The view from the dining areas is gorgeous, with a wonderful vista view to the South overlooking the town. As this was a banquet reception, I also got a chance to sample some of the offerings that the club has. There were some wraps that were quite nice, and the beef and barley soup was excellent. However, I can't really say very much about the pasta salad. I have never been a fan of it, and every time I have ever had it my reaction has always been "Meh". The dessert of a chocolate mousse was quite nice though! All in all, the reception was nice, the food was decent, and the view was great. Would definitely go again in the future.

The lunch was set up as a buffet with soup, salad, fruit, sandwich wraps and a cookie/brownie tray. The salad and fruit was good. I did not try the soup because it appeared to have pork in it and I dont eat pork. I did not care for the sandwich wraps because they did not have a good option for people who dont eat mayo or pork. The one I chose was chicken with cheese, spinach & red peppers. However, i was disappointed when i bit into it and it had some sort of mayo dressing all over the spinach and red onions which I do not eat.i ended up taking it apart to eat just the chicken & cheese but there was not much chicken in it at all. The views were pretty and the club was ok. Not a fancy place but very respectable and the restrooms were clean. Overall, it was a-ok.

B and D Acres is an idyllic rural venue with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The…read morebarn and brand-new events building are situated on the owners' expansive acreage, adjacent to their home. Perhaps because of the proximity to their house, the owners are (understandably) protective of the use of their facilities--into which they've poured a ton of time and money improving. This spring, our school held prom at B and D for the first time. Without exception, guests and staff proclaimed it a tremendous success. The owners were absolute dolls, fantastic to work with! They couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend B and D Acres to anyone in search of a top-notch venue for their special event!! (If you're planning a drunken blowout, however, you may want to hold it elsewhere.) P.S. In my opinion, the two outdoor farm cats I saw only added to the charming atmosphere!

On Wednesday we were allowed to show up and decorate for "Sara's" wedding for Friday. When we arrive, we were informed that there are.13 barn cats... very beautiful but not allowed in the barn... Ok! We spent 9 hours of cleaning, sweeping and setting up while trying to keep out 13 cats!!!.. The dressing room for the bride and her maids still smelled strongly of cat pee so they didnt feel comfortable leaving the dresses there in fear of the dresses picking up the stench as well. Ok, now let's talk about cat poop . 13 cats and counting. The gravel and grass were gross. Well endowed tom cats (broken tale) and very pregnant females all in view. TNR is not practiced!!!! If you're a RESPONSIBLE pet/cat person then you already know what Im saying . Well now... here's where this place really soured my opinion... The maid of honor opened a bottle of Champaign for the bride and her maids while they where dressing... That's when shit hit the fan... I don't know what was said exactly but bottom line was this..... the owners daughter said they broke the rules and cuz the maid of honor wouldn't allow her to take the bottle of Champaign , she had to leave the property. This was the maid of honor/sister of the bride!!! ARE YOU KIDDING??!!!! She said no hard liquor. . Lmao!! RAMP certification would be helpful here!!! Champain is a wine, not a liqure. Then she said maid of honor had to leave b'cuz of how she treated her... (Not letting her just take the bottle). I wouldn't allow that either!!!. Long story short, bride and maid of honor/ sister were in tears, and a very happy narcissistic owner eating, drinking and and patroling the entire event inside and out. I heard the owner complain to her husband that she had to break up a parking lot party. WHAT!!!???REALLY??? Did we not pay for a private venue? Why would the owner even be there? My niece is heartbroken. Never will I ever recommend this place to anyone!

Inside the home I found the owner very accommodating upon arrival. Our rooms were very lovely, larger and very much more quieter than a motel/hotel. Very, very clean rooms with A/C , baths with showers and some toiletries available in the rooms if needed. My wife brought her hair dryer as there wasn't one in the room. There may have been one upon request if I had a need. Internet worked fine throughout home. Verizon cell worked well with great reception and data speeds. On Sunday morning I ventured out for a walk around the town. Home located in the historical district. All homes within several blocks designated as such and beautiful architecturally. Downtown area had several retail outlets, mostly women's clothing and inviting pubs and small diners. I highly recommend this location and the only draw back I could see is if you had a mobility issue all rooms are located up stairs. Enjoy.

Loved talking with the owner-was very well versed of the history of the home. The bed was very comfortable and the room was large but private. Let's take a pause and talk about the breakfast- WOW!!! I came down to a fresh fruit bowl. That was just the start. The owner made me a French press coffee and also brought out warm steel cut oats. She also provided a nice slice of turkey with a wonderful slice of cheese. Plenty!!! I was offered toast and bacon which I did not need but was lovely to have the option. Loved talking to the owner. She was so sweet and very informative about the location. The house was well appointed for the era represented. The bed was so comfortable. Best bed ever- compared to a hotel. I would stay here again as restaurants are within walking distance and the airport was very close.

Sticking with a solid 3, after a year of "renovations" I guess I had expected more to be done to…read morethe hotel, or at least have the pool open. We stay here yearly for a convention and as always I love the location to the convention center, ease of parking and friendly staff. We arrived a bit late this year right at 3pm for check in and were met with a line and some flustered staff. They got to us quickly and we were in our room after a short wait. I think we had a started room remodel. Floors and decor were fine but the furniture, esp the dresser/fridge area was very worn with broken wood splinters galore when you opened it. We also had a broken desk chair and broken/faulty towel rack. The free breakfast is again a nice perk and they kept up pretty well with the crowd this year. We did notice one of the waffle makers broke, as in the timer stopped working, but time that on your phone and its fine. Offerings were the same as last year, eggs, sausage, potatoes, the staples. Parking was at a premium this year due to the freak polar vortex snow the area got. A lot of the parking was taken up by huge snow piles making spaces harder to find or use the "I think this is a spot?" and try to not block anyone in or get towed. No guarantee a spot would be there later. I heard the garage deck was also a mess. I still love the hotel and its location but a lack of updates/remodel after a year, broken/dated furniture and a closed pool area that is just used as storage is a bit of a let down. Follow that by mediocre plowing in the lots and it just made this year average. Nothing really stood out but nothing was overly bad.

The Country Inn & Suites is the former Courtyard that's attached to the Blair County Convention…read moreCenter. It is currently just starting its full transition to the Country Inn & Suites flag, so as of this review, not many major changes have been made, but badly needed major renovations are planned for all parts of this hotel. There is a decent amount of parking unless a major event is occurring, but even then, you can use the convention centers main parking lot. Lobby area is nice and has a small convenience store with various items. The restaurant in the lobby has been replaced by the free hot breakfast, which consisted of eggs, sausage, potatoes, a waffle maker, yogurt, fruit, and various baked items. It was fine for a free hot breakfast, but they were having trouble keeping up with the volume needed due to the event I was attendings size. The pool remains closed. The rooms here will benefit the most from major renovations as they are outdated. Our room this year was better then previous years as we were on the first floor, which was convenient. Rooms do show wear and tear for the most part, and the TVs are small compared to more modern hotels. Sinks are located outside of the bathroom, and our shower had good water pressure with hot water all weekend. Overall, I'm looking forward to returning here when the renovations are complete to see the results. It is a little small for an attached convention center hotel, but there's not much that can be done due to the space available.
