The best memories are those stumbled upon by accident! Just like the discovery of this bike path/ park for me and my lovely momma. We went on an evening cruise and decided to try and explore a little bit, and ended up at Lions Conservancy Park, which is only a mile or two from our neighborhood.
What I didn't realize about this park, though, is that they have some amazing mountain biking paths. It was so much fun! Lions Conservancy backs up to the Red River, and the bike path goes right along the river so it's hilly and woody and so cool. There's another path on the other side of the river in nearby Iwen park.
The path is also super user friendly. At the beginning there's a map of it, and even a QR code you can scan to access the map electronically, and boy is it helpful. There's also constant markers on the path so you know you're still going the right way. For those who are more seasoned with mountain biking (ie: not me), there's some built in jumps and fun challenges. I stayed way clear of those, because just trying to make it along the path was plenty enough for me. It's about a mile total and it really gets you sweating.
So besides the beautiful paths, there's really not a lot more to Lions Conservancy. You can sort of see the river from the parking lot. You can't walk far without being swarmed by bugs and other. But what a beautiful and delightful little path! Certainly not for the faint of heart but all the better when you complete it! read more
