Horrible, humiliating experience. It might as well have been called the "Vending Machine Syndrome". Post-shopping, I used the first machine at the self-checkout. I gave the machine 20$--and man, was that the worst thing I could have ever done. Not only did it NOT register the money I gave it, the whole machine froze for a good while. I called out to the staff person managing the checkout center, to which I was told "someone will assist you soon." I spent almost twenty minutes waiting at the checkout for someone to "assist" me, the line's growing longer behind me, and I'm getting anxious from staff members looking at my situation, talk to the previous staff members, then disappear somewhere. Finally, a person who I assume to be the technician opened the check-out station, retrieved the money stuck far in the machine, gave me a receipt, and...that was it. No apologies, not even a "Thank you, please come again" from anyone, not from him, the store manager who popped by, nor the managing staff. After the aggravating Vending Machine Syndrome experience, a quick word would have made all the difference. Terrible store, terrible staff, and terrible customer service. read more

Had a ton of ingredients all wasted bc the can I opened was bad wasted more money than planned. Stop and shop, or as commonly referred to as stop and rob, are plentiful all over long Island. All locations have ample parking. Stores are normally clean and shelves are typically stocked fairly well. Stop and rob at all locations to my knowledge have at least a deli, fish counter, butcher and bakery section. Weekends sometimes help is scarce, as well as evenings. Prices for most things are typically fair. Sales are sometimes very good discounts. Vegetables and fruits always look healthy. Stores normally have a good amount of registers open for checkout, not limited to the self checkout section. What stop and Rob lacks, the fish counter has a smaller selection than other markets (king kullen, shop rite). On the positive side, most stop and shops have lobster tanks for live seafood. Also, stores have taken on digital coupons, which I find to be an annoyance. These coupons have to be loaded onto your store card. The biggest negative is stop and shop is guilty of not fulfilling sales. Numerous times I've seen items on sale that are either hard to get or a good price and the shelves are bare. They had st Louis style ribs on sale and I went to FIVE (5) different locations. Only one had them and the ones they had were cut up, which were useless to me. Most recently it was pork shoulder on sale, not a trace. This has also been the case with lobster and most recently coho salmon. It's very disappointing when that's the sole reason you're there. Not that I partake in the culture, but s&s has a organic brand (nature's promise) which seems to be fairly good quality. They have a wide selection of this, so if that's your thing, you might save a lot compared to whole foods. Their staff is also very friendly. I'm updating my review bc that employee mentioned in my previous review seemed to be a fluke & I assume doesn't work there anymore. Overall, this is the main supermarket I shop at & is way better than your competitor, Shoprite, up the block. Generally, most of the employees here are very nice. Recently, there app offer for a free item (some kind of cheese) that I couldn't locate. I went to customer service, asking where it was, thinking I missed it or maybe was somewhere else in the store. I was told it was out of stock. I didn't even ask but the employee offered a rain check. Something so simple to offer, but not something most employees would do. My husband and I were, until last night, long time customers of the Stop & Shop in Levittown. We were shopping last night, December 26 at about 10:15. You would never know that New York State has a mask mandate. Very few customers were masked and even some employees were unmasked. When I asked a masked employee if they did not enforce the mask mandate at night, she replied that all they could do is ask the customer if s/he needed a mask. Clearly the store does not support requiring customers to mask. In fact they don't even require masking of their own employees. In the midst of an Omicron spike, S&S in Levittown chooses to flout NYS law and endanger the health and safety of its customers. I don't feel safe buying food at a store that flagrantly violates the law and has no regard for its customers. read more

My mother and I just had the absolute worst shopping experience here. Stop & Shop used to be my go-to place for gluten free and dairy free options but after today I honestly may never shop there again. My mom and I spent an hour and a half going up and down the aisles and filled our cart to the brim. We were ready to check out around 9 only to find that every single cash register was closed. Only self checkout was open. If you are a self checkout user, you know that Stop & Shop's system is by far the most finicky and difficult to use. We weren't the only shoppers unhappy with this but it appears that's their policy - after 9, only self checkout is available. I have never heard such an idiotic policy in my life. Even with several customers admitting their discomfort, no registers were opened. My mom and I spent over 20 minutes checking out!!! It was such an absolute waste of time. And it didn't help that the employee who was there to "help" was being condescending and smug the entire time as we were struggling. She told us not to bag any items until the scale couldn't hold anything else, then continually made snide remarks about us "struggling" and "playing Jenga" and snapped at my mom not to touch anything when things started to fall. Finally, one of our containers of spinach fell and opened up. To her credit, she did stop to clean it up, but not without commentary about how she'd rather lick the floor than eat spinach. Overall, between the complete inconvenience of being forced to use the self checkout with a full cart and dealing with rude and grating workers, it's safe to say I'm not interested in returning there any time soon. read more

