The descriptions sounded divine and we were so excited to try their food but everything fell flat. The biggest problem was the waffle itself. I'm not sure if it was because they were made in advance but they didn't have any crispness to them and had an underwhelming blandness. It seemed like the same waffles for the savory chicken and the sweet berries rather than being seasoned for each dish. Even the kids didn't like them :-( I hope it was a one off day but we were all disappointed.

My wife, Meghan, was a member for a while too, so she was happy to consider renewing the membership. During the turnaround I met Christine, who was worried about the timing because the wedding was running late. Well, every wedding runs late. Always. It's a given. We talked about it and I agreed to be her go-to person for when the Bridal Party was on their way back. I was getting ready, the DJ was set, we were ready to rock, and Christine was still worried about the timing. It was just the food though - she had a big roast to be carved at the buffet and didn't want it to get dry. I totally got that. So I made sure that the Bridal Party let me know when they were heading back. The evening started off so awesome! The bartenders were good. One was a little mopey, but I heard he was the nephew and probably wanted to go out that night. Ha! The other was Christine's husband, it turns out, and he was HILARIOUS!! Such a nice guy! Slinging drinks like crazy! I called up all the tables and when it was my turn to eat, wow, EVERY PIECE OF FOOD I ATE WAS INCREDIBLE!! You know, you go to weddings and most of the food is good, but some items may be so-so, or blah. Not here, everything was spot-on and delicious! That roast that was being carved...so freakin' tender and tasty! I will definitely be getting my membership!!

I just came back from checking out this recently opened venue and it is awesome!…read more Its only about 8 minutes south of leduc and has just recently been opened with the help of the community banding together. Max capacity would be 240, but it would hold about 140 with a large dance floor. The bar is attached to the barn with a grain bin which is so cool as it doesn't look like a grain bin! The owners, Chris and Jeff, have put their heart and soul into making it a success and it shows. There are packages if you're looking for a wedding venue, Christmas party venue, or just need a larger area to throw your event. They have also partnered with the Wyndham Garden (8016 Sparrow Drive in Leduc) for not only special room rates, but also shuttle service. The outdoor cement pad has two nice wood burning stoves which are nice if you want to be outside and it's a bit chilly. They also have the option of a portable bar outside as well. The owners are super friendly and very accommodating so make sure to give them a call to book your tour of their venue!

In my and my husbands opinion Whitewood Barn is the perfect wedding venue for a rustic chic type of couple. Chris and her family we're very accommodating and provided great recommendations such as our photographer @pinkskyphotography and Ryan at RAD Media. They made our day feel special and when it unexpectedly fell cold, they made our guests feel at home and cozy with our homemade cider. They went to great lengths to ensure everything ran on time and to make sure my husband didn't see me until I walked down the isle. From helping me "fluff" my dress to my liking and making sure the groomsmen put the boutonnières on properly they were there every step of the way to make our day perfect. When we signed the agreement and made the deposit, it was very clear that it was non refundable, which we were completely fine with! This is how businesses survive! Ensuring they have profit to keep up with the maintenance of this beautiful venue. If it was easy everyone would have a whitewood barn. Due to the unfortunate COVID-19 pandemic, I can see how some people may be frustrated about not getting their money back. However, knowing Chris I can guarantee she has been trying her best to make accommodations based on the available dates. Please don't forget that behind these venues there are families that are trying to desperately keep their businesses intact! So please be kind and support this venue.

There are cubby holes at the front entrance where you can store your shoes. Socks are mandatory here. Our son had a blast playing in the downstairs and upstairs play area. There were plenty tables, chairs and stools to sit at. I appreciated the child gates at the entrance to the main floor play area and also flanking the bottom and the top of the stairs to the second level. There are a variety of play structures and toys for the kids to explore. The cafe had a variety of drinks and treats to purchase. The couple of washrooms were easy to access on the main level and one had a change table available. My feedback would be for some grip to be applied on the stairs to make them anti slip. When I heard it was socks only, I made sure my son had his socks with the little anti slip plastic dots on the bottom. I also wish they had a couple lounge chairs for breast feeding mothers. There are normal chairs but wider lounge chairs would be amazing. The second floor tables were pushed up against the short wall overlooking the main level. A little kid could easily climb these chairs and tables if they aren't being watched. It would be nice if they had a glass divider/wall extending up from this short wall as an added safety feature. However, young children should always be supervised and never left unattended to ensure their safety. Overall, I enjoyed my first experience here. I would definitely consider hosting a private birthday party here for my kids. It's a spacious venue but the play areas were intimate enough to have good conversations with others. I felt my child was safe playing and for this reason I could relax and enjoy my time here.

I came here recently with my family to attend a child's birthday party. This play space is very…read morenice when it comes to such private bookings as it is quite contained and it is extra appropriate for pre-school aged children. There are two areas for the kids to play in (upstairs and downstairs) and each includes a different set of toys/equipment. There is ample seating and the cafe can deal with serving food/coffee/snacks and have pizza ordered in for example. It really was a lovely location for a group party. Reasonably accessible, those in a wheelchair would only be able to access the main level (the baby gates do make it a bit to maneuver and upstairs would not be accessible of course), the gathering we attended included an adult in a wheelchair who could easily sit and enjoy with the rest of us. The pulley system is a bit hard for the kids to pull up and down (this may be due to use) but otherwise the equipment is in great shape and the kids had lots to do. This isn't as huge as some other play cafes in town, but is surely more potentially private and certainly a great place for private bookings if perhaps a bit far out if you're not located nearby in the neighbourhood. There is decent parking available, however. As a heads up, everyone needs to be wearing socks. Fortunately socks are an inexpensive purchase here -- I forgot and bought some from the establishment.

Across the street is a Sheraton with a Ric's Grill which is ok. Walking there is a little crazy as there is little lighting in the evening and no sidewalks. There is a liquor store nearby as well. A trip into Leduc is easy enough with plenty good restaurants to choose from. The rooms are clean and well kept. If you have stayed in a Hampton Inn before, you will know they are consistent with decor, layout, and comfortable beds. The only drawback at this hotel is that (warning: rant about to begin) it has terrible television viewing. It is unfathomable to me, in this century, that basic cable is so hard to come by. This is a better than decent hotel and it cannot provide cable TV viewing that at least provides channels consistent with the channel guide. There are no sports channels available. The printed tv menu card is for show only. It is bizarre that the HGI about half a km east provides good tv viewing and sports channels. This may seem petty, but it annoys me enough to always try to stay at the HGI. The best part is that I complained and got a very heartfelt form letter from the GM assuring me that this was to be fixed. That was well before Christmas. Carried away you may say over a trifle? In my experience, it is small details like these and a failure to remedy them that hurts a business - especially when social media is so available to trash a business for this sort of thing. drops mike
