I like to find new places to eat, try new things, so this time around I decided on making the trip out to Middleburg for some barbecue. I saw Stone E Cabin on the map and figured it would be a nice attempt. I got there just mid afternoon on a Sunday, so the church crowd had already gone through and things were a bit quieter. There was a buffet, which I took a look at, but decided against it. All you can eat fried chicken wasn't really something I was looking for. Inside the place is decorated with the typical rustic country styling of any other barbecue place. Picnic tables, lots of wood, that sort of thing. I was told I could sit anywhere, so I picked a spot with lots of light so I could read while waiting for my food. The wait staff were pleasant, and I had no complaints there. I decided to go with the Three Choice Meat dinner, which means you get three different meats and two sides. I went with ribs, smoked turkey, and the brisket for the meats, and then fries and baked beans as the sides. The ribs were decent, though their barbecue sauce wasn't spicy enough for my tastes. The brisket was fair, and I enjoyed it. The turkey is not something I normally get, so it was a nice change and had a solid smokey flavor to it. The fries and beans held up well, as I like to have the bowl of baked beans there to pour barbecue sauce on top of, then use it as a dipping bowl. Keeps things clean, too! All in all, this is a fair place for barbecue. Nothing truly outstanding about it, but not bad either. If I were in the area and really felt like barbecue I would have no problems going again, but as it is a good hour away from home if I am heading to Middleburg for food I am going to explore the rest of the options in town before returning. read more

I was torn with giving this place a 2 or a 3 star. It was our first time here after Sunday church, we are a family of 7. They accommodated us quickly and the service was good. The atmosphere was great, but they only had picnic table style seating, which is fine but I had nowhere to hang my purse, and in a dress, it was hard to enter and exit. For a BBQ place, the food was quite basic. A step up from Bono's but overall still not great. The fries, basic frozen fries from Walmart, not seasoned. Nuggets, same. The chicken and ribs were dry and lacked flavor. No smoke flavor at all. The fried chicken was flavorless, the gravy was probably from a can or a mix packet. The Mac was a little cold and tasted Iike leftovers. The collard greens had zero flavor, no bacon or meat cooked in with it. Although the texture was good. The turkey was ok, it also tasted like leftover Thanksgiving turkey. It wasn't dry, per se, but the flavor just wasn't there. The most impressive food on my plate, was the grilled toast. Overall, unimpressive, the food was comparable to hospital food. More than likely, we won't be returning. read more

They keep such odd hours. They usually are closed most of the time that I drive by. I have heard the food is good though.

I absolutely love this place. Great place to have a relaxing meal. BBQ-perfectly cooked. Sauces-I liked all of the sauces. Honey mustard is normally my favorite, but I liked the sweet bbq sauce here. Waitress:Lauren took great care of every need I had. Sweet Tea-it was made perfectly. Lauren hooked me up with a"to-go" tea since I had a fifty mile trip home. Will I go again-YES, if I happen to be in the area again. P.S.-I ordered the pulled pork sandwich combo(drink included $8.99 only). They had the best Potato salad I've ever had. This place is such a good BBQ place. We are a large family and they accommodate us easily. The food is delicious and everyone is friendly. Service is fast and it's a fun country atmosphere. Kids food isn't limited to a couple choices which is nice. read more

I am giving a 4 star but closer to 3.5. We had the large portion of spare ribs. Ribs were huge and meaty. Mix of very tender and very chewy. Good flavor. Sides were mac and cheese which had little cheese flavor, onion rings which were very crispy and tasty but unfortunately came out lukewarm, coleslaw was good. Service was good and nice atmosphere. Best livermush around family owned great service. Hunters has every other company out there beat with the fantastic taste of their livermush. They are available on Ingles and Walmart on NC and it's a welcoming experience when you call and talk to the employees there. read more