This used to be a good store. Lately, the last few months, sale items are rarely in stock. Deli lines are too long. Employee morale is low. Employees disgruntled and not helpful. Cashiers not available early on Sunday mornings. If it is management cost cutting efforts that are causing these problems, then management needs to re-evaluate its strategy. I'm far more familiar w'the S&Ss on Merrick Rd. in Amityville & Seaford as I live in Massapequa but I was looking for a new item that was said to be in LI S&Ss & being in Levittown anyway I thought I check out this S&S as it is bigger than either that are closer to home & the website of my item said they had 2 flavors rather than the one available @ my 2 stores. After a rather long afternoon doing other errands I was overwhelmed by the size of the store & seeing no clear indication of the 'Natural Food' area I'm accustomed to in my stores, I started asking store personal. Imagine my surprise when after talking w'3 different store personnel & being sent repeatedly to the produce area where there was a large 'Organic' sign on the wall but NOTHING like the area I was looking for, even though I had said to each & every one of the personal it was a shelf stable item. Every S&S I have been in here on Long Island has a 'Natural Foods' area much the same as all KingK's have a one or two asile 'Wild by Nature' section. Each & every employee I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about....one woman, seeming to be 'in charge' up front near the registers kept telling me where the Gluten Free area was though I had told here @ least 3 times it was 'Vegan Tuna Fish' by a Co. named 'Good Catch' in which case she indicated where tuna was....seemingly having literally no idea what I was speaking about...no amount of explanation on my part about 'vegan tuna' or 'not- tuna tuna' was getting through! The counter marked 'Customer Service" had a nice enough kid who could only help me if I wanted to but a lottery ticket & asking if he could look up a product brought a shrug of the shoulders indicating he had no idea how! NEVER in my almost 70 years have I felt so unappreciated as a customer in a grocery store! I realize that many have no idea about the constantly increasing # of animal free or plant based products on the market but to not even know or understand the term 'vegan' in the food business seems truly incredulous! Surely this is a lesson in S&S paying a 'decent wage' so that their employees are an asset to the store instead of simply 'place holders' not giving a __*^$#$%__ about the needs of the customers! It's no wonder that the no frills grocery stores are taking over LI! 'Best Yet' was a no frill store that couldn't hold the market even w'great prices & now they are gone. Fairway catered to a 'gourmet/organic/natural/ crowd' but w'better prices than Whole Foods & they are gone. My guess is S&S is next as they are becoming 'high priced' no frills! Amazon & German groceries are taking over Long Island & it will soon be impossible to shop 'local'! Perhaps I am a more 'discriminating' shopper but I have succeeded in NOT contributing to the Amazon 'takeover' of every area of commerce till this point but it seems like I won't be able to much longer!!! read more

The best thing about Stop & Shop is that they use customer hand held scanners. You scan your products as you put them in the cart then at checkout it is a breeze, Instead of them scanning each item they scan the scanner and all the items in your cart come up instantly. I was in a baking mood this past weekend, mostly because I was stuck on Long Island and had nothing better to do. So I whipped up a new recipe in my head, wrote down a list of ingredients and headed to Stop & Shop for what I needed. While this location is large and well-lit, it is not well-stocked and the staff doesn't know what is considered dairy and what is not. I searched up and down the milk aisles (yes, they have more than one) and was failing to find buttermilk. So I made my way to the front, where the information desk is located. I thought, "Great! Someone to help me out!". I asked the man behind the counter if they had buttermilk and he said he would call some other department (I assumed it would be the DAIRY department) and find out. Two minutes later, another employee stopped by the desk and he was from the bread department. I was ready to hit my head against the counter at this point. The man that originally helped me then said to himself, "Oh yeah, buttermilk IS dairy.". Finally the dairy department called the desk and instructed him where it was. He ran to the back and retrieved a bottle for me. Yeah, it wasn't even displayed. They did have everything else I needed, I will give them that, however, how does your own staff not even know the difference between dairy and bread? read more

