Overall, I had a very bad experience, and this would have been a lower rating if not for Kevin…read more(handling logistics), who was great and resolved things. I had three central heating and one combination radiator installed. This meant the plumber would have to do some electrics.
I sent a very clear and detailed document outlining the radiators' specs, sizes, and where I wanted them. The plumber came three times in total (I later learned the plumber hadn't received/read them).
For two visits, the plumber had a bad attitude, largely because he was annoyed to be doing electrical work. The third, he was normal, but he was only there to fix a leak he had caused. Details below:
- As mentioned, he had a bad attitude overall, not something I'd expected, having used the same plumber from them before (that time, he was normal).
- He installed trunking for the electric wires. He did an AWFUL job and put no corner pieces in the joints. Then had the audacity to tell me that they don't make corner trunking. I simply had to point to some in my kitchen. This trying to pull the wool over my eyes and talk down to me, he did multiple times over the three trips.
- We had a large Victorian-styled radiator installed. But despite its large BTU, it wasn't getting hot. He claimed that they actually weren't very good and I should have brought a different style (he blamed me/the radiator a few times). On his third trip, he tried to rebalance the system, again claiming they were bad. Little changed. I since got in a new plumber (different company), who instantly told me that the radiator had been installed the WRONG WAY AROUND. This type of radiator has a baffle, so it could never reach full temperature the wrong way around. I was shocked at the Serviceteam's expert plumbers' incompetence. Plus, I was now further out of pocket.
- The plumber came back for a third visit because the pipe he installed for one of the radiators was leaking. However, before accepting that it was his work, he blamed the pipework in the house, and it took me ripping up the floor and removing a whole bathroom cabinet before he accepted and fixed the obvious leak.
- He also strongly encouraged that the pipework he installed for the radiators be done in a certain way. Faster for him but definitely less pretty. I accepted it at the time as I just wanted him out of my house, but I have since regretted it.
Lastly, the company takes AUTO PAYMENTS! A warning because they took the remaining fee despite the fact that I was extremely unhappy with the results. This meant that I had zero control over the situation and had to accept their timelines and hope someone would come back and finish the job.
Regarding the terrible trunking, a month later, an electrician came around and finally fixed it. They did this in 10 minutes.
As you'd imagine, the value for money was not worth the stress.
I had given them a three, but rereading my experience, I had to drop it to 2 stars. Sadly, even if the logistical support staff are good, if their workers perform poorly, it reflects badly on the whole company.
