There are a lot of mauves with the reds and I just refuse to put that color in my French country/farm house style home. But I did find good buffalo prints! Lol! The quilting section seemed like I will be able to find what I need for my next project. So overall, I am pretty happy this place exists and I will come back.

The selection is downright overwhelming! They carry the latest cottons from Moda and yardage as well as pre-cuts of all shapes/sizes. An excellent selection of plaid shirting fabrics as well, at only $6 per yard. Pricing is about what you'd expect for the top of the line quilting fabrics. But they do carry some good bargains as well. Make sure to check out the remnant bins. The upholstery and decorating fabrics aren't the latest, but some of us aren't really into the gray and pastel with black scene. Farmhouse and French decor is becoming tired, anyway. The prices are excellent. Masks are required while in the store. The staff isn't overly friendly, but not rude, either. I was waited on promptly and efficiently, even though I interrupted a major gossip session.

Not only do they carry more than 8,000 bolts of quilters cotton fabric, all of which are gorgeous, but they also teach great classes. And, they also sponsor a QuiltFest each July which brings in nationally known teachers. They specialize in Kaffe Fassett fabrics, as the owner is in LOVE with them all, and they also are a certified Judy Niemeyer teaching site, and specialize in her paper-pieced designs. However, you can find just about anything quilt related at the store. They do not carry things that are just sewing related - only quilt-related stuff. If you want someone to create a custom quilt for you, just ASK. If you need overall or custom long-arm machine quilting, just ASK. They opened a quilt retreat place about 2 years ago that is simply beautiful. Each bedroom is decorated with a stunning quilt on the wall and beautiful quilt on the bed. The classroom is amazing - it used to be a 4 or 5 car garage, I think, but is now a really big classroom. Linda, the owner, teaches the Judy Niemeyer classes, and other staff members teach many of the other classes. Linda also brings in nationally known teachers about once a quarter or so to teach at the retreat center. You can get anything you want at Tennessee Quilts!

I'm no quilter, but I can appreciate beautiful fabrics and colors. My mom is the quilter, and she has created some beautiful things. She is also obsessed enough to have made Tennessee Quilts the first stop on our recent road trip to Nashville. This store has been called one of the best quilting shops in the country, so says my mom, and she knows of what she speaks. Tennessee Quilts can be found at the entrance to "downtown" Jonesborough, a very sweet town, the first one in Tennessee. Jonesborough happens to be in eastern Tennessee, home of the Quilt Trail. The store is quite large, 2 floors of mostly fabric. There are quilts that have been entered into shows decorating the shop. My favorite fabrics are the Kaffe Fassets. I have grown up with his designs. My mother has been knitting his sweaters since I was about 10 or so, and now I have a gorgeous quilt in one of his designs on my bed. As mom says, he is a great colorist. Check out his Gypsy collection of fabrics. My mom and I spent about two hours in this store. I could hear her on the 2nd floor, walking back and forth and marveling. I watched her spend a good 1/2 hour going through the collection of fat quarters alone (yes, I have even learned terminology). Since we had come here all the way from DC, I kept myself busy and let her have her time alone with her fabrics. Her conclusion? Tennessee Quilts is just as great as she had heard (and read) it was. Everything she needed and wanted was there. Her only gripe? Prices. A little inflated, according to her, but then again, she's never been one to pay retail and always knows where to get things for cheaper.

I enjoy the selection here so it's unfortunate we will no longer be shopping here…read more Today we went to Hobby Lobby because they had a sale on "masters touch" art supplies. When we got there sure enough the "sale" flyers they had set out AND the sale signs hung up all said 40% masters touch (listing brushes, pads, sketch books, tube and jar paints, etc). So we loaded up and went to check out. After ringing us out the price was high so I said "this was all on sale". The cashier rudely said "no, that was last week"... I said the signs say it's on sale. So she called back and said they'd only honor it for brushes... which out of a bin full of supplies, we only had 2 brushes. Then she proceeded to type something in and did not in fact put the sale price on the brushes but on 2 of the cheapest items... one was a brush and the other a small sketch pad. Why??! This is frustrating. We drove 45 minutes to shop here and they won't honor the sales flyer THEY posted. On top of that the cashier was super rude. I work in customer service so I am overly polite and try to never be condescending. She was just plain rude the whole time. So... what can we do about it? I guess the only option left is to complain (yelp review) and "vote with our money" by not shopping here any more. TLDR: rude cashier and they don't honor their sales adds.