The meat and seafood section in this store is incredibly large. They carry a great selection on many products. Those scanners have really made the shopping experience go quicker. I LOVE having access to those. The produce here tends to be okay, though you will still want to check items carefully before selecting them for purchase. Selection here is definitely better than in my neighborhood and sometimes, you'll see people fundraising outside. If it's Girl Scout cookie time on a weekend afternoon, chances are you'll be able to buy some boxes. read more

I like this stop and shop the best. Very neat and organized. My only complaint is the self checkout. I've never worked anywhere with self checkout but in my opinion, you have employees just standing there watching you scan your items with everything piling up at the end and they don't even help you bag your items. One lady was just standing there reading! I had to get her attention out of the magazine for her help when the scanner stopped working and she seemed like I was bothering her. Mind you, this was 8 AM and the store was still empty. And this isn't the first occasion. What are these people getting paid for? Just to stand and watch you do their job?? NASTY-DISGUSTING-RIPOOF-SCAMMERS- This location in Levittown NY Hempstead. Buyer BEWARE If you intend on purchasing any food from here it is GUARANTEED not to be fresh and not what you ordered especially from the deli department. A few times I ordered cold cuts and I always ask for Boars Head brand NEVER anything else. These fools will slice the cheapest cheese or any other cold cuts meats and print out Boars Head Brand but, it was their GARBAGE brand that taste like fake cheese and or meat. Besides that, a few times I had to return these items because I can tell it was not Boars Head Brand but guess what I paid top dollar for Boars Head and got ripped off because they gave me penny cheese NASTY-Disgusting this place should be investigated for purposely misleading the customers with the bait and switch telling and showing you, they are cutting Boars Head but switching it out for shit that was sitting in the fridge they cut last week that did not sell. Even when you order and pick it up you are getting Left over garbage. Same thing with bakery goods hard Italian bread they claim is made fresh every day nasty hard like a rock. Keep away from this place they look to screw the customer and save every penny and short the customer with misleading information and products. this is my frequent store, I'm there usually every week. I've talked to the managers about the conditions of the mens bathrooms before. i work with and assist specialist needs clients and occasionally they need to use the bathroom. however it's completely unacceptable. The floor is always covered in water (or worse). I've seen truck stop bathrooms in better condition. the smell is unreal, and everything is broken or out of service. They need to accommodate the people that bring their store business and the employees that work there by providing them with a working and sanitary bathroom. Lately the deli department lines have been insane as they seem To be struggling to keep staff. You see employees in that department one day and then never again. I shop here mostly to get food last minute after a workout. My girlfriend and I get the same items almost every time and we always go to self check out. There's this older women who always works it and will literally stare us down the entire time and one time she asked if my bang energy drink was from the store or not. She literally stares us down each time and will go out of her way to make sure we aren't stealing. You would think after seeing us for the 20th time in a month you would see we aren't stealing and you don't even sell the energy drinks we have in our hands. 3/5 stars for the great store and set up, just wish Betty white wouldn't stare us down each every time. read more

This is an update on my 5 star review , the low rating this time being no refection on the considerate , ever pleasant kids who usually work the Customer Service desk and other venues here . I only come here once a week , primarily to shop for item priced fruit ( mangoes , grapefruit , bulk oranges ...) and perhaps once a month for frozen . For several years we used North Shore Stop and Shops after hikes ( Target Rock , Sagamore Hill , etc. ) , but having found the kids here incredibly accommodating , started looking forward to a quick stop here ....... Now , I had wondered why the Yelp rating was so mediocre , and why a rather morose , mirthless , sixtyish entity always hovered around the CS window in an apparent management position ( a position invariably held by cheerful young people at most supermarkets ) ; I FOUND OUT TONIGHT . I did my usual simple shopping between 8:30 and 8:45 , and the kid at the CS window, someone I didn't recognize , insisted I lay out all my fruit on the counter ( when was the last time they cleaned it ? ) . The rather forlorn sixtyish woman kept clocking me , and when I went to a regular checkout , she consulted with the young cashier about me ( at 66 , I've better things to do than steal mangoes ! ) . This entity overode the cashier , insisting I lay the fruit on the conveyor , which I refused to do . She at first insisted that I has 5 grapefruit in the bag I hung in front of her nose , until I twirled it around repeatedly until it was clear that there were only 4 ( I'm not kidding , folks ) . Displaying the bag of mangoes was slightly less dramatic ; I assured her I had 7 and not 6 ; that seemed to satisfy her .......... After this grossly insulting behavior , my weekly shopping here will be limited to monthly , and only household items that won't go in my fridg . As to why such a person works the night shift at a supermarket at her age ..... Well , with such personal skills , who else would employ her ? She can now feel important for an evening......... read more

