First time coming here, WILL NEVER COME BACK! We sat down outside and waited for awhile till someone came over. The female manager turned the heater on for us to which we were very appreciative of, considering it was cold. We told her it was our first time here and we would like menus. She never came back. A young man came back and asked if we'd been helped, we told him yes but he brought us over menus anyways. Then manager that turned the heater on for us told her other bartender to move the heater somewhere else because of the saftey hazard (understandably). The other female bartender with purple hair came over and was rude to us while she was moving the heater and had a complete attitude about us asking what was going on. Then the manager came up to her bartender and proceeded to speak about us, RIGHT INFRONT OF US. Very unprofessional and atrociously rude. So many great places in downtown to drink at. New owners came in and added special changes to enhance the relaxing experience of the Patio Bar, the Indoor Wine Tasting Bar, and new airy feel of the interior shop! Locally created wines, craft beers, and your fave standard beers are available. There is a handmade cigar rolling station on the patio where an interesting cigar blend is used for a great taste and a fine burn! It is definitely an oasis where you can relax after walking Main Street! There are two HDTVs for your sports viewing pleasure. This was a nice little wine shop in Dunedin where you can purchase wine and other unique items or just relax there, which we opted to do. We ordered a bottle of Villa Jolanda Piemonte Brachetto, which was very similar to a moscato, being sweet and crisp. We found a table out on the patio where there was live music we listened to while people watching. The server brought us the bottle and poured for us but she placed the bottle on the table and never went to get an ice bucket for us to keep it cold. Being that it felt like 90 degrees out, it really should have been kept on ice. We eventually made our way back inside to a table because we also got to warm on the patio. They had fans going but this just didn't seem to help. read more

We had a decent group of us (about 8 of us) there for St Patrick's Day. We had barstools outside and had been there since roughly noon time until 4 ish. They had a cart outside with beer and wine for sale, which we were constantly buying from. Well when we went inside to use the restroom the bartender inside went off on us telling us we had to be paying customers to use the restroom. We had literally just purchased a round of drinks for us and it was outside on the table, because who brings their beer or wine to the bathroom? That's just disgusting. We told the lady we had full drinks outside and she said oh well you have to buy another one or leave. We were not going to buy another drink when we already had a mostly full one outside that we already bought from you all outside. She then got argumentative and continued on to talk poorly to other customers in the bathroom about us. Each of us in our party probably spent close to $100 (that's $100 each!) with how much we bought drinks from you all. That behaviour was unacceptable and completely rude. We have came to your place numerous times and have loved it each time, but now we will not be returning anymore. I get it that it was a holiday and all but we weren't just some slob off the street coming to use your restroom. We did not deserve that treatment at all. We went for a wine tasting event and ended up with a wine membership. I was extremely impressed with the tasting event. Unlimited wine. Tons of food and delicious cheeses. I mean, would could be better! We are very excited for our two free bottles of wine per month that we get to choose. You can also enjoy your wine there as there is no corking fee. They have a cheese guru who will prepare you a fresh meat and cheese tray that will pair wonderfully with your wine. We are looking forward to our next date night at Sterling! Went with girlfriends during an overnight in Dunedin. This place is so cute. One side is a "wine bar" the other a little shop with wine gear/trinkets. The owners were there and they were both super sweet and knowledgeable. They have a frequent buyer card. Pick one up if you think you might be back for more wine! read more

Walked in to check this place out.. Lady working didn't greet us so we kind of walked around in circles waiting and nothing so finally when we were leaving she said hi. Not sure how this place has such great reviews...made us feel awkward. read more

I stopped in here one evening one our way to dinner in downtown Dunedin. Such a cute little shop with all things wine! Anything you can imagine and more. They also have wine tastings, which is fabulous, I bought a bottle of the Mango Mamma wine. They have flavors for all tastes. If you are in Dunedin and have time, you should definitely stop in. I can't wait to go back again and try more delicious wines. read more

Great atmosphere and a friendly staff- this place is a must try!