Best bbq food around. Great food, nice place, would give 5 stars however I find that they are closed all the time. I have dined here before and this is the second time I was disappointed with my food. I ordered the sliced pork with fries an slaw. When I recieved it, the amount of food recieved was plenty! However, I did not recognize the pork. It was gray! And dry lumps of mystery meat took up the space that fresh pork should have been! Came here with my friend for lunch and got the rib lunch with 2 sides being Mac and cheese and the baked beans, they were amazing! The ribs were so tender and fall off the bone, the Mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy. By far the best Mac and cheese I've ever gotten from a restaurant! The baked beans had a sweet taste to them, with tons of pork. Also extremely good! My friend got the turkey and she said it had plenty of flavor, the mashed potatoes tasted very fresh and homemade and the cole slaw was sweet and light. Highly recommend stopping by to try it out! The food sucked! The Turkey tastes like Walmart deli. No smoke taste at all. The pork was shaved with very little taste. The baby back ribs were dry as in no sauce. No flavor at all for the ribs. At best, an average bbq restaurant. Went there with my son today. Started the meal with jalapeño poppers - right out of the freezer & into the fryer. Jalapeño was tough and the first bite pulled the pepper out of the coating, spilling the molten processed cheese down my lip. Clearly my fault for not waiting a few minutes before giving them a try. We both got pork sandwiches - his was pulled and mine was sliced. There were only 2 sauce choices on the table and both were pretty basic (mustard based and sweet). We weren't offered any alternatives, so I'm not sure if there are any. The meat on my sandwich was thinly sliced and rather fatty - not much of a smokey flavor - it may have been sliced earlier and spent some time in a warming tray. The service was sufficient and the tea was good, but I'm not sure that's a good enough reason to bring me back. If you're in the Middleburg area (before 6pm and not on Sunday), stop by G's Barbeque for a much better alternative. read more

On the way back home from Ramona Flea Market my fam and I stopped by here to eat dinner. It's a very open restaurant with a lot of space and things to look at. I love all the funny signs they have on the walls and their decor. Even though they we're only able to give us 2 orders of pork wings because they we're out and I had to buy ribs (which I didn't really care much for, bit the sides we're amazing - mac&cheese and baked beans!), I was still able to try the pork wings and they we're so delicious! My 4 stars comes from just having these pork wings and I am definitely going back soon!!! read more

Just not my cup of tea. I am a bbq enthusiast and love just about any bbq form anywhere but I could not bring my self to take more than 2 bites of my pulled pork. It was so dry. The onion rings for so greasy the first bite I took I had grease overflowing out of my mouth. And the mozzarella sticks were still frozen in the middle. Charming place!!!! Upon arrival the interior is laid out very festive, but lacks a bar and live music. Very clean and comfortable with plenty of seating for large parties. The first service attendant was very quick and offered an adult beverage that wasn't available. The follow up attendant corrected her mistake, but provided a substitute. Very professional and timely taking our order....BUT I believe the kitchen was very slow in the preparation. It took approximately 45 min for us to receive our appetizer. Meanwhile, I nursed 2 adult beverages prior to receiving our entree. The meal was served on two separate plates with the a steak by itself on one plate and small bowls holding the sides on another plate. Not a big fan of this type of service because it seems like I'm in a cafeteria. The Ribeye was cooked to perfection, seasoned well and medium rare. The side dish was steamed broccoli and mashed potatoes. The broccoli was very good, but to me the mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant. They would do much better serving Bob Evans instead of what they are providing. Overall, great restaurant, but a bit pricey ($29.99) for a 16 oz steak served with instant potatoes. I could be wrong, but nevertheless the mashed potatoes lacked quality. Lastly, I would like to address the credit card service charge added to the bill which is identified as a "Procurement Charge." I don't agree with it, because this is the price of doing business. As a former business owner myself, I've learned that these nickel and dime charges that you try to pass on to your customer aren't really worthwhile when you're trying to establish repeat customers. These charges usually turn me away. Will I try this restaurant again? Absolutely, it was a great stop passing thru. If things change, I could even make this a weekly visit since I live only 15 miles away. Very friendly and enjoyable. The steak was superb, if not better than a Steakhouse!!!! Some really good juicy BBQ, not the cheapest around, but they can't stay in business if they don't charge accordingly. Been visiting with friends and family for about a year, had pork and beef meals - every time has been consistently good. Portions are usually ample enough to warrant doggie bags. Wide open Dining room noise is relatively low, service is quick and attentive. Good location for big parties and bigger families.
