There's a woodsy area with some worn trails, most likely for biking. There's a wooden lift bridge that crosses the river to Fargo. The playground is HUGE with something for every age group. There are interesting structures that I haven't seen at other playgrounds, and it's great imagination fuel for the kiddos. I also love that this playground is more accessible - there are structures for those in wheelchairs or limited mobility. The pathways through the park are also wheelchair accessible. I think the accessibility of the structures depends on individual needs. Extra bonus - lots of FREE parking.

We went on an evening cruise and decided to try and explore a little bit, and ended up at Lions Conservancy Park, which is only a mile or two from our neighborhood. What I didn't realize about this park, though, is that they have some amazing mountain biking paths. It was so much fun! Lions Conservancy backs up to the Red River, and the bike path goes right along the river so it's hilly and woody and so cool. There's another path on the other side of the river in nearby Iwen park. The path is also super user friendly. At the beginning there's a map of it, and even a QR code you can scan to access the map electronically, and boy is it helpful. There's also constant markers on the path so you know you're still going the right way. For those who are more seasoned with mountain biking (ie: not me), there's some built in jumps and fun challenges. I stayed way clear of those, because just trying to make it along the path was plenty enough for me. It's about a mile total and it really gets you sweating. So besides the beautiful paths, there's really not a lot more to Lions Conservancy. You can sort of see the river from the parking lot. You can't walk far without being swarmed by bugs and other. But what a beautiful and delightful little path! Certainly not for the faint of heart but all the better when you complete it!

The only part that truly made this experience worth while is the church. The church was awesome and I would go again just to see the interior of the church. Its history is awesome and it smells wonderful inside. Just looking at the outside of the church isn't good enough.

I'd give the North park (#1) the top spot for sure. This one would come in a close second. There's a regular old playground, the big long walking/ running path that passes the park, and even a small frolf course. The thing I found the coolest about the middle park, though, is that there is a "bike repair" station-- literally a little post that has wrenches, a tire pump, and all kind of other tools and gadgets to fix any kind of issue your bike may have, all free of charge. Pretty neat if you ask me!

We are on a quest to visit every state park in MN and enjoyed this one. We did the prairie view…read moretrail which takes you on a three mile loop around the river. The untouched prairie provided lots of colorful flowers and other greenery. We enjoyed using our Merlin app to listen and identify all the many birds in the area. The lookout point to see the winding river from above was a nice shady sidetrack. Bugs weren't much of an issue but being a prairie, there was a significant amount of the trail in the sun. Wear a hat. We stopped in the ranger office to see if they had postcards (alas, no) but the staff was super helpful and they had maps if you need them. Great stop!

We've camped in around 75 campgrounds in the past 5 years and this took the most leveling effort of any. For a city park with utilities easily available, they could do better. If you are smaller and need 30 amp, you are down by the river. I heard those sites are very unlevel but I did not go down to see as we were in the 50 amp area. We stayed one night. The staff was helpful as there was a huge mud puddle outside our door and they gave us boards so we could get in and out of our coach. Not many choices near Fargo. This is a very nice park but not really a campground for big rigs.
