Although the product looked good and was only marginally more expensive than what I was accustomed to paying, I wanted to visit other hair replacement services before making a decision. Several weeks later, I made a second appointment with Arnoldo and decided to go ahead. I was pleased that during the time between my first and second appointments - unlike the other firms - Arnoldo did NOT repeatedly email me, text me, call me or try in any way to pressure me into buying. At my second appointment, I placed an order for a hair replacement system that was very different from my usual style. To put this in perspective, I had had the same style since 1983 and thought it was time to try something different. However, once it was on me, I saw my mistake. So, after trying it for a few weeks, I returned to Hansen to tell Arnoldo I was not comfortable with what I had ordered. I wanted to go back to something similar to my usual style. Arnoldo immediately agreed to place a new order, without any mention of payment. When I asked about the cost, he said, "There's no charge. We want you to be happy and we want a long relationship with you." Finally, while the cyberhair product is not inexpensive, for me the cost is easily justified by the high quality, ease-of-care and great appearance of the product.

I came in for consultation on both color and cut before scheduling my apts. For my color consult with Robert I brought 12 pictures so I could show him what I DID and DID NOT want for my red color. I've been the shade I loved previously but couldn't find someone who was consistent in giving me this color. He looked at these pictures and said that we could match it no problem. My hair was halfway down my back so it was going to run me $90 (ouch) but for perfection I was willing to give it a go. I did my cut consultation with a fellow who I don't believe is there any more (sad b/c his cut was the only thing to come out well) we talked about the hair cut and were on the same page :) After we talked about the cut I asked about having my hair done in an up do for a Mad Men Christmas party. He quoted me $60 for the type of up do, saying that he would wash and set it for the proper look and hold I wanted. I scheduled that apt. too. When I came in for my color & cut apt's I was confident for the results. The receptionist/assistant was nice enough but kind of passive in her greeting and demeanor. Robert mixed my color and applied some of it and then the assistant took over. That was the last of his interaction with me as he moved onto his next client. After having the color washed out it seemed a bit dark but was going to wait until after it was dry for the final judgment. My cut went off with out a hitch but as my hair was being dried I really wasn't happy with the color. I agreed with Robert to give it two days and if when I came back for my up do apt. we could change it. Two days later I came back for the up do but told Robert that I wasn't happy with the color, it really was not what I had specified. His response was "well when you come back next time we'll get it". WTF??? As I sat down to have my up do started I was informed that I wasn't going to get a wash & set /c they don't have a dryer for clients to sit under. SERIOUSLY!? How could you agree to do someones hair a very specific way and then totally change what you agreed upon when you gave them a consultation? I agreed to let my hair be styled the with the alternative method b/c I had to be to this event in 2 hours. The entire time my hair is being worked on my stylist and Robert are shit talking other stylists & salons all over San Francisco. Not really professional behavior in front of clients. Even if another salon is crappy, I don't need to hear that negativity discussed in such a catty high school gossipy manner while I'm trying to get ready for a fun event. When my hair was done, I was told my style was $90!!!! I asked why the price had changed after the $60 quote and I was told I must have remembered wrong. I had only brought enough cash for the correct price plus tip so that's all they received. All in all the only satisfactory service was the hair cut. I paid $90 for color that didn't turn out correctly & wasn't corrected. I was miss quoted on a hairstyling and even then it wasn't properly executed. Definitely not the service you expect to receive from someone who's worked for VOGUE. I feel I was ripped off and will never go back.

I gave her a call one morning. I didn't realize the line was connected to her directly. When I called at 8ish am Perhaps, it was too early but she sounded a little taken back. Even more so when I couldn't pronounce her name correctly. I didn't give you that f***** up ebonics name. So don't take that s*** out on me. How do you get an attitude that your name gets mispronounced? Anyway, after we moved passed my fumbling her name and waking her up. She sent said she would text me information about the consultation. I sent the photos she requested. She called me back. She said she never received them. I resent them for her to say she never received them. She couldn't do the consult without seeing the pictures. So I texted to say maybe she could give me an email. I found it odd that the photos weren't received after so many attempts. I tried one final time via text. She texted me back to say she received them. She texted to schedule a time to talk. I said I was available. When that time approached . I heard nothing from her. This is were the story ends. After all that back and forth. I haven't heard from this woman. It's been a few days. She didn't call when she scheduled. There has been no communication or an apology for not contacting me back. That's bad business and extremely unprofessional. Of course, this is my opinion and personal experience . I hope she doesn't treat all her potential new clients in this manner. Maybe, she felt she couldn't do anything with my hair. If that was the case. Maybe it should've been communicated. Instead of ignored. Lesson of this story never trust someone that does phone consultations. It's a waste of time and energy. It was a first for me and a last. I'll stick to the old fashion way. He knew how to work with it! The cuts looked amazing, and looked great for months after. He has immense talent, and most importantly also listens to what you're looking for! He's able to recommend hair styles based on your hair texture, or is able to work with any images or styles you're looking for. I don't think I'll go to another hairdresser in SF -- I've tried several and honestly no one compares to TJ! I've had my hair cut by him twice now, and will continue to do so in the future!

Update for 10/10/2020 visit during covid:…read more I was SO glad to finally have my hair cut indoors professionally again! The salon has a lot of protocols in place that made me feel really safe. After I parked, I texted TJ to know I was here and he let me know when I could come in. At the door he took my temperature (if it read 99+ he would've sent me home) and had me use the hand sanitizer provided. Masks were on for everyone during the whole service, and TJ also had gloves on. There was only one other client and stylist in the salon when I was there, and we were separated by a plexiglass divider. As for the haircut, everything was great as usual. I've been wearing my hair naturally wavy during quarantine and TJ gave me some tips on how to style it, and diffused my hair instead of blowing it out. All in all, a great and safe experience and I'm so happy they are back open!

He cut something like 8 inches off my hair and did it all while my hair was dry - something I'd never had done before - and it turned out SO well. He watched where my hair fell as he cut and he also checked in with me regularly to see what I thought and if I agreed with what he was seeing. Now, my hair looks good air dried or blow dried, in a ponytail or down flowing freely. Not a hair out of place. Plus, Michael mentioned he views his work like art and I think that is really wonderful.
