For the Stone Oak store in San Antonio, I can't speak to the products, but I can speak to the…read moreservice. It's mediocre, at best. We had been receiving private lessons and the instructor himself (Jorge) is great, the rest of the store is blah. Staff will generally not speak to you unless they have to. Management is non-existent. No voice mail, no email address, and the contact form only accepts a couple hundred characters. It's almost like they go out of their way to tell the client "We don't want to hear from you." Your lessons have an expiration date that they try to claim is to encourage people to stay current, which I don't buy. They also will charge you for about a month's worth of lessons at a time, so when you cancel, you're still on the hook for a bit longer. No business owner worth their salt accepts money for service they don't provide, or for poor service. Do better. We cancelled our private lessons and will drive past it to continue because of the apathetic service. Hard pass.

The customer service you receive in person is great but the one you receive over the phone is…read moreHORRIBLE. My family financed a flute from this company and for 3 years I never had a problem with my payments. When it came to MY LAST PAYMENT I needed a few days extension (due to an unforseen expense) and the company couldn't do that. There was only one card I could use for the payment and that resulted in me incurring an overdraft fee. Even though I have not work for 1 year I still made my payments on time and there was nothing that customer service could do for me. I had never asked for an extension the entire time I had "a contract" with them. When you call customer service it takes 30 mins - 3+ hours for a representative to pick up the call. When I called about getting an extension I had 2 representatives disconnect my call. DO NOT DO ANY FINANCING WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!

Correction to review to 5 stars as MACSA went above and beyond to make the situation right…read more My son had been attending MACSA over 2 years. Recently, he was in a car accident a couple days after the monthly draft. Due to his injuries, he is unable to complete his lessons for the indefinite future. MACSA has a two lesson cancellation policy, which is fine. However, we have paid for 4 lessons that he will be missing and he has no foreseeable way to make them up. They refuse to refund our money for the second two lessons based on their no refund policy. I think it's sad when a business puts their "policies" over people, especially in situations such these.

UPDATE: someone from Alamo Strings reached out to me to say the contracts are stored digitally and…read morethe originals are destroyed. Also that I can exit the contract with no penalty. I do believe at the store I was told the paper was securely kept at a different location and wasn't digital storage. I believe the person who contacted me about the digital storage is correct but that definitely wasn't fully explained. Also why can't I do it online if that is the case? I gave two additional stars on their review because of the quick outreach but still don't like giving my Social Security Number on top of all the other info. And have no idea why a third relative is necessary. Also if this was better explained at the point of sale it would have eased a lot of my frustration. ORIGINAL REVIEW This place is awful. We were sent there by my child's elementary school. It was the only choice we were given which makes it so much worse. They have very poor business practices. They require a social security number which they keep written down which is very poor security practice. Also they require spouses name address phone and an additional relative's name, address and phone. I understand checking my drivers license and keeping information including credit card on file but all of this is unreasonable. Further it definitely should not be kept on a single piece of paper. Further we are renting because my daughter has never played violin and she may hate it. But they require a 32 month contract! This is for fifth grade, yet the contract goes through the end of seventh grade. That is also not reasonable. The staff were also rude. When I complained and questioned these things I was told I could purchase the instrument out right if I didn't like it. Again this was the only option given to us by the school. The owner appeared on the parents meeting zoom call. If he is going to work directly with the school he should have better business practices.

I take extreme good care of my guitars and that scratch was not there when I dropped it off. As soon as I got home I played it for a while and there is a massive feedback. They made ir worse. Never coming back.

When we went to return it…read morethey wanted to charge us a 20% restocking fee which would of been fine but after an hour of them telling me they can only put $66 on the card and MAIL ME A CHECK they would not give me cash back AND charge me a 20% restocking fee on top of that I found ridiculous unethical and very poor poor customer service. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you go purchase you musical needs elsewhere. I have never in my life had this kind of treatment or had this done to me at any store ever in my life. They were obviously trying to force the sale on us prevent us from returning the item by making it as difficult as possible. I against my better judgement kept the guitar due to the lack of trust I felt. I honestly believed in my heart I would have never seen that check. Again DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PROPLE they obviously do not care about the customer. In response to your response, you'll refund the card that's fine but you will not refund cash because of some "theft" in the past. That's what safes are for. it isn't right to offer a check to be mailed to your customers for a cash purchase. THATS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE IN ANY BOOK!! And making it real difficult to return the item with full knowledge of what you were doing IS BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Offering a ridiculous solution to a problem knowing full well I wouldn't go for it and forcing the sale IS BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!! The fact you can't see that and hide behind some ridiculous reasoning IS BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! and like I'd trust you to mail a check. I never said your employee was bad It was your lack of management on the premises to help rectify the situation. The poor guy had to call everyone he could to try and get something done. It was management over the phone and you the owner OVER THE PHONE refusing to make it right in an acceptable manner. Cutting a check for a CASH PURCHASE IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR ANY BUSINESS and I have never had that happen to me ever anywhere. You're the first, congratulations!! (Clap clap clap) I'm sure even you wouldn't stand for it if that happened to you. It's not our problem (the customer) the things that happen in your store. You still need to run a business regardless of theft or anything that happens in the store and provide your customers a good, no correction a great shopping experience. You did not deliver on that. If you know you can't refund cash for a cash purchase that should be the first thing you tell a customer ESPECIALLY AFTER BEING DIRECTLY ASKED ABOUT YOUR RETURN POLICY!!! All your employee did was hand me a sheet stating the 48 hours and the 20% restocking fee. Nowhere on that sheet stated cash purchases will be refunded by mailed check. If that was on the sheet I wouldn't have done business with you. I said my peace you're wrong no matter how you try and justify it in your head. What was done WAS BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE and one of the reason brick-and-mortar stores are dying out. I will be reporting this situation to the BBB and I'll keep posting this review over and over to get the word out there, as is my right. Your employee was great if he reads this I find no fault in what you did. The fact you have only been there a few months running the store on your own is commendable. It was the lack of management on site to handle these situations that was bad and the unwillingness to rectify the problem in a ACCEPTABLE manner. And after reading MANY reviews it seems to be a reoccurring problem. These are pictures of your return policy nothing on there states cash purchase are issued by mailed check. If that is your policy it must be stated. So your 33 year policy statement is false. Nowhere on your sites return policy states anything you said. Now you're dishonest as well. Good job and thank you for that it helps. And by the way I'm the type of person that buys many guitars. if I was provided an acceptable solution to my problem I would of patronized your store for all my guitar needs.
