We were just passing back through Bryson City over the Fourth of July weekend after camping all week. We stopped to do laundry and figured we'd see if anyone had a campsite available. Another campground recommended we call Kirkland's, and we're so glad they did. Jason was one of the most welcoming and accommodating campground hosts we've ever met. He returned our call quickly, let us know he had a few sites available on a first-come, first-served basis, and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We weren't able to get a creekside site because we booked last minute, but honestly, that didn't matter. You can hear the beautiful creek throughout the campground, and the peaceful atmosphere is exactly what we had been looking for. One of the things we loved most was the location. It truly feels like you've driven 30 minutes into the mountains, away from everything, when in reality you're only about 12-15 minutes from downtown Bryson City, the grocery stores, and the local produce stand. It was the perfect balance of convenience and seclusion. The campground is spotless, with clean bathhouses, laundry facilities, water and electric hookups, firewood, ice, and even a trout pond where you can fish. The sites felt private despite the campground's cozy size, and the mountain views peeking through the trees made it even more special. Jason was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and gave us fantastic recommendations, including where to enjoy a safe and relaxing tubing trip. That local advice made a huge difference in our visit. We also loved meeting the campground's sweet dog and friendly cat--they added even more charm to an already wonderful place. If you're looking for a campground that's quiet, peaceful, welcoming, and genuinely cared for, this is it. We left feeling like we'd found a home away from home. There is dog run, a laundrymat, a little store with a free library. You can go down to the creek where guests have access. The water is city water unlike other campgrounds near by who have really bad well water. A plus is also that we have super 5G reception here for our internet router. The campground also has basic free internet to stay connected. The rates are reasonable especially the weekly and monthly rates if you want to stay a season. My experience is from the perspective of the one in charge of cooking and meals for our group. Our group had rented their kitchen space and because we don't live in the area we relied on them to adequately convey the facilities which were woefully misrepresented. BEFORE ARRIVAL: Called 1 week prior to confirm space and storage availability as I was bringing as much food with us as possible. I was informed that from my original call several months prior some refrigerators were no longer working and that they would double check. She further stated that there was a Boy Scout troop coming in and that we would need to share the kitchen space and fridge/freezers. ARRIVAL: We arrive from VA one hour prior to dinner needing to be prepared and served due to traffic and walked into this kitchen area to a disgusting kitchen and dining space. The sink was full of ants and completely clogged, half of the gas stovetop burners would not work and one oven was not functional. There was a layer of filth on everything in there. Our group went to cleaning immediately before we could even prepare food and notified the office of our problems. DURING: Room flooded Two replacement stoves One significant gas leak (where I lost some cognitive function temporarily) Prolific ants Deep freezer full of unlabeled random items that had barely any space available. ..and my home for a week #20 RV...the trailer was cleanish but dilapidated, rusty and had no functioning outdoor lighting. The view off the deck was nice. I will never return or recommend this place to anyone. Ever. Ever.

Owner was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Been here over 35 years. Mountain and creek views were spectacular. Easy access to the creek even if you don't score a creek side spot.

It's 5:30 in the evening so I feed her and put her on her 12' leash. I will show pictures. Picked up one pile of poop Really Brian was that necessary. Especially when his dog is never on a leash. The creek is beautiful, and falling asleep to the sound of the water was a highlight. The staff was accommodating and allowed us to switch to an RV site so we could park next to our tent, which we appreciated. Looking back, I wish we'd asked more questions because the covered tent sites looked much more private and would have been a better fit for us. This is a great campground for families, groups, and anyone wanting to enjoy tubing. The bathhouses were clean, and the camp store had everything we could have needed. The tubing was a lot of fun, though the creek is shallow and rocky in places, so expect a few bumps along the way! If you're looking for a lively campground with plenty of activities, I highly recommend it. If your goal is total peace and seclusion, you may want to look at some of the quieter campgrounds nearby. Overall, we had a great stay and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the Bryson City area.

There is a beautiful rushing creek. And the dog park is the largest and cleanest one I have ever encountered at a campground (we are full time). There is also a "hike" up the mountain on a gravel road. It's a brutal workout. And it ends with a dead end rather than a beautiful lookout so, don't take it unless you want the exercise and are ready for a steady, steep climb all the way up. It's about a mile long. There are no bathrooms or laundry facilities so, this is a place for folks who are fully contained.