I am still in shock by the way our group was treated at the Stirling wine bar in Dunedin. A group of 12 of us ventured out in downtown Dunedin to celebrate a birthday. As we left our dinner at The Livingroom we decided to check out Stirling for our next stop. The place was hopping with great live music, and a good atmosphere. We all noticed right away that the bartenders were both extremely grumpy. As we ordered our drinks from the woman and man behind the bar they both seemed as though it was extremely inconvenient that we were even there. Neither the young woman with the accent or the guy with the ear plugs and man bun were kind to any of us, and even forgot to pour two of the glasses of wine that we had ordered. In any case we had our first round ordered and continued our celebration. As I sent my drink down on one of the ledges lining the wall, it tipped right over. There was a lip on the ledge that was hard to see in the dark bar. My drink spilled everywhere. I went right to the bar and asked the woman with the accent if I could please have a bar rag. I explained that i had spilled my drink and wanted to clean it up. She looked at me very confused and told me i would have to wait that she was helping other people. I waited a couple of minutes, and at this point the drink has spilled all over the floor and people were stepping int he mess. She eventually threw me a towel. I cleaned up the spill and brought the rag and my empty glass up to the bar. I asked the young woman to please refill my drink as I hadn't even had a sip out of it yet. She rolled her eyes and filled it and said to me "That will be $9.63." Shocked a bit, I explained to her AGAIN that i had just set my full drink down and it tipped over because it is too dark in the bar to see the lips on ledges. I had had my drink for 30 seconds before it split. She turned and walked away from me. A few moments later Man Bun walked up behind me and literally threw a receipt at me. I once again explained to him what had happened, and he looked at me and said "How do i know you didn't get your drink and chug it and say you split it" I then explained to him that he could look at the rag I used to clean up the drink. Before I could say another word a friend threw a $20 down on the bar. The Man Bun scooped the money up and made change. Still in shock to how I was being treated I began to tell both of them that their customer service was shocking and that I would be calling the next day to discuss it with the owners. The man bun then told me "Ha! The owners are here and they would charge your ass too! Would you like to talk to the owners??" I promptly said "Yes I would!" Knowing right away, as a business owner myself, that he would not appreciate his staff treating his customers like this. Man Bun laughed and walked outside to a gentleman arranging tables. He began whispering in his ear, and I walked up to him and asked if he was the owner and if I could please speak with him. Him and I went the side and I explained all that had happened. His eyes widened and he said right away "They should not have charged you for that drink. I am so sorry." He then brought me back to the bar and refunded my friend his money for the drink and apologized again. I commend the owner for being so understanding and quick to fix the situation. He was absolutely wonderful. On the other hand I think he should definitely take a closer look at who he lets behind the bar. Our group was made up of a doctor, 3 business owners including a restaurant owner and a member from the chamber of commerce. Our first round of drinks totaled nearly $110 and while we would have had a couple of more rounds before leaving, we promptly left as a result of the treatment by the staff behind the bar. We all agreed it was the worst service experience we have seen in Dunedin and won't be back as a result. Thank you again to the kind owner who tried to fix the issue, but once an experience is ruined it is hard to fix. I think his bartenders need additional training. read more

I really enjoyed Stirling. The servers and bartenders seemed to have a really good understanding of the wines they served. The selection wasn't huge, but it was comprehensive enough to have all of your based covered. They even brought us a free piece of chocolate cake when they heard that we had a particularly tough day. My only knock was a large crowd of patrons came in and were fairly inebriated before they even arrived. There seemed to be no reprimand from the staff, in fact the loud behavior almost seemed encouraged. At a normal bar I would never notice such a thing, but a candlelit wine bar should probably have a little more decorum. This may have been atypical, but I need to note the observation to be fair. It's easy to miss this hidden gem among Dunedin's great restaurants but it's worth a try for some quality wine. read more

The selection was quite small. This is not necessarily a bad thing depending on what you are looking for. My wife is the wine drinker and don't personally know much about wine so the lady that helped me was a life saver. The only reason I give a 4 and not a 5 is just the smaller selection. If you are in the area I would suggest dropping by. Since I don't drink wine or beer I can't attest to the patio bar side. read more

Lots of good wine, pleasant atmosphere. We stopped in after diner at Pensare, and a walk on Main Street, to find friendly people, both servers and customers. A couple of women moved from the larger table to a smaller one to accommodate our group of four - considerate of them. The server's daughter came in to help out for a while - when we first passed by it wasn't busy, but as we sipped our wine, the place filled up. Server did bring buy a sample of cheese which was good, but not there for food. Definitely would go back. read more
