They are truly here to provide you with a service that suits your needs, not tricking you into spending more money. I want to offer a HUGE shout out to Lauren, my dental hygienist, who offered exceptional service to me. She offered great conversation, comforting add ons like a blanket and water, and a great cleaning. I asked her to look at a spot on the front of my teeth that has been causing me confidence issues and she buffed it right out. I can go back to sporting a full smile again! I am SO thankful to here and the amazing staff at Sonterra dental!

We've had cavities (1) filled, teeth extracted, and two wisdom teeth removals along with 6 month cleanings since 2014. Dr. Tapangan is still amazing as a provider and person. Our dental hygienists, Lauren, Pam, Svitlana, and Sydney are always professional, thorough, and personable. Dr. Woolwine and Dr. Tapangan have the BEST bedside manner of any medical professionals I've been around. I trust them completely to care for my children because of how efficient, informative, and careful they are. This practice sets the standard of dental and medical care. I have and will continue to refer my friends to this practice.

I was shocked because I never was told anything about having gum disease before from other dentists--it didn't make sense how I went from normal gums to 'gum disease' all of a sudden. After that appointment-- in a panic--I contacted a very close friend whose husband was a dentist and she was a dental hygienist. I sent her X-rays and she was confident--not only from the X-rays, but also from knowing me well--that I did not have gum disease. I then went to my husband's dentist for a consult and his dentist also said I do not have gum disease. I asked him about the cavity and he said it was not a cavity, just staining in a groove on my molar. (I guess it's safe to assume 'my first-ever cavity' was not a cavity either.) It was really shocking this happened by a licensed dentist. When i cancelled my next appointment, I expressed my disapproval of being told I needed treatment that I didn't, the lady on the phone seemed to not be surprised.

Yes, the FLOSS team runs a beautiful, state of the art office that is immaculately clean and comfortable. But what really keeps me coming back are the careful, attentive exams and gentle, through treatment I receive here. Every hygienist I have seen has gotten my teeth perfectly smooth and sparkly, and given me pointers on continually improving my at-home routine (without being judge-y or peachy). I particularly appreciate Dr. Forney's conservative, preventative approach to dental care--she is the most through, engaged dentist I have ever visited when conducting the check-up exam. She not only spends time carefully examining every nook and cranny of your mouth and (gently) checking for sensitivity, she also asks thoughtful questions and really listens to my answers. She seems to always be working proactively to spot potential issues and prevent them, before they become a big problem requiring painful or expensive treatment. For example, I was experiencing some painless popping in my jaw when opening my mouth wide (like when chewing with my mouth very full). I almost didn't mention it because it wasn't causing me any discomfort, but when I said something in passing to Dr. Forney, she immediately recognized that I had worn away a lot of the cartilage in my jaw from grinding my teeth at night. She told me to start wearing my old night guard, which I had gotten lazy about, and this would allow the cartilage to regenerate. Sure enough--six months with the night guard--no more poppin! During another visit, Dr. Forney noticed what looked like a coffee stain on a previous sealant from another dentist, but asked if she could take a closer look by doing a little bit of drilling. I was skeptical, but I trust her, so I said "break out the drill!" Well, turns out that there was decay forming under the sealant from the previous dentist. Dr. Forney was able to do a small filling and nip this in the bud, just by spending a little extra time on the exam (and not assuming it was just a coffee stain). The idea that this could have become a big filling or worse keeps me coming back to Dr. Forney--and trusting her implicitly--every time. In short, Dr. Forney is a highly skilled, meticulous and incredibly through dentist, and the entire experience at Floss Stone Oak stands alone among general dentistry in San Antonio (I've moved to Austin and I still drive down just to come here!). They take insurance, but as someone who has at times had a HDHP and paid out of pocket, I can say it's also very reasonably priced, especially given the high standard of care. If you're still reading this, make an appointment already! Floss Stone Oak and Dr. Forney are the best!

Dr. Nistar combines thorough technical knowledge and professionalism with a welcoming, friendly manner that could set even the most nervous patient at ease. Moreover, she works with the finest precision that I have ever experienced. I have been to other dentists who installed fillings in a hurry and caused some misalignment with my bite; Dr. Nistar, on the other hand, took the time to make everything perfect. (Also, everyone who has had dental work knows that the delivery of the anaesthetic shots is the scariest/most painful part of the procedure, but Dr. Nistar has such a deft hand that I barely noticed them when they were being administered.) Dr. Nistar's staff members are also top-notch. Their friendly, comforting chairside manner is clearly not the result of artificial training, but a natural fitness for patient care. The schedule is superbly well-organized, and I have never been left waiting there; they provide detailed, individualized, genuinely sympathetic dental care, while simultaneously maintaining an industrious and efficient professional ethic which ensures that all patients feel that their time is valued. I had avoided going to the dentist for nearly a decade, and so I felt no small amount of trepidation when I finally scheduled an appointment, but I quickly realized that a great dental visit can be not just painless, but even enjoyable. I live nearly thirty minutes away, and there are countless dentists between my home and her office, but after experiencing such a high level of care, I would not even consider going anywhere else.

I loved this dentist, but I believe the actual dentist is getting ready to retire. My appointment was on Tuesday. I received a text from them stating that my hygienist had gone on 'VACATION ', and they didn't have anyone available to take me. They requested I call back to reschedule. I called on Monday, waited on hold for almost 15 minutes, and was told the next available date was in October. NOPE. I remembered seeing a new place opened up on TPC Pkwy, I received a flyer. Went online & scheduled my appointment for Tuesday. I got right in, friendly staff, great hygienist. I've read reviews slamming this dental company, but that was not my experience. They checked my insurance before I went in at my request. I dont mind that they used different people for different specialties. My old dentist did as well. The dentist came in and looked at all my teeth. I did need two crowns. But before you say they're ripping me off, they did show me where they were with a camera. I had already been told by my old dentist that these would need to be replaced at some point. These two teeth had cracks. Needless to say I scheduled my appointment, and I was back next Monday to start the process. The experience was good for what I had to do. Kayla called to check up on me. I'm looking forward to getting my new crowns! When you post, remember why you were looking for a dentist in the first place.

I had 2 root canals done & crowns put on in August of 2024 by Dr Nick Richards. By October 2024, my bottom crown popped out. 2 days before moving across the country, they got a new crown in. They once again did an awful job at fitting this new crown because fast forward to December 2024 & the same crown popped out AGAIN!!!!! Except this time I don't live anywhere near this dentist office not that I would want to go back to them WHAT-SO-EVER!!! Mind you that when I went to this dentist office for my dental emergencies the first time I apparently signed a 12 month contract stating that I must pay them X amount of money every month for my dental work, but here's the fucking thing my dental work sucks! in fact it's not even in my mouth at all currently. Where my tooth should be is a huge gaping hole because the filler that they put in my tooth after the root canal also popped out of my tooth ... except now like I stated before I'm still paying them monthly for malpractice, BS work... which I think is really unfair. So that's how they get you folks you'll sign off on something that you think is a good deal when in reality it'll just bite you in the butt .. and then you'll have more dental problems to deal with, with no money!!!!
