This is my return to HVF Just came from an after wedding…read moreparty for 100 people and it was out of a story book. SPECTACULAR! Beautiful horses and the scenery..to die for! The Barns were decorated with twinkling white lights and the stage was jumping with the sounds of "the girls in black hats". The Farm has a 5 star bed and breakfast for $125/night!! We went on hay rides and rode horses and ate like a feast from the romans! The hospiality and atmosphere has me still daydreaming I am there. A definite recomemdation for any gathering!

I had the great pleasure of visiting HVF for an event called "A Celebration of the Paso Fino…read moreHorse." It was incredible to see demos of this gaited breed that has its origins in Puerto Rico and Colombia to be shown in their splendor right here in the Northeast. The farm has impeccable stalls for horses, a huge indoor show arena with skyklights, an outdoor arena and round pen, all with glorious views of the open rolling hills of the "Laurel Highlands." I can't wait to go back to stay at the elegant but reasonably priced bed and breakfast right on the premises. The day I was there, I noticed they were setting up for a private event, a birthday luncheon on the deck of the guest house with a top chef, live Spanish guitar, and roses on the tables, it looked fabulous, and so romantic. The ideal cozy getaway spot for R & R, or as an event space or party space, HVF makes you appreciate the beauty of the country. Horses + hospitality, a winning combination, with views as far as the eye can see!!

It manages to be quaint and inviting, but absolutely stunning at the same time. The food was wonderful, the scones were honestly the best scones I've ever had and they make everything on site! Not to mention the presentation, the tiered serving trays? The different pieces of vintage china settings? The crystal goblets? Omg, take me back to the days of dreaming of having a tea party like this! My inner child is jumping up and down! This venue is small, but the perfect size for a more intimate gathering, my party was 22 people and we fit just fine. The waitress was adept at explaining the tea flavors and describing what was on the serving trays as they were set down, and the owner, Sherry, was a joy to work with. Her friendly and professional demeanor helped assuage the stress of throwing an event, and her contracts were well drafted and easily understood. I can't wait to go back in my own time just for lunch and tea! Once again, I highly recommend this lovely tea room, whether it's for an event, a luncheon or a princess party, I will be telling all of my friends about it.

Tonight we are here for Jazz in your Face, and none of their dinner offerings are gluten free. When I asked if the chicken, at least, could be modified, the gal at the bar said no. But! She went and talked with someone, and they soon found me at my table and asked if I would like an herbed chicken cutlet with vegetables. It was so kind of them to go out of their way to make sure I had something to eat. Everything was scrumptious, and everyone was so nice! I learned that the lady was new - so she didn't know when I asked. But, she took the time to find out. I'm just one little person, but that is excellent customer service, and I appreciate it very much!

Decent size on the inside that allows for a variety of events to be held within. Decorations make the space look elegant. The dancefloor is a decent size. The bar area is capable of serving a multitude of drinks. The food was on point. Now, let's get into the nitty gritty of this place. Parking is atrocious. Yes, there is a parking lot adjacent to the building and some on street parking. Be mindful of the residents in the area, there are driveways that could be blocked. But also be mindful that Ace's management don't care if the parking lot for Ace's is being filled with vehicles that have an intention to go elsewhere in the neighborhood. If you bring this to their attention, the owner will tell you that they all work together in the neighborhood and that it's not a problem. Translation: not my problem, too bad your guests didn't show up earlier even though we were not open. The bathrooms inside are so small and cramped that you could and can get hit by the stall doors when you are using a urinal. Reminds you of a very old firehall. Or maybe a church hall with no windows. Guests were well behaved during the event. Mindful of the neighborhood. But the owner of the business makes assumptions that the guests "damaged" a planter outside by shoving a glass beer bottle into it, and took to their own personal Facebook page to blast the "wedding guests." Funny thing is, the bar area did not serve beer in bottles and alcohol outside is prohibited. But let's make assumptions to cover our insecurities. Since I seem to be focusing on management/owner here, let's go a little deeper. Be mindful of the card box if you have one for a wedding. I mean it was nice that they secured the box part way through the wedding, but did not let anyone know they did so. Then when you want to retrieve the card box the next day it is like pulling teeth. Or maybe the owner is keeping it as ransom for something. When attempting to reach the owner to set up a way to secure the box you get chastised that he does not read texts while he is out conducting business via the catering business. If that's how you run a business, let someone else do it. You are allowing your personality to shine through and it is not appealing to attract business. Also, be mindful that you are basically in charge of setup and clean up of your own event. And god forbid if you have multiple things going on that would make for multiple trips here. Yes, you did read that correctly, you are responsible for cleaning up after yourself directly after your event. Such a good practice for an event space. Also, keep receipts from this place. Write a check, keep the ledger updated. Receive an email, keep it. If you do happen to get a receipt, keep it. Also, make sure that you schedule around the owner's time as he doesn't seem to understand how life works and that people have jobs. Remember, keep those receipts because once you have paid off the fee, they will attempt to say you are short without proof, so save your proof. If you have a crap attitude and run your business short of a scam, maybe running a catering/event business is not for you. Or maybe you should take a course in personal relations and learn to at least be fake a smile and keep it to yourself like everyone else in the world has at your age.
