He took my medical history and completed a physical examination prior to drawing any conclusions. In fact, he discussed his findings with me and answered all my questions prior to suggesting a treatment plan. He said he was prepared to try more than one approach to ensure that I received the best of the available remedies used to treat my condition. He is one of the best physicians I have ever encountered. He elicits information, he listens, he answers questions, he conducts a thorough physical examination, and shows empathy. I have called 4 times, actually went to Mercy and got my MRI disc and the report and physically took it to his office, tried to make a consultation appt when I dropped it off only to be told Dr Cook had to review the MRI before I could make an appt. As of today, Feb 22, 2023, I still have not heard a word. My neurologist has made a referral to a different neurosurgeon and 2 days later, the new Dr called and I have an appt for a consultation. THAT is the way it should work!!

However my family care doctor showed me that they indeed faxed the referral to them, sometimes even twice in the same day. No patient with a serious condition will be able to wait this long to just be SEEN. Let alone get treated. I understand doctors are busy and have a lot to do but this seems to be way over the top and truly inconsiderate of a patient in need. Any person with a serious illness would be in critical condition by now, if not dead.

One of the techs always says my blood pressure is 120/80. (Textbook normal) Right! And I have ocean front property here in Oklahoma to sell you too. Learn to take a proper blood pressure. Sometimes life depends upon it. It's difficult to understand a couple of the techs. I'm hard of hearing and have cognitive issues so they need to work with patients like me. Make note of it in patients charts. I'm not a fan of repeating myself every time I go to the same doctor. I've also called the office for things like changing my address or phone number. They never write it down and change it. Then I miss appointments because they're calling the wrong number. As for the doc, he's pretty cool. He was the first medical personnel to suggest speech therapy years after the shooting. My only thing with him is that he gets tunnel vision with headaches. It's difficult to talk to him about anything else because of his focus on headaches. But he is easy to talk to too.
