Nice views of Rottenwood creek along the Bob Callan Trail. You get to walk under 285 on the pathway, be sure to look for artwork near this area. Lots of bridges crossing the creek along the way. Clean and not too crowded. Folks of all ages on the trail. We go here about once a month and walk 5-6 miles including extra trails. Occasionally will take side trail into West Pallisades. Conveniently located and definitely worth a stop if you are an outdoors person.

They have baskets on the front of them to put your belongings in. The ladies room had Dial hand soap. The silver button on the wall is a hand dryer. Tissues inside stall. Not sure about the other ones or if they had a baby station at the big stall. My only concern was the doors being open to the bathrooms. The big trash cans had them propped open and I get it (due to "Covid") but I wanted some more privacy especially when this cute guy was standing by his bike literally across the bathroom door! And I was not going to move that big trash can. Only reason I rated this UPDATED review a 4 out of 5. Some of the trees limbs were hanging over the trails in certain parts. Causing a brief slow down during the trails busiest times on nice days. I went between 4:30-6p today. In addition to serving as the actual residence of the Governor and the First Family, it's also a lovely house museum, home to one of the country's finest collections of Federal period antique furniture, and the host of many free community events and celebrations. In short, it's a hidden treasure that more Georgians should know about and take advantage of. First, as a house museum, the Mansion is open for free public tours throughout the year on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. If your group is smaller than ten people, you can simply just show up. Yep, just drive straight up to that big gate on West Paces Ferry. If your group is a large one, simply call to make a reservation. The Mansion is usually closed for a period after Christmas to decorate for the holiday, but then opens up for additional hours during the month of December. And it's during Christmas that you definitely want to tour - the decorations are simply stunning, contributed by some of the top florists and interior designers in the state. The tour is mostly self guided, but there are volunteer docents stationed in each room. Some of them may not offer information, so make sure to come with questions, because once you get them talking, you will see that they are truly the carriers of this home's fabulous history. Many of them have been volunteering at the Mansion under several gubernatorial administrations, and the stories they have are fascinating. There are also several big events that take place at the Mansion each year that are free and open to the public. The Christmas Tree Lighting and the Easter Egg Hunt are my two favorites. Both are totally free, but the Easter Egg Hunt does require a reservation (yes, the kids actually get to hunt and take home eggs filled with treats!), so check the website in the spring for the date and reservation information. The Mansion is a treasure of this state and is truly the people's house, which makes it as good as it gets.

The building is kind of a landmark for the city of Atlanta and has been can be seen in postcards, t-shirts and other souvenirs. The Building was recently sold to Banyan Street Capital back in 2016 and underwent a extensive renovation just last year. The result? One of the most beautiful buildings in the country if not North America, esp at night. It's located adjacent to the Ritz Carlton and is home to businesses such as Deloitte, the Integral Group, Cooper Carry, the Woodruff Foundation and The Commerce Club. I'm not one hundred percent sure if this is the original or not (next to varsity downtown is another one). However you can walk around this one and get up close to it and is perfect for photo ops. Overall very cool and fun trip to this place. Me and my buddies had fun checking this out and the hank Aaron home run wall that is in the parking lot below this one.

There is not access to get up into it, at least when we were there. When we passed by the next day, it seemed some homeless people had slept on the grounds overnight and left their blankets. The Fifth Street Bridge connects Georgia Tech to Technology Square in Midtown. When Tech Square…read moreopened in 2003, the bridge was in dire need of renovation. About $10 million and 4 years later, the Fifth Street Bridge re-opened and is now one of the best-looking and most functional bridges in Atlanta. The bridge spans over 16 lanes of interstate (Downtown Connector), but you would never know it if you were walking on the bridge. It's not as big as its brothers (17th St, 14th St, and 10th St.) and it doesn't have direct interstate access. There are two lanes for vehicular traffic, one turning lane, two bike lanes, and two sidewalks on either side. Each of the sidewalks is about 25 spacious feet wide and is made of brick and concrete. These wide sidewalks match the ones found at Tech Square and make Fifth Street Bridge very pedestrian-friendly. The best thing about the bridge is the enormous amount of green space -- about 3/4 of an acre's worth. There is plenty of grassy lawn which stretches down either side of the bridge and, combined with the lamp posts, it feels very much like a park. The south side of the bridge has modern-looking trellises which are covered in lush green vines. They look great and provide a measure of shade. Another cool aesthetic to the bridge are the multiple planters installed with a variety of trees, bushes, shrubbery, and flowers. The planters are multi-tiered and come in an assortment of sizes. The plants and tall planters not only make the space beautiful and inviting, but also serve to dampen out the highway noise below. The landscaping design looks clean and the grass is typically well-groomed and maintained. During football season, the Fifth Street Bridge is naturally a popular place for Tech fans to tailgate. Events have also been held on the bridge, such as the annual Taste of Atlanta outdoor food festival. During Taste of Atlanta, the bridge is shut down. Cooking classes are held on the north lawn. Restaurants set up multiple tents up and down the bridge, cooking food and offering tastings.