How has no one reviewed this yet!? This is the best Stop & Shop in the area. Bright, clean, newly remodeled, wide open isles. The natural food section in this store is incredibly large. They carry all the Morningstar, Quorn & Annies products. They also have a huge milk substitute section including soy, coconut & almond milk in every variety. The produce section is large with produce experts constantly walking around. The deli is always overstaffed and you can even enter in your order on a computer to be picked up later. If you don't already have one, sign up for a Stop & Shop reward card. If you are a reusable bag freak (like myself) you are going to love this. Upon entering the store you can scan your card and receive a bar code scanner that you can use to personally scan your items. That means you can pack your bags as you're shopping which really expedites the whole check out process. As you walk around the store the bar code scanner gun with beep with sales and specials, some which are only for barcode gun users. Once you are ready to check out you go to one of the self check out registers scan your card, your barcode gun and then, voila! Your order loads onto the register. And a bonus, all carts have cup holders and scanner gun holders. :) read more

He is a short man who was bagging at the checkout line. he noticed I had an item that was buy 1 get 2 free and I only had 1 extra package. Very sneaky management in this store. They seldom have anything that's been put on sale in one of their weekly circulars and then you wind up having to buy a more expensive alternate. They also renovated the store a few years ago and for a short time, the store was clean and orderly. But it's been going steadily downhill since and now it looks like just about any other mediocre supermarket around here. Everybody there is very respectful and very nice and i always got the answers to my questions. There many young girls working there and i was helped many times by Anisah. This is a nice little stop and shop. I have been patronizing this location for well over 10 years. This one seems on top of there game, but I am feeling they could be due for some type of face lift. The help seems the the to me all this time, but they are friendly and helpful. Also compared to other supermarkets they usually have stuff in stock, as well as alot of varieties. The other big plus, compared to the target they are next to, their frozen items don't have freezer burn! Big a plus there! Great Stop and Shop location, and I say this mainly because of the hand scanners which let you scan your own groceries.

Ok so during the beginning of Covid I went shopping and bought a container of Tri-Color Tomatoes got home open the package and they were rotting at the bottom so I brought it right back. Matt the manager tried to tell me because of the Pandemic the store is not responsible for selling a bad product. Move on to today I purchase so many cases of seltzer, water, and beverages to the tune of 40.00 in returns a month and so I want to return the bottles that I paid the deposit on and its no big deal its a loan anyway because I am going to Purchase more anyway and because the tickets print in 5.00 Increments they wouldn't let me cash the ticket in because it was $3.00 Over. So Matt states this is a law and it is NOT. Hey Matt learn what a law is, You wouldn't know where to find it and who wrote the GUIDE LINE with two hands and a flash light. Have been shopping here for years, never had much of an issue. Always do the self scanner checkout which is great. But my review today is more on the employees. Last night i visited this location to do my normal weekly grocery shopping with my boyfriend. I went to the yogurt section, and an employee was stocking the shelves. When i turned around from the shelf, to my suprise I slipped and fell and had yogurt or something, all over my pants. I called to my boyfriend who immediatly came to my aid, and yelled to the worker "ARE YOU GOING TO HELP!" and all the worker had to say was "IT WASN'T ME!" what kind of answer is that? obviously it was his fault, as he was stocking the yogurt---he did not even flinch to help me up. I SHOULD have made a HUGE deal about it and called the manager, or better yet an ambulence. I will NEVER go to this location again and just shows what CRAPPY workers they have there. read more
