A week long stay, following an emergency dept visit, plus surgery. The upper level staff, I found,…read morewere pretty good. The nursing staff, admissions, and others, were very good to mediocre, and even dangerous. They are maxed. Full hospital and ER when I arrived. Fifteen hours from ER to get to a bed. They ignore alarms, call buttons, and are really harrowed as a nursing staff. They're poor communicators. They are rushed. Yes, there are excellent nursing staff (RN/LPN) and a few that don't have time, are not situationally aware, and at worst, deliver dangerous care. It's my guess that certain administrators and MBAs need to be sacked, and the quality of care revisited, as it is not endemic, it is not a goal, and it is not woven into what they do-- the professional staff excepted. If you can avoid going here for ER/ED treatment, go somewhere else. This place is screaming over-capacity, and terrible interdepartmental communications; this was my anecdotal experience. YMMV.

Once while I was there he rang for nurse to use bathroom nurse never showed he finally had to go in bed. I caught one of the nursing students told her she went got two more students they striped his bed gave him a bath and got clean cloths. They were great The nurse never came! The hospital might be new but it is not good. Gave instructions for him to never go there again. To go to the Bedford IU hospital it maybe smaller and older but he got great care there.

The Dietary department makes great meals and always offer me a smile when I visit. Activities always keeps the patients hopping as well. The staff is incredibly rude and unprofessional and I would be surprised if any of them actually have any experience or knowledge in nursing or rehabilitation. The building is in bad shape and looks filthy. Their "so-called" medical equipment includes old hospital beds that you have to turn a pedal in the front to put the patient in a sitting position, battery operated blood pressure devices that you put on the wrist (You can buy them in the pharmacy at your local CVS for about $15-$20) and an oxygen machine that looks like it was purchased at Goodwill. If you have a relative that needs medical care or rehabilitation, you would be better of sitting them in the middle of the street in front of the building then putting them into this nightmare. Again, take a visit and see for yourself. It will make you sick to your stomach that places like Bloomington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center are open for business.
