A friend of mine invited me to a children's event hosted at this library - I am always interested in FREE activities to take my LO to, so I immediately accepted the invitation. When I looked at the address, I had no idea that there was a public library so close to my house! The last time I went to the library was in Hollywood Circle- and while it is not that far from my house, this one is much closer, it is easier to get to, and has more available parking. This library is a hidden gem - it is off Stirling road, and not easily visible from the street. When you turn into the library from the road, you take a short drive along a winding road to reach the parking area. The front of the library has an overhang which is perfect for dropping off books in the rain! Or of course if you are travelling with anyone old or young in the rain. When you first walk into the building- on the left side are meeting rooms- this is where the event was held. There was plenty of room and seating inside the room. I've never been inside a meeting room at a public library, and this was a very pleasant experience. The presentation was wonderful and my little one really enjoyed the hour. After the event was over, I decided that to take a look around the library- I was there anyway. The library is beautifully decorated. It is small, but utilizes every bit of space efficiently. The children's section is AMAZING! There are tons and tons of books all over the place. The space is clean, bright, and is equipped with age appropriate toys and activities as well. There are also computers available for use for homework or research, as well as a room exclusively dedicated to teens. The couches and tables are comfortable and spaced out. The adult section begins with books on tape, and DVDs. I didn't get to take a look at the adult's section of books because I got caught up looking for some audio books to take on our family road trip. They have quite a wide selection of audio books- and I easily chose 3 for the ride. I'm really glad I found out about this library!

You got to keep a look out for the sign directing you to the Stirling Branch Library because you're liable to pass it straight. After making a few winding turns, I found myself in a large parking lot where there was plenty of parking. Once entering the building, the first thing I saw was the check-out desk. The children's/young teens section was to the right while the reference/adult services section was to the left. There is adequate seating throughout the library with a large selection of audio books, CDs, magazines, books, and DVDs. Reservation for computer use is optional and you get three 60-minute sessions. With a friendly staff, I do find myself coming back here soon.

Small and generally quiet and good place to study. Parking is easy and plentiful. Staff is helpful. It's clean. I haven't perused the book offerings since I go to study but I would not say it's a huge collection. Plenty of pc's available as far as I can tell. My only complaint is that staff should enforce the rules/policies that they clearly place at each table (see photo) but instead people talk on their cellphones constantly which is disruptive and also eat in the library.

Although it's a private library, it is available to the public. My friend told me about this library as her middle school son volunteered here during the summer. She said it was really nice during the summer when it was quiet and they had the library to themselves. I went during the weekday last week. In the midst of back to school college students everywhere! Lol. They have security by the main entrance and college students are asked to scan their university IDs. All other guests will be let in by the guard. You must have a Broward County Libraries card to check out books at this location. The nice thing is, you can return the books to any Broward County Library and they will ship the book directly to Alvin Sherman Library. So convenient. When you walk into the library, the circulation desk is on the left, there is a computer working lab area on the right, and if you go straight, you'll find the children's book location, there are new books located on the spinning racks next to the stairs, and there is also a hidden bestseller books room located next to the circulation desk and entrance/exit. I believe there are four floors in this library. Tons and tons of tables and rooms for study areas for the college students. My favorite part about this museum is the Chihuly display on the second floor, they fancy! Another fascinating thing about this library, are the moving bookshelves! You heard me right. They have digital buttons where you can move the actual bookshelves. It's such a smart way to save space. Brilliant. Unfortunately, they don't have any Friends of the Library books for sale at this location. But the librarian did mention they have two big annual book sales per year. You can sign up for newsletter on their website. There are also two book returns at the roundabout outside of the library in case you don't want to park and get out of your car. There is a parking garage but you have to pay for parking using the park by mobile app. I believe it was $1.61 per hour. Students park for free with their NSU parking stickers.

The only thing you would have to worry about is the $1.00 fine they charge each day for each item that is overdue. I like the fact with having a library account, I can go on the website and check out any new book, CD, and DVD release. If the Hollywood branch does not have the item I want, I can put the item on hold and if there's a copy of that item available at any other Broward library, it will be sent to the library of my choice for pickup. There is no limit on the amount of books or CD's to borrow (2-3 weeks), but if you want to borrow DVD's, the limit is 10 (1 week). Besides borrowing books, CD's, and DVD's, the library also provides bus passes, faxes, copying and printing (15 cents each). They have four sections of computers for adults, teens, and young children. You have to first reserve a computer, which gives you a 60 minute session. You can only reserve a computer twice, which sucks cause I normally spend more than two hours on the internet. If you're smart, you'll walk in with your laptop and use the library's free Wi-Fi. There are also four 15 minute computers that needs no reservation for people who want to go on the internet for minor, quick things like check their email, a quick tweet, print, or download, or just check their facebook page. The noise level in the facility is usually quiet until after 2pm. That's when the school children arrives and then it becomes noisy. The staff are very friendly and are willing to answer any questions you have. It's like my little sanctuary away from home.

I've also been for the children's programs they have two, one on Mondays for smaller children up until three years old and then they have one on Wednesdays for children three till five I believe. The one on Wednesday was terrible they put the children in a tiny room with barely any space and all they do is give them a piece of paper to color and that's pretty much it. The gentleman who was in charge was very kind though, complete opposite from the staff upfront. I'll never understand why people who hate customer service decide to work at front desks...
