S. Why use recycling bags if I am going to be labeled a theif? She didn't even ask my permission to look, she just took it upon herself to touch my things after I already told her! That is what really upsets me. I already defused the situation anyways. Too bad there's no minus a star options here. That being said, this Stop and Shop is the absolute worst managed one in all of New England! I don't even know where to start. Let me begin with the meat. I'm tired of buying meet only to find out it's bad when I get home. Also, I've been hounding them to order more A & W diet root beer. They simply never have it. I spoke to a manager about this, but things didn't change. Finding basic items in here is a task in itself. Whole wheat hog dog rolls is another product I can never get there. Some of the employees are rude. I asked one worker if she knew who was responsible for cleaning the Men's room because there was a woman in there cleaning up with about four men in there. She said, "how the hell do I know?" On my way in one afternoon I told the kid who was taking the head count that the hand sanitizer was empty he responded "oh well"! Oh, and in closing, this whole idea of changing the location of all the products created insanity. I used to know where everything was, now it's just a guessing game. When did the average consumer become non-paid employees at Stop n Shop Wareham? I had just finished working a nine hour day and stopped in to pick up a few snacks for the grandchildren who were coming over to decorate the tree, approximately 20 items. At 4:00 pm in the afternoon there were only two registers open and one of those was for 12 items or less. All others had to go to self check-out. Every self check-out register was being used and most people had many items in the cart. The call for help light was going off at every register due to items not scanning correctly for whatever reason. There should be a sign not to bother with produce that needs to be weighed (not accepted and help light). There is no room to put more than a few items in the baggage area. It was the worse experience and I will never go back (I live ten minutes up the road). If my grandchildren were not waiting for me, I would have left the cart at the check-out and gone home. If I wanted to be a cashier, I would be a cashier. All the money being saved on payroll is not being passed on to the consumers. All items were more expensive than other places. The one star is only because the place was open. I will gladly travel the few extra miles to shop at Market Basket and Shaws. read more

People actually review this place? Well OK then. It's sad that most major supermarkets are filled with mostly unhealthy food; this store is no exception. Typical large produce section but never has anything locally grown. Store requires scanning a shopper card to get lowest prices. I have shopped at many of this chains locations including Cohasset, Weymouth, Brockton, both loc in Yarmouth and Sandwich and I like the Wareham store the best. They have a huge selection, good meats and seafood and I find the produce to be very good. There is a large salad bar and an olive/cheese bar also. The bakery makes quite a few artisan breads. The only negatives are the deli which is of average quality and ridiculously high prices and for some unkown reason (laziness,ignorance?) is always crowded. I get my deli stuff at the Hilltop Butcher in Weymouth. The prices are close to half of S&S and the service is very fast. Of course, its a hike from Wareham, but I'd say go to Mazillis for deli, which is still better than S&S. My other gripe is not exclusive to these guys; its those maddening self checkouts from Hell. I have used it 4 or 5 times and have had problems at least 3 times. Twice the receipt paper ran out, don't try to use it for anything but the simplest transaction like 2 reg price items, maybe 3. I got behind some dingdong yuppie couple today trying to check out a whole carriage full of stuff. I should have brought a book or queud up Alice's Restaurant on the Ipod for this epic test of patience. These machines are a great way to eliminate the costly payroll of a cashier except veirtually every transaction requires a clerk's assistance and they just beg for people to steal stuff. What 40lb bag of dog food on the bottom of the carriage? Oh that! This idea is still about 5 years too soon, the technology is poor and I will wait behind the old lady wrting a check rather than use on of these again. Stuff here is so much more expensive than market basket which is just a ten minute drive down the road (without cape traffic). A ton of parking and it's a large stop and shop. But the staff we encountered were less than friendly. We only come here when we HAVE to. read more

SEAFOOD CLERK HAD HEAVY +3LB THUMB. Wife ordered 6 select lobsters (1.5-2lb) at $11.99/lb on Weds for Friday pickup. Arrived to pick up the lobsters and found the clerk filling a lobster bags with pieces of claws and legs. Asked for my wife's order and he handed me the two bags I just saw him fill, each over 4.5lbs and $11.99/lb. I decided to weigh the bags at check out and found the bags weighted less than what I was charged for, and that's including the tare weight of the thick double lobster bags. Went back to the seafood counter and re-weighed all 6 lobsters, every one of them under 1.25lbs, chix size and only 8.99lb, meaning the weight was over 3 lbs and $3 per lb difference, a difference of over $20. Explanation from the clerk? He said that somebody else started the order. No apology. Even went to the manager to get the $10 for being charged the wrong price. Again no apology. read more

They recently upgraded the Stop & Shop, making it bigger and including more items. My big gripe with this Stop & Shop is that it continues to have some of the worst produce around. It is nearly impossible to find an onion that is worth buying. Their meat section is okay, the butchers are friendly and helpful. If someone is hired to bag groceries, they should be trained on how to do so correctly. Why would you bag canned foods with a soft loaf of bread? Or put deli meat at the bottom of a plastic bag and then pile on heavy produce? Needless to say, I get to my car and have to re-bag my items before driving home. Now that the work action at the other chain has ended and the major major chain grocery story has become more competitive, it is tme this that this store gives a training session in customer service and begins to price their productsmore competitively. The people of the area aren't as stupid a they may think they are and if this does not occur, maybe it is time we all move on to the better choices for shopping in the area. It seems the attitude of the personnel at the Wareham store is "they need us". They feel "we can say and do anything we want to" and unfortunately this sentiment is supported by the management of the store. It is clearly a case of geographic discrimination. For many years I have always suspected that the chain uses this store as a medium to move out products for ttheir other stores where the dates are near thier end, this is expecially true during the winter months... who has ever heard of packaged cookies(Oreo's, Quaker Oats etc.) where there are only 2 weeks left of the expiration date and the shelves are stocked with them... The management in the store is totally indifferent to the consumers. They will seldom, if every, address an issue for a consumer and in most cases will take the same rude attitude that their employees have. In part I feel bad for the workers in the store because they have never been trained in customer service. Until the consumers actually take some action, like they did for the other chain, the BAD behavior and inferior quality will continue at this store. The first suggestion, I would recommend is that they stock the store with smiles and personalities to welcome consumers along with merchandise that is fresh and not left overs from other stores.. Shame on us consumers for condoning the actions of the store employees as acceptable treatment for so long by continuing to shop there and a BIG shame ont he upper management who allow this dirty store with ill mannered employees and improperly trained managers to continue advantage of everyone for so long... I work hard for my $$ and have come to the firm conclusion, I will spend them where the they are appreciated and they have the products that are worth what they charge for them... I hope the people in Wareham follow me as I move my shopping to other retail food chains where they appreciate their consumers! read more