Back in my days at Tech (at least the early ones), Fifth Street Bridge was a little nothing of a…read morebridge with two lanes of traffic, sidewalks, and chain link fence on either side to keep you from jumping off or throwing garbage into the traffic below. It led to a desperate landscape of parking lots scattered with prostitutes and their discards amongst which Tech used to have an off-campus parking lot... I unfortunately clear memories of driving across the bridge early in the morning to head north on the interstate and being horrified at how readily the goods were advertised. And then came Tech Square. Sure, the bridge looked a little awkward with bare metal structures and fresh plantings. But at least sod and organized plantings weren't trash, and every little bit helped. Now the bridge led to so many student dining choices and scattered the shadiness a few blocks over. As I sat on the bridge on a home game Saturday, shaded by the vegetation that has finally matured, it was nearly impossible to know that there were 12 lanes of traffic below. I was reminded that Atlanta might not be perfect, but it's improving as the jasmine grows in.

This piece is rather large and is a fan like shape with sculptors of bodies stuck in the middle and the arms and legs hanging out on each side. Not sure the exact correlation with the 1996 Olympics held in Atlanta that the park pays tribute too but it is still cool looking. The only thing I can think of is those are athletes maybe running jumping and swimming? Overall still a really cool piece and fun discovery while walking through the famed and historic park.

This very exciting, useful review is for the 14th Street Bridge in Midtown Atlanta. As someone who…read morehas lived in Midtown for almost 20 years, first on 10th Street and then on 17th Street, the 14th Street Bridge has been a regular part of my day-to-day life in the city. You can consider this a companion piece to my equally exciting and useful review of the 17th Street Bridge: https://www.yelp.com/biz/17th-street-bridge-atlanta. I moved to Midtown in 2000. The old 14th Street Bridge, which was constructed in 1984, was taken down in 2008. The new and current bridge opened on September 3, 2009. It took over a year to build the new bridge and it opened ahead of schedule. I barely remember the disruption. This bridge is newer than the 17th Street Bridge which opened in 2004. The bridge spans east-west over 15+ lanes of the Downtown Connector (I-75 and I-85). The new bridge is an improvement over the old bridge in every way. The biggest improvement has been to traffic flow. The bridge is longer and wider than the old bridge. It's got three vehicular lanes in either direction with two dedicated turn lanes (the old bridge didn't have dedicated turn lanes). There's an elevated median with decent landscaping and spacious, equally wide sidewalks on either side with lampposts and waste receptacles; no benches though. The bridge's fencing is green with an artistic cutout design. My favorite features are the lighted columns on either end of the bridge. At night, they change colors and it looks cool. So, the 14th Street Bridge is a lot more aesthetically appealing than the fairly plain yet functional 17th Street Bridge. The entire 14th Street Bridge project actually took several years and extended multiple blocks in either direction from the bridge. 14th Street was widened and made to look nicer with trees, bushes, and other landscaping. This displaced a lot of businesses. A couple businesses I distinctly remember being affected were Tamarind (Thai restaurant), just east of the bridge, and Wolf Camera, just west. Tamarind moved down the road to Colony Square where it reopened as Tamarind Seed. There also used to be a CVS and Office Depot at the corner of 14th and Techwood where the storage facility is now. I don't remember if those two businesses left as a direct result of the project or not. The old Silver Skillet diner, which opened in 1956, survived and still lives on to this day.
