The problem is, the ensembles they put on the models always look like they were made for blind goths, disco bunnies and transsexuals. We're talking the most trashy, mis-matching, ill fitting, unisex, halloween outfits I've seen in years. If you can get past the window, Fabric Land has everything you need to make your own more tasteful clothes. Spread over two floors, they have rolls and rolls of cotton, satin, chiffon, calico, denim, cord, velvet, velour, felt, gingham, hessian, lace, leather, patchwork, suede and towelling. They also have zips, buttons, boning, hooping and for those that love the window displays, PVC and fake-fur!

You'll find that the prices are very competitive and, particularly if you are making things to sell, this can drastically affect your margins. They also sell ribbons by the dozen, velcro, patches, buttons, zips, sequins and cottons (and probably loads more I've forgotten!). The shop is on 2 floors, but staff are so helpful that they will fetch anything for you if you are unable to get upstairs. All materials are sold by the metre so you can buy as much or as little as you want, and prices are very reasonable.

I was mistaken, my usual fabric shop was shut so rather than a wasted journey, I went in to have a look. Half an hour later I had whittled my selection down to an arm full of jerseys several wools and a few tartans. They have a pretty big selection bearing in mind the size of the shop and the price is amazingly reasonable. Now I have no reason to buy fabric anywhere else. But do bear in mind once the stock is gone, its gone... so buy what you see.

All the fabrics easy to get out, you just take your roll up to the counter and they measure and cut it for you. They do all sorts of ribbons, iron-on transfers, buttons, zips, cotton absolutely bloody anything to do with fabrics and sewing. All their fabrics is priced in metres, and they're quite cheap aswell. The only thing i hate about this shop is you cant quite get a buggy around the aisles.
