Stonebridge (#1) is one of the best parks in Fargo, in my opinion. And no, I am not any part biased…read morebecause I live right along the park (is that telling too much? haha).. You can decide whether I'm bluffing or not. To clarify, I guess this is Stonebridge #1 Park, because there is also a Stonebridge #2 Park and for some reason they couldn't give them separate names? But this is an extremely popular park, so it's not just me glamorizing it. If you go to the park or drive past on any remotely nice day past 4pm, you will see DOZENS of people there. Just on the basketball court alone there are so many people hooping it, sometimes it stills boggles my mind because it doesn't seem like the park should be able to fit that many people. A few years ago Stonebridge #1's playground was completely torn out and renovated, and it is way awesomer now (it's a word don't even question it). Super clean equipment and fun stuff for all ages! Even as a fully grown adult I can't help but love their zipline ride or the swing sets. The regular swings are quite high up too, so you get a better swing once you get going, and there's even a double swing. Not only can you play around at the park, but there's also a nice gazebo and lots of picnic tables spread out around the grass, with built in grills nearby most of them. Tons of families go there in the evenings and have meals, and even family reunions. It's really sweet. And connected to the playground, basketball court and grill out areas is a ginormous field- there are soccer goals, a running path along the side, and all the room to do whatever your heart contents outside. There's often soccer practices held there, family and friends playing a game of football, people working out or other. My high school even hosts their annual Powderpuff football games on the field. Stonebridge #1 is a fantastic park, and don't you forget it (or get it mixed up with Stonebridge #2)!

Brunsdale Park is a large, spacious, interactive and really wonderful Fargo park! It's the perfect…read moreplace to run, walk or bike along the windings paths, to enjoy the playground, sit and picnic, play soccer or other games, and so much more. Though I am partial (and totally unbiased) for Stonebridge #1 for Fargo Parks, Brunsdale really gives some stiff competition. It's like a mondo-sized park- there's several soccer fields lengths of just open grass. There's a running path that goes along the park for at least a mile and always winds around. It also has an underpass under the busy 32nd Street that's touching the south side of the park, so you don't have to worry about crossing traffic. The playground is fun because it has a lot of goofy, less common play equipment that looks like an absolute hay day for a kid. There's an adorable gazebo to sit at and even a little bridge across the tiniest valley. I recently discovered there are pickle ball courts here that are super clean, and Brunsdale also includes Brunsdale Baseball Park, which I've gone to on numerous occasions to play myself (softball) and watch others. They have a concession at times, and bathrooms. Another new addition is the interactive storywalk along the running path that has signs telling kids to do different things and it's so sweet and good fun. It would take a long time to get tired of this park with all there is to do!

Lindenwood is, as parks go, a pretty good one. Pros: You can see beaver along the river in summer…read more(most easily seen at the docks near the water treatment facility) and deer on either side of the river at various times of year. Ducks are common on the river, sometimes there are turkey and my dog and I once saw a mink, which apparently, is more fabulous than seeing squirrels. The walking path connects the campground with downtown and it is a pleasant walk. There is a large playground near the campground with public toilets and a water fountain for people and dogs. Cons: Although the park is open year 'round, the public toilets are locked for at least half of the year. So if you find yourself with a sudden urgent need, you might be in a spot of bother. There are no public restrooms in proximity to the unfortunately frequently locked toilet doors. There are some mosquitos in the park which will find you if you stand long in one place. Or if you do that thing where you put a beer in a travel coffee mug and go for a walk after work- we know who you are and the mosquitoes do too. There is NO wifi and NO climate control in this park. Expect temperatures to vary wildly between -40*F to 95*F at various times of the year in Lindenwood. There may even be snow, or rain and occasionally, the park may be under water and the animals seem to like it that way. Consider yourself fairly warned.

I didn't come to the realization before that there are so many darn parks here, and a lot of them are really pretty nice! Fun fact: the Fargo Parks website states that there are more than 150 parks just in Fargo! I mean, like what?!? Why do you even need that many parks for a place that's drowning in snow 3/4 of the year, and why would any other place need that many anyways unless it's a place with hundreds of thousands of people? Yeah, I don't have an answer either. Questions aside, Fargo has way too many parks, and as I've been spending more time outside biking and running it's been quite fun to explore them a little more. Out of 150+ parks, there are 3 that are all along the same path and called Milwaukee Trail Mini Parks, because the trail they lie along is the Milwaukee Trail (this is where you say, well duh!) So, this is park #1, also called Milkwaukee Trail North Park, because it's the furthest north park of the 3. Ever heard of an outdoor gym or a park gym? Well, that's what this place is! They have lifting machines at the park so you can get an outdoor workout in- very cool!! Definitely wouldn't guess Fargo would have one of those so it was definitely a pleasant discovery while out and about. There is some grassy space to do whatever you please, picnic tables, and of course a playground as well. I'd say this is the biggest and easily nicest park of the 3 Milwaukee's.

The best memories are those stumbled upon by accident! Just like the discovery of this bike path/…read morepark for me and my lovely momma. We went on an evening cruise and decided to try and explore a little bit, and ended up at Lions Conservancy Park, which is only a mile or two from our neighborhood. What I didn't realize about this park, though, is that they have some amazing mountain biking paths. It was so much fun! Lions Conservancy backs up to the Red River, and the bike path goes right along the river so it's hilly and woody and so cool. There's another path on the other side of the river in nearby Iwen park. The path is also super user friendly. At the beginning there's a map of it, and even a QR code you can scan to access the map electronically, and boy is it helpful. There's also constant markers on the path so you know you're still going the right way. For those who are more seasoned with mountain biking (ie: not me), there's some built in jumps and fun challenges. I stayed way clear of those, because just trying to make it along the path was plenty enough for me. It's about a mile total and it really gets you sweating. So besides the beautiful paths, there's really not a lot more to Lions Conservancy. You can sort of see the river from the parking lot. You can't walk far without being swarmed by bugs and other. But what a beautiful and delightful little path! Certainly not for the faint of heart but all the better when you complete it!

I'd give the North park (#1) the top spot for sure. This one would come in a close second. There's a regular old playground, the big long walking/ running path that passes the park, and even a small frolf course. The thing I found the coolest about the middle park, though, is that there is a "bike repair" station-- literally a little post that has wrenches, a tire pump, and all kind of other tools and gadgets to fix any kind of issue your bike may have, all free of charge. Pretty neat if you ask me!

Last but not least, the Milwaukee Trail South Park, or Milwaukee Trail Mini Park. Are you tired of…read morereading Milwaukee Trail yet? Cuz I am, lol. This definitely sweeps the bottom of the board for the Milwaukee Trail parks. It's easily (and probably often) forgotten. It's small, and there's not much besides kind of a classic and dinky little playground set. As the name would suggest, it's the furthest south park, and it's precisely right next to Discovery Middle School where there's a much larger playground, as well as basketball courts, baseball & softball fields and much more. Basically, with that literally right nearby I have no idea why you'd ever come to Milwaukee South park. I mean hey, a parks a park but this one certainly ain't anything special.

The staff were friendly and the zoo was very clean. I'm from California so I'm used to massive zoos but this one was quant and perfect for a quick visit. It looks like they have a ton of kid activities so that would be something to look into.
