My daughter went in to the store to ask to reschedule her $55 sewing class (NOT ask for a refund). She found the door locked, with a note to ring the bell for service. When she did, she was met by an extremely rude woman who made it seem like my daughter had ruined her whole day. Long story short, this woman flat out refused to reschedule my daughter's class and did absolutely nothing to attempt to accommodate her. Her attitude was abhorrent. Not someone I'd want working for me! Rude employees and ZERO customer service. Absolutely unacceptable! They've lost what would have been an excellent repeat customer. read more

I took many classs here and would love to start off with avoid this place and go somewhere else, They treat you differently based on who you are and beliefs I know the owner has different beliefs than me and was treated differently and also being Latin played a bigger role. Also they would not finish your project in a matter of time if they have others using the space up why would you book many clients at once in a small space knowing that you won't finish the project and have to keep scheduling classes and when you ask for help they just ignored many times I know exactly why too. They will judge you, and take your money and not help stay away from here. read more

I've been coming here for classes for a long time and have learned so much (and made some really good friends)! Everyone who works here is so helpful and knowledgeable--I'm pretty sure between all of them there isn't a question they wouldn't know the answer to. They've helped me make shirts and pants, hem garments and replace buttons, and I even made one of my wedding dresses here! I loved going to their classes. I didn't know anything about sewing and took the beginner classes where I learned all the basics and discovered a new community within LA. I can't say enough about StitchSpace! It is a true gem! The owners, Miss Amy and Samantha are wonderful! Learning how to use a sewing machine can be frustrating and it takes some time to get it right; if you're looking for a place to learn without stress, this is it! Everyone is so patient and helpful. Our daughter is 14, and she's a pro at sewing thanks to Miss Amy. There's also all sorts of hand stitch, crotchet, and knitting projects you can learn to make. The camps are also a great way to create and finish more in-depth projects. Adults, you're welcome too! This is an all ages affair! One caution, cancellations are I believe on a 72 hour prior basis. Had an absolutely perfect first-time experience as a beginner learning to use a sewing machine. I signed up for their adult evening beginner class and was really impressed at the level of instruction and what we were able to accomplish in 2 hours. I learned to setup and thread the machine, how all the different parts work, how to back-stitch, regular stitches, how to pivot, and seam allowance. I went from 0 to completing a little project (making a pillow from scrap fabric) in just 2 hours and had a wonderful time. There were a lot of instructors, the space was warm and welcoming, everyone was kind and patient, and it was just a really good time. I look forward to taking some more classes there and making my way through the beginner projects. I highly recommend StichSpace if you are interested in having a crafting space and amazing personal instruction - I'm so grateful that I found this place! read more

My goodness, StitchSpace is a little oasis of magic. We brought our 10 Daisy Girl Scouts for a 2 hour embroidery class today and everything was so fun, beautiful and accessible for these young girls. The staff was incredible. Patient & knowledgeable. The project was so sweet and well thought out. They embroidered the Girl Scouts logo with cute buttons. Even the scheduling was easy. I took a machine sewing machine class as part of the Renaissance Club activities, which sends you on "surprise" activities once a month. It was a decent hike for me from West LA but it was a very fun and educational afternoon. I hadn't touched a sewing machine since home ec class in junior high, but I've had a brewing desire to learn how to make some of my own tops. The instructor, Morgan, was so sweet and made things easy to learn. And I felt proud of myself that I was able to make a little pillow in my first go. I plan on coming back! read more

As a kid my dream has always been to make clothes and this place is really helping me pursue my dreams. I have taken 2 classes so far and the amount of things I have learned in a short amount of time is amazing. Awful customer service, just awful. This is the second time we've had an issue. Last time we were a few minutes late, my daughter was saying goodbye to me and they were like chop, chop we have to get started. Today, the lady with the two tone reddish and black hair refused to let me stay with my daughter for her class because she was scared. There was a recent lockdown at her school because of a shooting at the park across the street. ZERO compassion, ZERO willingness to make an exception and instead said in a nasty tone, "yeah that's not our policy..." and "we can't allow you to do that..." I explained I'd sit on the bench by the window and read, but again, she was HORRIBLE. My daughter in tears. 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND! Giving it 1 star only because it's the lowest you can select. read more

I have been selfishly holding out for the past week on posting a 5 STAR review for Stitch Space because my experience was so great and I don't want the place to be overrun and not receive the same attention and care that I did on my first visit, while simultaneously needing this place to thrive and remain open until I am a bonified seamstress ;) I had the best first sewing machine class ($40) last Friday evening and I can't wait to return. I didn't purchase the package deal up front because I wanted to stop in and sort of feel things out first. I had purchased some fall print fabric that I wanted to make scrunchies with and when I arrived and was told I'd be making a pillow I was not very excited, now having made the pillow (and one scrunchie) I am over the moon with the fact that I, Cands, made a pillow. I had so much fun, and haven't felt so present in a moment or space in as long as I can recall. In this day and age of always being behind a screen or even when I'm gymming, walking, hiking, running I am so in my head. Learning a new skill such as sewing had 100% of my attention. It was incredible! The next project I was told would be a tote bag, and then pajama bottoms. I think I'll sign up and start going each Friday or more often if I can. I already want my own sewing machine and just in the past week I've seen so many dresses, tops, and pants that I've said to myself I can literally make this myself - wishful thinking! Since I've become obsessed with the fabric store it's a great thing that I'm now obsessed with learning how to sew on a machine as well, because what's a girl to do with yards and yards of gorgeous fabric if she can't sew something beautiful with it. And yes, I still want to make a ton more scrunchies but I see now how learning how to first make the pillow taught me so much more than making a scrunchie would. This place is quite honestly my childhood dream, it's so cute and comfortable and safe feeling with fabrics, and yarn, nooks and crannies filled with yarns and thread. It's really just so relaxing and calm, a peaceful neighborhood gem. I haven't been this excited about learning something new in quite awhile. Let's please keep this small business in business. This place is perfect for learning a new skill, they offer tons of different classes at so many different times that work great with any schedule. Perfect for a solo project, girls night, family night, girl scouts, boy scouts, any scouts, date night, you name it! While I was there, they had around 6 young girls and I thought it was amazing that these young girls already know how to make very impressive projects. I was in awww of them the entire evening and thought it was the cutest thing ever. They were all very confident and focused on their projects, this really said a lot to me about the type of teachers the owners have been to them although I noticed the same care and attention while I received my lesson it was so nice to see just how confident one can become in this skill after receiving lessons. I can't wait to return! I walked from home, but there is metered street parking out front. Hope you enjoy as much as I did! read more

As a small business owner myself, I have somewhat high expectations for boutique customer service. And I notice when other businesses fall short. Samantha and Amy exceeded my expectations. They returned my phone call right away and answered my questions. They've crafted a series of intro classes that teach the basics of machine sewing and send you home with completed projects to keep you excited to learn more. They are both warm and engaging people, and they foster a supportive and fun learning environment. My stepdaughter and I both loved our first class. And we have the cute pillows to prove it! I loved the stitch space LA staff so much. I came in a beginner, having issues with my machine. And the pros helped me to see it wasn't me it was the machine and taught me on another machine which I have purchased (same price as my other one) for a better performance. I've had the pleasure of working with Amy and Vanessa and they are just lovely people to know and learn from.
